I could see the Tillman trade being another master piece of a move by Brad Stevens. Because let’s just say the Celtics do go on and win the title this year and Al Horford decides to retire in the off season, who would step into his spot? Xavier Tillman. He’s a slightly undersized big who is a great rebounder and defender, he’s obviously not as good of a shooter as Horford but let’s just hope he develops a middy

What is wrong with you people? Are you really this clueless? First off, Tillman is 6.8. HE'S NOT A CENTER. DON'T BE STUPID. Bam, Embiid, Giannis/Lopez, Allen/Mobley, Banchero/Wagner are all ROLLING IN THE FLOOR LAUGHING AT YOUR COMMENT, HOPING BRAD STEVENS IS STUPID ENOUGH TO INSTALL A 6.8 UNDERSIZED P4 AT THE CENTER POSITION. Spoiler alert, Stevens is not that stupid. Second, Tillman is a PRACTICE PLAYER ON A BARGAIN CONTRACT. Now, put down your disdain for my aggressive call-out and follow the trail and learn something. Semi WAS A PRACTICE PLAYER.....ON A ROOKIE CONTRACT. When he was eligible for a significant salary increase, he was replaced by GW (A PRACTICE PLAYER) ON A ROOKIE CONTRACT. When GW was eligible for a significant salary increase, he was replaced by Lance Stevenson (A PRACTICE PLAYER), at a much lower contract that GW received on the open market. When Brad Stevens was afforded the opportunity to make even better friends with a ravaged Memphis team, AND AGIAN REDUCE THE TEAM'S SALARY (and tax penalties, THIS SEASON AND IN THE FUTURE), he flipped PRACTICE PLAYER L. STEVENS for ANOTHER PRACTICE PLAYER TILLMAN. When PRACTICE PLAYER Tillman is eligible for a significant pay raise (next season), he will also BE REPLACED BY A SIMILARLY BODY STYLED PLAYER......ON A ROOKIE, OR VERY LOW LEVEL STANDARD, contract. And when that future PRACTICE PLAYER is eligible for a fat pay raise, he will then be replaced with a low salaried player. In the regular season, sans blowouts or periods of multiple injuries, teams can only go 7/8 deep. In the playoffs, injuries or not, teams can only go 6/7 deep. Tillman's contract status eliminates him from meaningful participation.

@qt3dot14ish9 ай бұрын
Dude, you are clueless to how the NBA operates. Tillman is a PRACTICE PLAYER and I promise you that barring a Memphis Grizzlies-type injury avalanche, Tillman will NEVER be any more of a Celtic participant than a PRACTICE PLAYER. Semi was a PRACTICE PLAYER and when he was due a big salary increase, he was flipped for GW, a SIGNIFICANTLY CHEAPER PRACTICE PLAYER. When GW, a PRACTICE PLAYER,, was due a pay raise, he was flipped for L Stevens, a significantly CHEAPER PRACTICE PLAYER. When Brad Stevens had the opportunity to flip a low paid PRACTICE PLAYER L Stevens, for a significantly cheaper PRACTICE PLAYER Tillman, he'd did so. Tillman, a PRACTICE PLAYER, is due his pay raise after this season so he will be gone and replaced by another CHEAP PRACTICE PLAYER. It's all just a continuous PRACTICE PLAYER inventory management daisy chain. He will be gone after this season because Brad Stevens can get, and for salary management reasons, MUST, bring in a player who will be SIGNIFICANTLY CHEAPER PRACTICE PLAYER next season. You guys keep thinking that every marginal acquisition (ie PRACTICE PLAYERS) is done as if those marginal PRACTICE PLAYERS impacted something other that filling out the PRACTICE squad. Those transactions are simply PRACTICE PLAYER management (ie inventory management), and salary control management. Brad Stevens just flipped PRACTICE PLAYER L Stevens for a significantly cheaper PRACTICE PLAYER. Flipping these marginal PRACTICE PLAYERS for cheaper PRACTICE PLAYERS is just one continuous salary management daisy chain,nothing more.

