My problem with burial is the excessive cost. Cremation is about 10% of what it costs to be buried. With inflation today's burial costs are very close to $12,000.00 while cremation costs only around $2,000.00

Thank you for your comment. Cremation is becoming more popular in our society today, in part, because of the cost. Our ministry offers funeral, cremation, and cemetery services for any budget. No one is turned away. As a nonprofit ministry of the Archdiocese of Denver, we also have several charitable programs including the Crypt of All Souls which allows for the interment of cremated remains at no cost. When my father died I had to cremate him. Unfortunately he had no insurance and was under the believe that the Military would bury him for his 12 years of service 4 active and 8 years of reserve. But that didn't happen. So I had a service for him at the funeral home. And then I had his ashes buried with my Grandparents at a Catholic cemetery. He passed in 2013 and it's still tough to cope with. But I keep praying for him.

Be sure to watch the following video in this series titled, "Catholic Cremation Dos and Don'ts." kzbin.info/www/bejne/oaPKcqptZcdlaMU “When, for legitimate motives, cremation of the body has been chosen, the ashes of the faithful must be laid to rest in a sacred place, that is, in a cemetery or, in certain cases, in a church or an area, which has been set aside for this purpose, and so dedicated by the competent ecclesial authority. […] The conservation of the ashes of the departed in a domestic residence is not permitted. […] In order that every appearance of pantheism, naturalism or nihilism be avoided, it is not permitted to scatter the ashes of the faithful departed in the air, on land, at sea or in some other way, nor may they be preserved in mementos, pieces of jewelry or other objects.” (Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. True, our hope is in Jesus Christ and His resurrection. “Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.” (John 11:25-26) “Or are you unaware that we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were indeed buried with him through baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might live in newness of life. For if we have grown into union with him through a death like his, we shall also be united with him in the resurrection.” (Romas 6:3-5) “Behold, I tell you a mystery. We shall not all fall asleep, but we will all be changed in an instant, in the blink of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” (1 Corinthians 15:51-52)

Yes! Resurrecrtion of the body is no problem for the creator who created d.n.a. The book of Revelation talks of those whose bodies in the sea being resurrected. Revelation 20:13. Nothing is too difficult for the creator!

Thank you for your interest in our video. With God all things are possible. “In circumstances when cremation is chosen because of sanitary, economic or social considerations, this choice must never violate the explicitly-stated or the reasonably inferable wishes of the deceased faithful. The Church raises no doctrinal objections to this practice, since cremation of the deceased’s body does not affect his or her soul, nor does it prevent God, in his omnipotence, from raising up the deceased body to new life. Thus cremation, in and of itself, objectively negates neither the Christian doctrine of the soul’s immortality nor that of the resurrection of the body. The Church continues to prefer the practice of burying the bodies of the deceased, because this shows a greater esteem towards the deceased. Nevertheless, cremation is not prohibited, “unless it was chosen for reasons contrary to Christian doctrine.” (Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. Instruction “Ad resurgendum cum Christo,” October 25, 2016.)

Ultimately, our hope is in Jesus Christ and His resurrection. “Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.” (John 11:25-26) “Or are you unaware that we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
