I am a fan. I played Aaron Copeland's Cat and Mouse and George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue in my final piano recital after high school graduation. I stopped playing after high school - thirty years ago. For these American classics, it is not only the notes that matter, it is also about the dance. It is like the music gets in your mind and your body and fingers just move it out in the dance. I really enjoyed the way Kate Lee as a little girl of ten looks like a cat stealthily stalking the mouse and pouncing on it, but the mouse slips away at the last moment, so the cat has to give a chase in runs and leaps, they both tire out, and in a moment the chase is on again, until finally the funeral dirge is played for the mouse, and the cat has its satisfying meal and goes to rest. Bravo!!!

Her teacher did a fantastic job to have coached her, vividly pictured the Cat and Mouse on the keyboard, I watched this more than 10time trying to coach my son on how to feel the piece. Bravo is the best word for her play, well done!👍

Nicely done! Judging from some of the comments I sense that she is to be judged by adult standards by some. For me, I believe the point is that here is a young girl that dedicates a large part of her short life so far trying to be really good at something, displaying a passion and self confidence many parents would love to see in their children who may be only interested in hanging out at the mall or playing video games. She should judged at this age on her willingness to learn and let her teachers guide her to a more perfect musicality. I enjoyed the frivolity of the Copland piece.

Fast is not necessarily better. You just need to be fast enough. However, you need to be musical… make it your own and make it sound good. 20% slower can still work. You can be 20% slower but more musical.

Some here have yet to learn that being a successful musician is one part excellent musicianship, one part good appearance, one part good showmanship and one part excellent technique. Let's analyze this: Lang Lang has all four in spades; that's why his videos usually garner the most hits. Anna Federova coincidentally has all four as well; coincidentally again she has the highest viewership of the Rachmaninoff 2nd Piano Concerto at approaching 3 million hits in less than 2 years. That's phenomenal. Then browse through other videos of this concerto and see a direct correlation between who has four, then, three, finally two or less of these factors and see viewerships at the top and then dropping into the cellar correspondingly. Little Kate Lee has all four. It's too soon to know if she will rise to the top ranks, but right now she takes center stage and people love her at nearly 60,000 hits because of word-of-mouth. And judging by what I saw and heard in her Beethoven 1st Piano Concerto video I foresee a brilliant career ahead for her because not only does she have all four qualities that make a successful classical performing artist but I think Lang Lang sees this too and will take her under his wing and be her mentor. I see other kids here with varying degrees of these traits and depending on how many the kid possess determines how many hits their videos achieve. Not 100% predictable and not a fail-safe way to calculate, but close enough. Test it. It's not rocket science.

As far as I know,kong xiang dong sets up a piano school in china.i do not know if the school develops very fast in china.i hope that the school can create many excellent pianists in the world.
