Years ago I had a speaking gig at our, which lasted 10+ year. Once a month, i spoke for 5 minutes about missions outreach of our church. In time, I developed good presentations and got very comfortable with public speaking. What I began to notice was the feeling of power I got, looking at 200 people, knowing what I just said had landed well with them. It is a great feeling to experience. One morning after service, one of the members approached me and said, "you are getting good enough to be dangerous." At first I took it as a compliment, which it may have been. But I quickly understood the deeper warning in that compliment. I am not defending this "preacher", but I understand how they can get this way. Have friends who will tell you the truth.

Jim Standridge was my pastor for 4 yrs. Yes, he was like this and worse back in the '70's. I was a new Christian then. He doesn't know the meaning of the word, humility. He never apologized for being wrong in anything! Everyone was beneath him. It's a very long story, but in the end, he was fired and run out of town, a town of about 90 people. Anyway...glad it's all in the past.

Blue Rose when I first saw this I instantly said he's an independent Baptist I've heard them and they say the most terrible things in the pulpit well it's interesting that he's no longer a pastor..

Ok. But how much schooling and learning do I have to do to join that church? Lifetime Methodist here. Little easier to join. Been to a Catholic Church a few times. They said I am not good enough to take Communion with the Lord. Just not good enough.
