They're on pace to win 65 games, and they've had the hardest schedule in the league to date. That 65 win pace is from 3 overtime losses and 2 losses to poor teams, and 1 to the pacers in the IST, so they've beaten all the good teams they've played in regulation and chances are they don't keep losing to bad teams. I think what not a lot of people appreciate or notice about the Celtics this year is the responsibility Jaylen Brown has had for them on the defensive end. If he isn’t matched up against the other teams’ primary ball handler, he is usually going against the strongest player because he is one of the few guys on that roster who can take that contact in the chest and/or clean up the glass. With JB taking a primary ball handler, it allows Jrue to operate as this sort of switching free safety, where he can help on everything, switch, or switch after navigating screens and have KP operating as a drop defender. But none of this is really universal to their defense, because sometimes they change the coverage completely and stick Jrue on the other team’s center lol

What it comes down to is that the Celtics have a starting 5 who can all ball-handle, drive, shoot from 3, and defend. You can slow them down, and you can play almost perfect defense against them most of the game. But overall, it's just too much firepower. You stop White and Holiday, and Tatum will go for 40 with Porzingas and Brown going for 25 each. Stop Tatum and Brown if you can? The other 3 guys could all put up 30. Too many guns. There's a lot of suck in my life right now. The Celtics are a major bright spot.

Great breakdown. They indeed have the best starting 5. its the bench thats mediocre at best, trash at worst. lost in the discussion here is that the celtics have put up these numbers with injuries/horford load management and playing the toughest schedule in the nba so far.
