Just for reference Alcantara is pronounced “Al-Can-Tar-A”. It’s a specific synthetic suede-like material often used in the interiors of high-end/luxury cars. Many argue it is better for “performance” (over something like leather) because alcantara is a “grippier” material, making it easier for seats to hold you in place / gloves to hold onto a steering wheel. The key thing to know about Alcantara is that it is a brand name. There are lots of synthetic suede materials, but only one is Alcantara (similar to Teflon). So the fact that they’ve gone for “proper Alcantara” over a no-name synthetic suede will be in part due to consistent quality, but also marketability. Similar to putting “Brembo brakes” on a road-going sports car. The main difference between Suede & Alcantara is its’ core materials. Traditional suede is made from cow hide, whereas Alcantara is entirely synthetic in construction (polyester and polyamide if I remember correctly). It’s also worth nothing that any Alcantara product / surface requires regular maintenance / cleaning. Otherwise any dirt / oils get absorbed and rubbed into the surface, which can cause a matting effect (or generally just makes it look a bit grim)

Also about half the weight of suede (not that it matters for this chair). I love the stuff and have it in all my cars. Having it on a desk chair would be very nice.

@@mrufo2297 huh, never knew that! That’s pretty neat stuff! If it didn’t require regular maintenance / cleaning compared to a leather alternative, I’d deffo switch to it. But I know I’m a lazy shit, and I like doing the occasional fast-food run lol

wow thanks for all the info, super useful. I definitely go for the mesh version on this. I expect it to be quite "grippy" too since people mentioned it doesnt feel nice to sit naked on it (I dont wear super short pants and dont work or play naked so i will be fine). I need the grippiness because if i get pushed forward (like in my current chair) i sit badly and get back ache

I have this chair. Buy it, you won't regret it. I used to have a Herman Miller Mirra for 7 years and this is WAY more comfortable. Edit: Only 2 minor things about this chair is the armrests move forwards and backwards easily however they don't move during normal use. The other thing is that this chair will punish you for bad posture so sitting properly is a must.

Many reviewers said the arm rests can be moved front/back too easily and without any locking mechanism or resistance. You should look into it.

@@silapakornsangsinchai8392 been using it daily and yes if you intentionally move them they move easy. But when using the chair normally they never move on their own

I've seen this a lot and it's one reason I haven't order it and Fractal Design haven't said anything about. Everything else looks good though.

Different opinion: I think "Gaming chair" is a good call from Fractal. As an ergonomic chair, it would be ...just another average ergonomic chair. But in the world of "gaming chairs" - it actually stands out from the crowd (and in a good way)

@@forestR1 "it doesn't look stupid enough?" well yes. Nothing linked with games. No RGB, no "headset or game controller or cup" holder, no game theme, no exuberant embroidered logo. Except if they mean games like chess of course but that's not the most popular game on PC...

Sounds really good to me. @GGF Events Do you think the chair could move easily on a woven carpet? The wheels seem to have no problems at all with unregular floor materials 🙂

@@eleonora7490 I think carpet would be ok. But most of the time when any chair goes on carpet you should get a chair mat anyway to protect the carpet.

The armrests do not have a separate tilt adjustment function. It will be very uncomfortable to sit at the table with the chair reclined backwards. There are plenty of other disadvantages. For $500, this is definitely not a gaming chair.