I have a lot to say as a Celtics fan. This team is great, Kristaps and jrue have been exactly what the team needed. Jrue is Marcus with better defense and better offence. KP is the key to the team, he unlocks what Tatum and brown can be, his 2 man game with either wing is almost completely unstoppable. The whole time I’ve watched this team they’ve needed a big desperately and now we see what it is they were missing. Tatum has been mvp level this year but is making a lot of sacrifices to win. Dwhite is another level this year, he does whatever you need offensively and defensively he’s great partnered with jrue. The bench was shaky to begin with but they really come round and contributed in a big way. If kp can stay healthy the only thing that stops this team is themselves. Like you said they’ve always had a habit of settling, I think there’s still adjustment to be made with jaylen and Jayson, the help is there now and they need to use it. Even without a ring I’ll be happy with another finals appearance, I think the window for this team will be open for a few seasons health provided.

I think the lack of hype comes from a few factors. 1) We've seen the Celtics make deep playoff runs so many times since 2018 that it's almost become a "prove it" year; 2) I think there's some distrust of Tatum as the best player on a championship team after the 2022 Finals; 3) I think there's some distrust of Mazzulla after he was so slow to make adjustments in last year's playoffs. I'm not saying any of those things are fair. But I think that's many people's mentality. A lot of people are in "wait and see" mode with them. I think one of the reasons why people aren’t talking about the Celtics as much is because this iteration (the Jayson Tatum / Jaylen Brown duo) of the team has all the makings of a championship run but has yet to convert. They’ve been going to the playoffs within their first two years of being drafted to the team and have had deep runs 4 of the 6 times that they have been. Even going to the finals once. Still, the consensus is that they just can’t get it done when it matters. I think people fail to see that these guys are young-25 and 27 respectively. They’ve also accomplished more for their age than many guys will in their entire NBA careers. To be honest, now would be the time for them to make serious pushes to win it all. If he wasn't, Celtics would definitely close that game out and might have even gave the Nuggets a arun for their money since they have the higher seed. Also, this team is so much different from last year's. They don't have Smart who makes bad late-game decisions, and they also don't have Brogdon and Timelord who were basically missing-in-action the whole playoffs because of untimely injuries. More importantly, they have Porzingis now which unlocks the post and gives the shooters lots of space because he is a threat anywhere

It's unfortunate that the Celtics have lost recently against the Clippers and Lakers - the national media loves LA and focus on their games. Even though we crushed them in LA in December, we did put up a couple of garbage games against them. Particularly that game against the Lakers where the Lakers shot 53% from 3 (with no AD/Lebron), basically eliminated them from title contention to the national media. After that game they were practically being dropped down to Wizards level, trash, mentally weak, will get swept out. They have the best numbers in the clutch over all, but against Golden State in OT and Denver, they came up small with some weak shots at the end on national TV. I get it - they won't be able to shut anyone up until they win a title.

This is the best Celtics team since 2008. If they don't win the championship, I'd assume or more of the following led to it: injury, poor situational play, and/or poor strategy/coaching. The Celtics are getting less ink than some other teams because we know their baseline is getting to the conference semi-finals. The questions are whether they take the next three steps, winning the ECSF, the ECF, and the Finals. This was obvious after the Jrue Holiday trade, already having acquired Porziņģis and lost Smart. One factor which is significant is that Mazzulla is now a second-year head coach. It seems that he cost them a few wins last post season, including games which unnecessarily extended series. Those mistakes have mostly been eliminated this season, though there have still been a few head-scratchers. The Celtics have one flaw this season: an over-reliance on 3s. If they can shift to a more balanced offense when the 3s are missing, they will be unstoppable, if Porziņģis stays healthy.

