Great video, I'd been curious about this ever since I watched Chass's vid on the thread. He adds nice background music and the text to speech he uses retains that anonymous vibe. For those who haven't yet read the thread, personally I recommend checking it out

I also recommend Chase's video. I thought the story could also use a more personal/analytical video about it, but Chase is great too.

this game is just off the hook. the style, presentation, gameplay, and all the little things add up to it being a really good experience. I remember the only reason why this was replaced at the local pizza joint was because the cabinet finally fell apart due to overuse. The guns were broken and the store owner said that they couldnt find anyone that could repair the machine anymore. It was their #1 played game of their small arcade section.

I remember seeing this machine in a local theater when I was a kid. We went to go see the Iron Giant or something like that. I've always been curious about it since I felt such dread imagining the horrors that awaited anyone who played

Ah, /x/. A land of wild conspiracies, hackneyed creepy pasta, and succubus dating tips. The only thing lending credit to this is that op was an admitted bottom and that weebs were wild in the 90s

I used to play this game all the time at an arcade at Glenbrook Square Mall in Fort Wayne, Indiana back in the late '90s when it was still new. [[Edit/Note: When the game was still new, I mean. And also back when that mall still had its "Orchard."]] 3:30 1988 is the year 'Killer Klowns from Outer Space' came out. 7:38 Which is also the title of a song by Creature Feature. 9:48 Sounds similar to the premise of Videodrome. 11:30 "Hey, man, nice shot." 12:56 I was a proto-weeb around that time, and even before that, but I never got into Sailor Moon. It always irritated me that THAT was what the mainstream thought anime was all about instead of using, say, Vampire Hunter D (1985) as the exemplar. Btw, you're right to use the term "proto-weeb" because we didn't call ourselves "weebs" at that time. 14:12 Almost sounds vaguely reminiscent of that old Mystery-something-something theme from the '80s. 20:53 "Stop it! Stop it! Stop iiiit!!"

I poured quarters into this machine. The bowling alley used to have wall to wall arcade games. Now, its sad, and pathetic seeing how bare, and empty it is. Damn i miss playing this game. Wish it went to console.

Real or not; a twisted "Tunnel of Love" level feels like the most missed opportunity.
@marccamp6376 Жыл бұрын
Damn yeah! :D That would have been such a SWEET quick bonus level I never liked how that blondie you have to rescue sometimes suffers cheapdamage-like unavoidable deaths, like being eaten alive before even appearing on screen to be saved. A special 'Tunnel of love' level in which you are on a swan boat with her until the ride ends and enemies ONLY appear around and go after her ignoring you, so its not a regular "surviving level", but a "save the victim from multiple enemies" bonus short stage :D

Great video as always! Never even heard of this game but it is a perfect Halloween idea. I feel like anon was just writing a story because it sounds exactly like what that age of 4 chan would like to hear: "so yeah I was in this cult in the 90s and it was so cool and we had guns and we hated the government and we used to use videogames to indoctrinate people into our pagan beliefs and I had a lot of sex and no you can't know about it were were like totally secret" but still a great story that mixes reality with fiction, which works perfectly in it's favor to add the believability that has allowed it to still be relevant today, what a tale.

Based on the content of your channel, I'm surprised you haven't watched Twin Peaks, the "one armed man" is likely a reference to it as he's one of the spookier characters in an already horror-influenced show.

I have my own, controversial theory about why a console Port never happened. TW: School Shootings If a console port were to have happened, it would have likely came out in summer/fall of 1999. And what tragic event happened that April? The Columbine school shooting Some time after the tragedy, people (mainly politicians) started to blame violent video games, especially since it was revealed that the shooters were avid doom fans, even saying that the shotgun came “straight out of doom” Parents of the victims tried to sue Id Software. There were even rumors that the Shooters made a map of the school in the game to plan their attack (not true) Some Video game companies began to tone down some stuff relating to guns in games, Sega never released a gun periferal in the US because of Columbine. And Capcom removed gun support from RE Survivor in the US release due to the tragedy, It’s likely Midway didn’t want to get caught in some controversy, so it’s likely they canceled the console port in light of the tragedy.

Unsurprising that Midway would get behind something controversial to make money after a little obscure game called Mortal Kombat. The strategy seems to have worked mostly well for them, at least for a while.
