My friend was getting ready to leave and divorce her husband, who had never laid a hand on her in violence. He snapped tore up the house and beat her badly. She had to be hospitalized. Seemingly out of left field. She did not see that coming. She was leaving him because he was doing drugs and playing around.

Fwiw, I'm a survivor of extreme DV. But my husband's second wife wasn't as fortunate: she didn't make it out of their relationship alive and their two very young sons lost their mom. Fwiw, a cop was a huge influence in my decision to leave. I was in ER - again - getting stitches, and he painted a picture of what life would be like if I stayed. (He'd seen the worst of DV in his 20-odd years on the force.) A few years later, after I'd built a life for myself and was in my dream career, I found him to tell him how grateful I was. Just wish that Ana had someone like that - a warning that could've made a difference. Rest in peace.

The case is and should be very clear, but the defense will aways attack problems in the investigation and is not their fault that this PD gave them enough reasons. Is their job to use the deficiencies. This prosecution office has dedicated two years to discredit cellphone data in the Read case, knowing they had this actual criminal to prosecute after and all his evidence was cell data. The investigator had the worst conduct in the Read case, is under investigation and suspended, defending his criminal friends was more important than staying clean to find justice for Anna. If you will be mad about this man having any break, take it with the real culprit, the corrupt police department.