The others on the list: Steph, Luka, Donovan, Trae, Klay, Hardaway Jr, Dame, Bogdanovic, PG13. One of these is not like the others. The problem is the Celtics' losses. They are 2-4 combined against the Nuggets, Clippers, TWolves, and Thunder. In the east, they are a combined 6-3 against the Magic, Pacers [2x], and Bucks. Their path to the Finals is pretty good, but winning the championship will require flexibility if the 3pt shots are missing.

@@UnconventionalReasoning and they have that flexibility in Kristaps Porzingis being a 7’3 unicorn who basically acts as an offensive release valve. When he gets the ball on the block, it’s either a foul or a bucket every single time. He’s simply too big. And again, the post up numbers this year are crazy high and second only to the Nuggets. I don’t have the numbers off the dome, but I feel it’s like top 3 in both frequency and efficiency. JT is not just firing 3s. He’s got a fadeaway middy now that is absolutely automatic. Yes, he takes a lot of 3s. It’s not like he’s dogshit from there. He’s shooting 36 percent on the season. And in the modern NBA, guess what? You HAVE to shoot a lot of 3s and shoot well, that’s just the math of it all. But Boston now has a more diversified offense to handle dry shooting spells than last year. All our guys can post up. All our guys can dish assists. So again, I fail to see what the worry is.

If he misses a playoff series, that's a big loss. Yes, a diversified offense is good, over the course of the season. Derrick White is 40 percent from 3, Jrue Holiday is shooting like 66 percent on corner 3s, good for best in the league. Al is shooting 40 percent. Our 3 point shooting comes from the aggregate, not just one guy. And all of our guys are pretty damn good perimeter shooters. Are they the splash brothers? No. But they don’t have to be. In the aggregate, our 3 point shooting is damn efficient and has won a lot of games. And what makes you think they’ll forget that they have a diversified offense in the playoffs? NgL I love this team but sometimes they remind of the cowboys .. they tend to play down to their opponents and some of those losses if they had played a bit cleaner they would definitely have like 6-7 losses . It it’s a new team essentially but they can go cold and turn it over a lot. But for sure proud of the team.

@@jehem2239This is the first year since the Jays have been drafted where the Celtics clearly have the best team in the league. They’ve had the best record in a year or two in the past. But they were never actually the best overall team. Every team they’ve lost to up until this point they were clearly the inferior team besides last year against Miami and it took a serious ankle sprain for Tatum in the first minute of game 7 to ruin Bostons real shot at coming back from 0-3. This is the best Celtics team since 2008. Fair to assume nobody will beat them in a 7 game series.
@MihoyMinoy-si8fb9 ай бұрын
@RittenhousesRifle Correct. Not only have the Celtics up until this year never had the best team. They have also never been the healthiest team when eliminated from the playoffs. Barring no injuries to their top 6 players they should win the championship this year. I don’t see anybody beating them in a 7 game series.

You forget the to put the pictures of the real dudes. Holiday, White, and Prozingis. These are the pictures you should be showing. As for the record what is the difference between this year and last year. I’ll tell you it’s Holiday White and Prozingis. These are the guys that have made this team win. It has nothing to do with Tatum and Brown other that their ISO ball which you can see during the course of the game some of them player really do not like it. The fade away shot you are talking about is Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Bottom line if this team won it won’t be because of Tatum and Brown. They had their chance and they failed. As for best player you said nothing about where Tatum is on the defensive end of the court. You young guys thinks is you can score the basketball you’re great. New flash dude offense do not win NBA CHAMPIONSHIPS defense do. This is just a lot of run off at the mouth. If Tatum is so great why do he needs Holiday and White. Dude please list to how you sound. One minute Tatum is all world but you can’t say anything about his defensive play.
@jacobwillis97959 ай бұрын

I still think that BOS is overrated considering their record. This team can’t compete in high pressured playoff games. They dread teams with a physical front court. Bam/Butler/Martin is just one example. Ty Lue and Spo know that all they can do on offense is shooting 3s and finding mismatches for Tatum and Porzingis. I don’t see them beating teams like MIA/NY/MIN/DEN/LAL/LAC in a 7 game series.
