After years of military, deployments, training, lots of physical abuse, I was feeling horrible at 45. At 47 I had labs and tests done it was decided to try TRT. That part about not needing the volume is so true. I found my vigor returned, but my body couldn't take the loads anymore. I reduced the weight and volume, actually saw improvements. Good advice.

I am 50 and a former PLer and on TRT. I follow Mike Mentzer's Heavy Duty for the sole purpose that it regulates my volume and frequency and maintains my muscle without the joint beatdown. The casual-ness in which I know guys who will hop on TRT for no more reason than a doctor prescribes it is pretty crazy. The same sort of people who never touched drugs and the second weed became legal in their state they get high every day. People need to realize that legal doesn't always mean good idea Don't get me wrong I think it should all be legal, but there is a weird association people have where they equate legality and healthy/safe
@daxisperry7644
@daxisperry7644 Жыл бұрын
I noticed that occurrence once weed became legal. It went from something you need to be super careful with to "well it doesn't really affect you at all." The number of people I know who drive high is fucking CRAZY. And they'll Constantly justify by stating their tolerance or some such excuse. Meanwhile if I were to drive buzzed they'd be horrified.

Was curious what the thoughts were on this, but didn't really hear anything? But reading the comments below a couple of things stood out. 1. How LITTLE the vast majority of commenters know about actual legit TRT, but want to give everyone their $.02. 2. How so many people want to talk about how TRT isn't needed (for them) and want to dismiss the people who actually need it. If you don't need TRT - good for you. Makes about as much sense in chiming in with that info as running around the gym telling everyone what you "used to" bench.

I'm 65 and never took gear but always trained. My endocrine system is in great shape and I suspect that it's because I've trained and never used. Training the body trains the body to clear out degraded tissue and make new tissue. I do not understand why people take gear for the purpose of giving up this ability. When somebody's already doing the training work to advance this ability, why use gear to destroy the ability? Oh well.

Well, good for you geniuses who have it all figured out, but I'm without options. Due to TBI in my youth, and then exposure to toxic chemicals, interrupted sleep, and stress from 25 years in the fire service, my test level is at 46 ng/dl. Should be at 700 for a guy my age. The risks of using TRT under a specialists direction, outweigh the physical ailments associated with low T like metabolic syndrome, obesity, lack of mental clarity, and even worse, the extreme lethargy that prevented me from getting my workouts in because I was always exhausted. Unless someone has a better idea, I'll keep taking the T.

I'll be 70 in Oct. I'm still getting stronger. Muscles growing. NO TRT. Don't need it. Yes, I could cut and keep my gains ON TRT but having a monkey on my back till the day I die doesn't fit my lifestyle. Personally I think there's a lot of low T out there caused by inactivity, nutrition and not lifting with intensity. My body still grows calluses if I walk bare foot. My skin gets tan if I soak up the sun. I get cut it heals. And if I stress my muscles to failure by either reps, sets or weight my body will build more muscle. I plan on benching 340 by my birthday. It's just 10 lbs from my PR. Like to get 210 on OHP TOO . ill see. Been doing hypertrophy volume work last few months to build muscle. I'll start a push by Aug. Good luck with TRT. Great show.🏋

I'm 56 and have been on TRT for about 8 years. I had a varicocele that screwed up my T production, so it was prescribed. I keep my numbers in the 800 to 1000 range and that seems to be my sweet spot. I'm not huge...but you can definitely tell that I lift, although I like to maintain a leaner look. But as said in the video, I don't have to pile on lots of volume to keep what I've built. During the pandemic I took a break for about 3 months and I didn't lose too much of my gains and snapped back into A+ shape in about 3 weeks. Lately I work out about 2 or three times a week and I don't spend a long time in the gym.

My mentor was a huge, ripped powerlifter and also did very well as a bodybuilder wining multiple state and regional titles. He went cold turkey off the juice in his late 40's and began competing natural in bodybuilding and took second at the ESPN something or another. Anyway, he came completely off and remains healthy into his late 60's without needing any TRT. The guy walks around ripped and muscular at a solid 185-190 vs the 242-275 he was on gear. I think the need for trt as you age is largely misunderstood and exaggerated:

My dad is 78 yo and weighs 209 pounds and on the weekend benched 270 pounds after having a pec tear 18 months ago. He almost locked out 280 after the 270 attempt and he's never taken TRT or any gear at all. He's not as strong as he was at his peak power lifting years as a natural lifter but still doing very well considering his setbacks. He competed regularly in a drug free powerlifting federation in his younger years before he suffered a bad back injury about 25 years ago in a car accident where he nearly died, but he always had the capacity to grind back and get strong again. He first started training in the gym in his mid 30's so was a late starter as well. He trains around the restrictions of his back injury and the side affects of his brain injury at the time (bruising and blood clot) that can still cause him extreme headaches or tiredness once in while but when he's not suffering from that he's full send in the gym. He's always adjusting his training over the years due to his age and restrictions and I guess injuries from the car accident as well. When I look at what he does and feel if he can get through that without TRT then there's no reason I cant do the same as well especially when I haven't had those setbacks or near death because of a car accident. My dad is so dedicated with his training, diet and getting adequate sleep. He is such an inspiration to me. If you want to take TRT that's a personal choice and so is deciding it if you really need it or not. Like someone else said in the comments I also think the need for trt as you age is largely misunderstood and exaggerated.

