As a stripper, I want to thank y’all for looking at our industry with compassion. People really seem to hate us for some reason. I can only conclude that people have internalized misogyny about sex workers because we are capitalizing off men’s desire to have access to our bodies. The majority of us are just selling a fantasy. At the end of the day, we are just trying to survive, support our families, have the freedom of open scheduling and working a job just like anyone else. Many of us are doing other things with our stripper money too. Starting businesses, investing, getting degrees, etc. It’s perfectly acceptable for women to get into bed with a man for free because they “love” him but when we charge for access to us, suddenly we are amoral. It’s time to center our voices and experiences on the subject. I’d love for more mainstream platforms to shine a spotlight on this without demonizing or glamorizing the industry.

In my 20’s in San Francisco, I worked dj and lights at a strip club on Broadway. Of 7 regular dancers, 4 were studying for doctorates, ALL were successfully supporting families alone, all but one owned their homes…. they also drove high end cars and were as independent as could be. These were beautiful young (25-30) independent successful women.
@janetmecham105927 күн бұрын
“If they aren’t hurting anyone” can be a generalized statement. I wonder if many that come after people who work in the adult industry in comment sections, etc. are perhaps triggered because they have been hurt by it? Now, let’s say for instance a woman’s husband frequents the night clubs and stipper clubs - maybe this woman rather than targeting her husband will target these adult entertainers instead? 🤷🏻♀️ I’m just thinking that in fact adult entertainment has been a source of hurt and a breaking point for some families in times past, that’s all. One could say the same about a lot of things, alcohol being one of them. There are some families out there who have been negatively affected by alcohol and might say all alcohol is bad because of it, whereas other people have literally no issues with it.

And I continued to tend bar for another 9 years sober… my boss was sober too. As to the stripper thing, one of the women used to say: “I am a commodity, a sexy woman with no name. I sell a product, sexiness. I am not nor ever have I been ‘The Other Woman’.

She's always been very open regarding the procedures she's had done and I don't remember her saying anything about that. And just from following her for the last 7 or 8 years and getting to know her personality, I'd be willing to bet that she'd be cool with giving you some advice, if you got in touch with her. In the end it comes down to jealousy. People don't like when wealth and fame come easily to others, especially when the rest of us have to struggle just to get by. It has nothing to do with Only Fans or how she makes her money because you can see the same behavior being directed towards the Hawk Tuah girl right now. She had a viral moment that thrust her into the public eye and she took advantage of it like every single one of us would have, yet you see the same hatred and vitriol being directed towards her.

I don’t have an issue with the sex industry itself. The issue I have is the predatory and criminal elements it attracts. Another issue I have is that many of the people, especially females, are forced into it and usually come out of it drug addicts with psychological issues that are very difficult to reverse.

My personal opinion when it comes to only fans and sex work in general, is that I'm personally against it. Your body is deeply personal and I think it should only be shared with the person you love. however that is my morals, that is what I live by. I understand others don't share those morals, so while I don't agree with it, I will advocate its right to exist, and the right for adults to choose to do it.

The problem with online content is that once it's online, it's forever. If you're a stripper who works in a strip club, like the law student Liam talked about, chances are, she can go on to have a successful law career and won't have to worry about explicit footage of her being publicly available and being able to resurface to jeopardize her future career and relationships. But when you put your body on the internet, it's forever. Even if you think you're safe because it's behind a paywall, there is still the potential for it to be saved or leaked by someone. Your future partner/children (if you have them) will have to deal with knowing that's out there, and that's going to make their lives difficult. And I think in a lot of cases people don't consider these things before they put their bodies on the internet, and then it comes back to haunt them later.
@Liam_blake0026 күн бұрын
I do totally understand that point but I suppose it might be career limiting in a sense of what you want to do - on the other side it it was super successful you might not need another job. I think the point is as an adult we can make these decisions for ourselves and other adults are in no position to preach if it ain’t effecting them kinda thing.

