The headline of this video should be: “Tommy Pham was right”. He called out the front office 10 years ago saying they weren’t developing talent and giving the right guys opportunities. The BFIB rolled their eyes as Mo showed Pham the door, because the team was still riding high then. But it turns out, he was right.

Tommy “Rod Tidwell” Pham ruined his future when he did that Sports Illustrated interview. He pushed himself out of town. Hes not a star. Maybe if he could control his own ego, and realize no one held him down, he might be a happier person. In his own mind he is a hall of famer.

Think about this Carpenter, Wainwright, Pujols & Molina were already on the team before Mozeliak got the job and he has yet to prove he can establish core players he only proved he can tinker with a core that was gifted to him so my point is how much credit does he actually deserve for that 2011 championship and the 4 good years after that?

If they release him the Dodgers will pick him up and he’ll win WS MVP. Y’all touched on a LOT that demands much much more exploration. Right now, let’s level with each other here: the St. Louis Cardinals are broken. Their farm system isn’t even Top 20, their team isn’t even Top 25, their payroll is Top 10. This is a mess. There’s TOO MUCH that needs fixing that isn’t going to happen this year or maybe the next several. How can Randy Flores be a hot candidate for Moz job when you look at the farm system presently? Good/bad teams are not made in 1 offseason. Back to back bad teams are DEFINITLY not made in 1 offseason. This team is a decade in the making. Asking "what should Mo have done last offseason?" is 5 off-seasons late. "Alcantara and Gallen didnt get good looks" is not a good defense of the FO. Throw Hicks in to the discussion and Mo has traded away 3 top end starters before giving them a chance.

Great show. Listening to what you had to say it seems like the Cards are always trying to do things different from everyone else to succeed. If the league is trending to lefty power, we put together a lineup without any. If the league is trending to power pitching, we turn to soft throwing contact guys. It seems the Cards either think they’re smarter than everyone else or it’s just the cheaper way to do business. Either way, it isn’t fun as a fan all of the sudden. We’ve lowered our expectations as fans because it appears they’ve lowered theirs in the front office.

Brendan, you mentioned Grichuk, and I'm going to tell you why he's one of my favorite players in recent Cardinals history. On defensive, he is perfectly capable. His offensive output has never been phenomenal, but he's been consistently average, and that is better than _anybody_ in the current StL lineup! His "hills and valleys" aren't as severe as other players too. In fact, for about a week last year, Grichuk had the highest season OBP for the NL, and that included above Luis Arraez from the Marlins. I've never thought Grich's bat was all that powerful - his swing is ugly as dog$hi+ and if he would spend an off-season in the Lou' and go see Aaron Judge's coach across town in St. Pete, he'd be phenomenal and that's because he can literally put a bat on any goddamned ball close to the zone - even if he doesn't barrel super well - it's his f_¢kin eyes that kept him in the major leagues, not his swing - but he can contact. As a result, Grich' won't "Tony Gwynn" his team in a pinch by refusing to swing and just taking a walk, despite who is coming up behind him in the lineup. Jack Clark thought Tony Gwynn was a piece of $hi+ when he played in SD b/c of Gwynn's obsession with his own numbers, instead of getting after a close pitch and trying to put a ball in play to advance runners. If Grich' played the Tony Gwynn game, he'd probably have a near .400 every year. But with 0 or 1 outs, the guy will slap at the ball to put it in play and move guys over.

I'm putting a ton of blame on Turner Ward and whatever his hitting philosophy is. Obviously he's not telling them not to hit but he's also obviously not telling them the right adjustments to make either. And something that would point towards it being a coaching problem is the hitting woes being a team wide problem. It's not just a couple players struggling or an aging player here and there it's a hitting mentality and philosophy problem at the core. It's on the players to perform but it's on the hitting coach to identify adjustments and set forth the game plan at the plate and Turner Ward is failing at that job.

I was a big Lane Thomas guy thought with actual playing time he could be a very solid outfielder. You guys were talking about the players norms I believe the first 2 seasons these young guys have aren’t the norms it’s the seasons of average to below average play after the honeymoon phase wears off and that’s been a problem going back to David Craig. Not to mention all those young gun pitchers from 2012-2016 whose drop offs were unexplainable. As for O’Neil personally I would have moved him a couple years ago maybe could’ve got something for him It’s undeniable now all us guys calling for MO’s head were right no championships since the HOF manager was pushed out for this current model of just happy being a wildcard contender because it fills the seats.

The lineup is the problem, and whoever makes out the lineup is the issue. Ollie/Mo and owner are the common denominators to the last couple of years' failure. The manager is way in over his head. Look how he flip-flops the lineup like he is managing a softball team. If a player hits a homerun, the next day, he moves him into the cleanup spot. This manager going up against the better than average managers. You can chalk up an L. He doesn't know how to play situation baseball or utilize speed in the lineup.
