Reminds me of what happened with Subnautica: Originally, the wreck of the Aurora was supposed to be a two-dimensional horizon feature, purely decoration. But most of the beta testers... just went directly for the wreck to explore it, exactly like in the video here. So they decided to flesh it out, make it explorable. This is also why the wreck is probably the most bug-ridden area in the game: It came late in development, AND the engine wasn't really made for terrestrial exploration

I mean, in the early game you can't go there anyway because the entire surrounding area is radioactive, and the only way to bypass that is to make a radiation suit. If they really wanted to, they could've just made the radiation death barrier a permanent fixture with no way to bypass it. Sure, people might find a way to reach the wreck anyway by cheating or exploiting bugs, but then the devs could say "Well, what did you expect, of course there's nothing there! You're not supposed to be there!"

Nah they always meant to make ot fleshed out. Not only is it super important to the story but they also had already made the radiation suit specifically for getting to it. Also ot was fleshed out super early in development. I remember because I watched a video literally on every update that came out on it

@@medoma1000 their goal is as much as they can get because they are still going to be putting their own money in on top of this. Kickstarter is all or nothing on the goal you set so they set it low to make sure they at least get what people donated. Then there are "stretch goals" that show what additional sets they will be able to build once they reach each donation amount. You may think "desperate" sounds odd but they are trying to expand into an actual studio of their own instead of paying for multiple different buildings to run the business out of, store props and equipment, paying for filming locations, etc, So desperate to not only expand but to simplify the business so they can concentrate on bringing us bigger and better content from one central location sounds right to me.

Yeah we used to have two castles in New Zealand, one being the ruins of Cargils Castle, but that was more a manor house anyway, the second, Lanarch Castle whilst impressive is more a modern estate than castle fortress. A few years ago some farmers in Oamaru built a stone castle which looks impressive. Haven't seen it first hand bit is far to new and modern to be a castle really, they are both more like stately homes than castles vs what is the norm in Europe.

If they had opened the castle gates, then you would see a whole team of game designers (“Devs”) at their desks, taping at their keyboards working on the DLC castle interior cosmetics for VLDL. Perhaps one person would be in costume handing out Steins of beer in the morning to the Devs, as only the stein server would be in character and had been properly developed and rendered in game so far.