Maybe one day. I don't know. I feel good now. Specific exercises I don't do anymore. I don't flat bench at all. I use dumbells. Since the tricep surgery, I lost strength and I just can't lock out my left arm completely. I squat once a month. No more DL's. It is what it is. I'm not disappointed. I'm just glad I have my health and I can still work out.

Im 36 and started 4 months ago. I had low t 257. I feel like im back in my twenties again. However, you have to continiously remind yourself that you arent 20. I went to a mens clinic and im on 200mg / week (.5 ml x 2). Its a life changer. Once you get past the anxiety part of it. Hearing all the horror stories of body builders dying and stuff. But they are taking crazy amount of testosterone and other meds .

Ran it again total t 500 free t 10.5 no longer low. But they still gave me a prescription. Going back and forth on what to do sucks lol just wondering what that 1200 feels like

Good advice because once your on the little natural testosterone goes away. If you decide it's not for you you levels may not get back to were they were, or most say you feel crappy for a while before they come back up. My psa jumped up the dr gave me a cancer scare. Hemoglobin can go up... there's more to it..most regular providers think they know about trt but there knowledge is very black and white and skewed

At that low, you best jump on TRT asap. Start at .4 twice a week injections. Give it a few weeks and see how you feel. I keep my levels around 1200-1500.
@catdaddy666
@catdaddy666 Жыл бұрын
You can start now. Try 200mg a week split into two pins (injections) lets say Tuesday and Friday. You'll save money doing it on your own. 22g needle to draw and 25g to inject. Inject ventrogluteal which is above your hip just below and behind your hip bone . Don't eject too far back as you'll get inflammation and pain in the fascia band down your leg.

When I asked a medical doctor with over 30 years in medicine and a member of the board of ASAM, weather I could use TRT for joint pain problems from working out and just life catching up, the Only answer was, it can lead to depression, mood disorders, cancers, blood problems, etc, etc, etc. So I just take the fucking pain. Push my mind to heal the body. Use meditation, anger, frustration, hunger, temperament, patience..to condition and heal, because what choice is there.

BS, I take it and my pain ended. Dude I was tired, in chronic pain, and losing my muscle. I got tested and my T was non-existent. I got tested again and same. Now I take it once a week and feel so much better, and NO it does not cause depression, actually being low causes this along with ED and more.

The reason why TRT is so prevalent is because of so many of the X-geners having used PEDs. Will be even more prevalent as PED usage is more common.

You dont GET big from trt, you STAY big(get) because you reduce the muscle mass loss and strength loss from aging. If your a regular 200 pound guy, you probably can be 210 after saying on trt for a bit but thats mostly water. If you want to get big youll have to go much harder than TRT

Your right about men lying about TRT dosages. The normal total Testosterone in a male ranges 300 ng/dl - 1,100 ng/dl. Dallas McCarver died at 26 in 2017 and at autopsy his Total test was 5,500 ng/dl. By comparison mine tested at 30 ng/dl before starting, and a GP or urologist will try and get you to 700 ng/dl. In 1990 they enacted the Anabolic Steroid Controlled substance act of 1990 made all steroids blackmarket and there is really no long term data for long term use since the majority of the blackmarket crap was all fake according to Bill Phillips Book “Anabolic Reference Guide” that came out in 1991 with monthly updates of hundreds of counterfeit gear. In 2010 the AMA decided to promote TRT to increase physicians revenue like they did with OxyContin. They now have comprehensive long term data showing the effects of long term steroid use. Back in 2010 my GP prescribed TRT when I turned 50 for lethargy and mild ED. After 5 years of being on TRT I began getting severe tendinitis in both knees. My GP recommended NSAID’s and Icy Hot. Five years later my tendinitis was so bad I couldn’t sit for more then 15 min without extreme pain in both knees. I was working on my car in my driveway, and went to stand up and ruptured the quad tendons in both my knees. When I went to the ER and met with the head of orthopedic surgeons, she asked me if I was on TRT. When I answered yes, both she and her P/A looked at one another and said that was probably why I blew both my quads. Apparently long term use of anabolic steroids can cause the tendons to weaken and pull away from the connecting bone. The O/S said they nearly 99 % of all Bilateral QTR repairs she does is on men over 45 on TRT, and over 80% of the Unilateral QTR repairs are on men over 45 who are on TRT. Apparently the Quadricep tendons tend to be more likely to pull away then the tendons in the elbow, simply because the legs get more use. The scary thing is that once the quad tendon starts to pull away from the patella, performing something as simple as getting up off the ground, or walking down stairs, or any sudden stress can cause them to rupture without warning. This obviously does not happen in 100% of men on TRT, but appears to be nearly 100% of the bilateral QTR and 80 % of the unilateral ruptures that one O/S sees in their practice, and statistically that shows a significant coronation between men over 45 who are on TRT and QTR (Quadricep Tendon Ruptures) injuries and is something to be concerned about
