The opening sequence to the 80’s Twilight Zone was amazing.
@NobodyQuiteLikeMe3 жыл бұрын
The 80s have such a different feel and smell. Like when she looked for the cat I got a real feel for the times. A lot more secluded. A little more wonderful and not so many signals in the air.
@NobodyQuiteLikeMe3 жыл бұрын
Very empty though. Kinda shallow and vacant. About the same warmth of the times now actually.
@alvexok5523 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, and I grew up in the 1980s so there's a familiar feeling with that scene, combined with it seeming like a different world from today. The vibes and tones of voices were different such as when she's calling the cat, and even how she asks about him, "I'm looking for our cat, remember him, short, furry, and has 4 legs?", the phrases were different. They were better, really. Today, it's more like "Man, where's the damn cat at, I mean seriously, you tellin me his ass is gone?"

@JohnDoe-tt6en17 сағат бұрын
I don't know what you mean by secluded, shallow or vacant. I didn't notice anything particularly 80sish about this episode. In general/other movies or tv shows it seems to me that the 80s and earlier times had more sincerity and innocence. Today everything is 'flippant' in this sarcastic or lighthearted way, even when people are talking about something they obviously care about or not being rude something will come off in this 'don't take anything seriously, nothing really matters' way.' It's hard to explain. I might even say that in a lot of ways people come off as hyper-cerebral (in contrast with the innocent/sincere 'simple-mindedness' of earlier times). This is just the impression I often have and I'm cherry-picking/generalizing.

(Before you guys jump on me in the comments, I just want to say that I wrote this for fun.) Closing narration: "Like a lot of American women, Linda Wolfe - or is it Linda Wilson? - assumed she could have it all. But she learned too late that the best things in life really are free. Now all that remains of her and the life she built with her family is a blank credit card, cut in half in an empty lot. A word of caution: The next time you sign up for a new card - or enter into any legal agreement - remember to read the fine print. If not, you might just end up like our friend Linda, currently repossessed to the Twilight Zone."

My modest observations regarding Linda's purchases with The Card...from Hell 💳🔥: 1. Yes, buying the "Compulsion" perfume was all her doing, but just how expensive could it really have been? 2. The refrigerator transaction was likely a joint decision. 3. The Jeep's water pump problem was an unforeseen emergency situation, and not Linda's fault. 4. Brian's check cancelation also was not Linda's fault. 5. So, where did Brian, Linda, the Jeep, their house, and everything else ultimately go? 👨👩👦👦🚙🏡 Of course, Linda should have read her contract thoroughly‼️ 🔎📑🔍
@ethanlee599911 ай бұрын
Brain, Linda, the Jeep, their house, and everything else would have been ultimately “redistributed” to different owners. The house would have reappeared into a completely different neighborhood with different, more financially responsible owners, and all the objects in the house would have been distributed to other different, financially responsible owners altogether. As for Brian, he would have been distributed to a financially responsible single woman who has proven to deserve Brian, and that woman would gain all of Linda’s memories of Brian sans “Linda’s problem”. As for Linda, she would have been distributed to a new family, one with parents who rear financial responsibility into their children, and of course her old parents would have completely forgotten about the existence of Linda. In order to satisfy complete repossession of Linda’s old memories, Linda would appear in front of her new parents as a baby, with no recollection of her past life and no ability to regain her old personality. Hence the “erasure of Linda from existence”. At least that’s how I interpret the ending, anyway.
@JohnS-il1dr10 ай бұрын
Why defend her obvious mistakes? She had a spending problem, and with a simp husband who didnt have the guts to intervene sooner it just made matters worse. The simp just "yes dear" through every transaction like the fridge and the perfume.

I had mixed feelings about it personally. I feel it would have been more warranted had the voided check been her own fault, like maybe she saw something she really wanted and used all her remaining savings, hence why it was declined. Then her losing everything, including herself, would have felt more justified. But since her husband cancelled the check, I kinda felt the ending was a little harsh.

This woman is a good representation of an addict. Her spotty credit card history is spelled out for the viewer, she claims to have learned her lesson. Yet she jumps at the chance to get a new card, even when its spelled out that this is not like the cards she's had in the past. She signs the contract without even reading it, as soon as its in her hands she buys something to get her fix. Then at home she 'admits' that she has a problem with the conversation with the husband when asked about the new credit card. I get the feeling her husband cleaned up her mess time and time again. So she never faced consequences, well until she wound up having the only option to get her fix with the credit card of last resort.

You must read the terms and conditions when you sign you agree. So even if you go to a judge and say this predatory lending, or you didn’t understand. It won’t matter once sign it’s your consent. Linda said she change and really needed the card but she didn’t read the contract nor did she ask questions. For example 7 days and you must make a minimum payment? What is 7 days? Is it 7 business days? Does the weekend count? What constitutes a minimum payment? 10 percent. 30 percent. What is the interest rate? 14%, 30%. Another thing Linda doesn’t do is talk to her husband. She really should have talked to him. Her spending habits cost him everything.😢

Whether this episode was a Twilight Zone POV or not, it teaches you the hardest lessons possible, on acting overconfident about signing for a new credit or banking card (in which she didn’t even read or ask any questions about it), as well as keeping up with paying for your statements and such, on time, in order to have a good credit score. If that doesn’t happen, you might just end up like Linda Wolfe/Wilson.

It was like an original series fifth season episode where you "enter" the Twilight Zone for no reason and ended without any real conclusion.
