Totally agree. When she hits the opening phrase of each verse, she is DOWN there, pitch dead on from a cold start, rock solid with perfect vibrato and phrasing. And then the timbre of that magnificent voice! To me, she was the best contralto of the Pop Era. Period. A true nightingale. I’m thankful daily for the gifts she had the time and opportunity to give us.

Gush! Like it was yesterday! I think 1982 or 1983 when Karen passed away. 40 years ago, guys! Amazing how the years pass and life moves on! I remember this video back then I wondered where those beautiful gardens were cause I always wanted to go to a place like that! Rest in Peace, Karen! Glad you don't have to see all the craziness that's going on in this cruel world! God bless both Carpenter siblings!

She was only a few years older than me. What a shame that she had all of these internal struggles with her appearance. Karen was a cutie with a voice of an angel. I really wish I had came across her path. She would have been treated so well, that anorexia thing would have never existed and at the age of 67 now, she would still be with us blowing us away with her voice.

She needed love but so famous n cudnt find it. The stress of touring set her depression off worse. That disease keeps the patient from seeking help n w bad eating just feeds on itself. Its a form of delusional disorder which is worse in those born pisces-the escapist sign

We know Karen Carpenter was a straight-up Angel from God. And Richard too for writing this lovely music. This is one of my favorite songs by them. The Carpenters embodied that free and loving Spirit of the 70s. Karen left early, but she was Raised easily from this illusion we live in now. Though 2024 seems tremendously more hateful than 50 years ago when I was a kid, it isn't. All of us were created equally by God. We shall all learn to see it soon.

Sadly, her anorexia ran far deeper. She would eat very little, then take dangerous measures to expel the food, so it wouldn't absorb into her body. She viewed herself as overweight, even when she weighted under 100 pounds. This all stemmed from as lack of true love and support from her family. Very, very sad.