I fully agree it's a double standard to hate on strippers and OF fans, those in adult entertainment. If you also view this type of content. My (personal) concern with these girls, is once it's online it's there forever. You can change your standards but the content still exists and my worries the risk to their safety, it's not always glamerous like some article's claim. Alongside the darker sides. Similarly like what happened with Buck Angel. 20 years on it still gets brought up. Obviously for Buck its not affected his career, but for someone who 20 years later is a very different person. It can end badly

As for strip#@s,, I think it's misogynistic to shame them. I have had the best heartfelt laughter from the comedic undertone in watching a "Manpower Australia" or "Kiwi Fire" strip show on national tour. So much fun ❤ However, it would cause outrage or disgust if a group of women went on tour. It's socially acceptable for men to perform. We used to have adverts on TV for the men's shows 😅

I think some of the things that need to be taken into consideration when talking about the sex work industry is the extremely high percentage of women who do it who have been sexually abused as children. I think it’s not spoken about and even pushed aside by many because as a society we want to feel that women are empowering themselves and making their own choices when in actual fact it’s a lot deeper than that. I don’t have an opinion one way or the other I just err on the side of caution when judging for or against this adult content. I know the realities of why they do it much too well 🤷♀️

I'd rather see women in the, as Buck put it, Corn Industry use the O.F. site and be their own bosses and do things on their terms. There is so much wrong in the Corn Industry and women are especially taken advantage of, pushed to do extreme things, pressured to not have boundaries, pressured to look a certain way and get surgery. With O.F. they do what they want and are in control. I'd love O.F. to get rid of the traditional Corn Industry. I wish we could get past this judgement and lying about this topic. I was raised in a very conservative Christian home and it was a sin but as a teen I worked late night at a grocery store that had a $trip club next door and the $trippers used to come in after it closed and they were all so sweet and just wanted to make money to get out of Indiana quick. I also somehow ended up at a $trip club that had extras, because it was legal in Victoria, Australia, when I was 19, and most of the girls were Eastern European and were supporting their whole families back home where there was no work, they were putting their younger brothers and sisters through school, sacrificing so much for the rest of their family. It was funny, I went with a bunch of young guys because I'd never been to something like that and I ended up with several girls phone numbers, invites to private dances, and promises that they could get me a job there because 75% of them were lesbians. Alas, I was too straight laced then, could've been a fun night 😉

Hmm this is a difficult one for me. While much of the corn industry is ethical etc these days - so much of it still isn’t so I feel like we can’t label it all as ‘if it’s not harming anyone’ because often times it really is. Perpetuating nasty stereotypes and misogyny, can’t forget the weird pushing of *very* young looking girls constantly which corn has always been guilty of. And like it or not it does cause problems in relationships, people get addicted, have unrealistic expectations etc. it’s not something I particularly accept in my relationship for these reasons. While I respect people getting their money in the ways they see fit, there are huge problems with it we can’t ignore. It’s like the trans issue I think, a portion of the industry is harmful and bad, and it’s definitely worth talking about.

Someone posted yesterday about a girl who used to do porn or only fans or something and the MeMe said that she wants to be able to delete all of it off the Internet so she can regain her dignity… I Think it's a fake meme for one, but I said that I don't think Having sex no matter how kinky has anything to do with dignity unless it's hurting someone else or something else but if everyone has consent, it doesn't matter it's kinky and it's fun and everybody has participated in something kinky, wants to participate in something kinky or is afraid to participate and kinky, and then they're a few who believe that There's some sort of shame associated with it. It's only women who are given the stigma of shame by other people. What I think is wrong about the porn industry, and I've known men who actually do this as they record having sex with women and then sell i without their knowledge or permission and they didn't look down on the girls as being trash because they were able to use those women

On average - mostly men use these services and mostly women have to provide them SO for me that is a big negative. ❤🇬🇧❌❌

I think if you can make a living from being yourself, talking about your life or your opinions, then go for it. If people like you, you’ll get followers, and subs etc, but it IS work. It’s the usual crap from people who have no idea what your job entails, whatever the job is, you wouldn’t believe the people (even family) who have no idea what I do, as a nurse (recently retired!) When it comes to sex work it doesn’t bother me, I don’t have any friends who do that, but I wouldn’t ghost them if they did, I’d be asking them a million questions, because I’m nosy! The double standards are amazing, people want to watch *orn, but they wouldn’t seriously date someone who worked in the industry -- well, that’s not quite true, they’d date them, but they wouldn’t marry them!
