Man, Doug’s speech at 23:16 - 24:18 is still very well written, thought provoking and poignant. This is one of those few times where you can tell Doug wasn’t acting but being really genuine and it really shows through in his tone and mannerism, almost like he’s speaking out against the Hollywood executives for ruining something that personally meant so much to him and everyone. And it’s one of those speeches that continues to be relevant and timeless to this day and really makes you want to check out those books you grew up being read to and reading during your childhood and see how well they hold up. Heck, I still love reading many of the books I grew up with in my childhood and going to the section in my library where the children’s books are. No matter what, I’ll always go back to my childhood books because there’s still something in them that not only makes them timeless, but still draws me in even at an older age. No matter how old we get, we’ll always go back to our childhood books.

Amen brother. Amen. As someone who is a business major but is autistic and has ADD, the sentence he made about focus groups and statistics really resonated with me. As a business major, I wish life was as simple as those two would lead one to believe. But as an Autistic ADD fella, I really understood the emotions behind Doug's sentiment. I feel morally trapped in a way. My emotions and perspective ends up getting chucked because it could potentially harm the bottom line.

I do sincerely hope that one day, a creative team that has as much heart, creativity, and passion as the teams who brought us things like Andor, The Last Wish, RRR, Godzilla Minus One, Encanto, or Gravity Falls are able to produce an actually good or great movie based on a Seuss property. I think Seuss’s work is more than deserving of something great in the medium of film. It will never need something great in that medium, since it will always endure on its own. But it would be nice to see somebody get their act together for a Seuss film.

Most of this movie's issues were due to Mike Myers and his contract with the studio/production. He had final say on the cut and what was to be in and cut from the movie. Originally the director and production team let him do what he wanted, thinking they could cut around it to make a decent movie. However, due to Myer's contract, he was able to force them to keep all of his bullshit in the final cut.

20:08 This one moment made me remember a movie that was sort of good but the entire final act turned into an advertisment for the shampoo Head & Shoulders, to the point where they actually do advertise it a few seconds before the credits roll. The movie in question I am reffering to is called Evolution: a early 2000's sci-fi movie.

Nice to see the full edit back! It didn't feel the same without you witnessing Mike getting slammed in his green eggs and ham.

Glad to have this classic review back. Makes me want the original Son of the Mask review with the unedited "NC screams at Balloon Head Baby"- scene.

I always thought that swing joke was cut from the review because the song Doug used was claimed.

The amount of lawsuits that employer would be put under for forcing his employees to host him for a dinner and then fires them if their house is even slightly dirty. I can hear lawyers creaming their pants on such an easy case worth millions.

I can't believe that Cat In The Hat is 20 years old.

This does make me remember a thought I had about The Grinch... Personally, I'm a lot less inclined to judge it the same way I would the other Dr. Seuss movies since those other ones were made with clear ulterior motives. But The Grinch was the very first feature-length Dr. Seuss movie made, which meant there were no expectations for success on it, leaving the writers and actors to give more effort and heart... And there was a *LOT* of effort and heart put into it. (The Whos, in my opinion, only look awkward, not scary, and as far as I'm aware that's the most common opinion overall.) Even if it's a lot more mean-spirited than the original, that makes me appreciate it as its own thing more- Clearly, it's not *trying* to be a kid's movie, like the others. It feels more like an adaptation instead of a copy, like the rest of them. The Cat In The Hat movie, though, gets none of that credit from me. It's an obvious cash-grab attempting to copy the same formula that The Grinch used to be good. ...Also, Jim Carrey can do no wrong in my eyes. That man is *legendary.* I'd love to hear people's thoughts on this!

I loved Evilina! She’s Rachel’s best character and I wish she had more appearances while Rachel was still working with Channel Awesome 😂

I read once that cat in the hat was written for a contest to write a book using as many words that every child should know. Suess won for having the shortest story with the most words used.
