Amazing video, exactly what I have been struggling with 🙏🏻

I just redid the wires on two XR10 Pro G2s...I apply masking tape to the case and fan (if still installed) to protect it from solder work while its clamped down or taped to desk. I also use a larger solder tip for desoldering wires and tinning wires, but will switch to a slightly smaller tip for soldering back wires. The larger tip will get the solder melting fast to get wires off without holding it on the terminals for too long. These large 11-13awg wires will take some effort to get the solder going to remove them and if you hold the iron on it too long, the terminals also come loose from the PCB. I also do the tap on desk to get excess solder out of the terminals, but this is where the tape on the ESC helps a lot from solder splatter getting on the case or fan or open port. I use a 340C setting with lead solder, 380C if needed for lead free.with a ceramic element Hakko.

Still a great clip , I soldered for 7 hours a day for 5 years for work and I'm still learning how to perfect the art ! Always slip yr shrink on first if it won't fit over yr connectors !

Removing the board from the case helps as the heat sink absorbs heat from the soldering Iron.

HOBBYWING Official, I have a max 10 esc with a 4000kv motor. I bought it as a combo just over a month ago. It stops moving and even dies after I run it a couple of times up and down my street. The steering and the fan on the esc still works, but it simply just won't move. It's almost like it's dead because it activates the breaks, but the battery is fully charged. I'm wondering if you know why it would be doing this. It would be greatly appreciated if you replied. Still love your amazing products.

Brilliant stuff, I thought I was ready to resolder my ESC, but I'm gonna order some solder wick first!

Friend! please help me I bought the esc it came without the cable, which connects to the motor, what is the gauge, (section) awg that I bought for the motor? What would be the cable? Do I buy it with a silicone cover? I'm going to use a 540v 8.5T motor in this 10bl120 g2 esc

Tried using an older soldering gun with no luck. Thought it might be the solder. Tried a new 60w iron and success!!

Dang use your solder sucker 😂 and demo one for the people. Nice job though. Not cringing. Sometimes it doesn’t go so smooth ha. Using a bare wire is a great solder wick too.

So if my wife from the esc to the battery is damaged but still works it's safe to do this ? This is like the first video showing this. I bought some 10 gauge silicone wire 200c as long I as remember what's positive and negative I should be good right lol never soldered before so this will be my first project and I'm nervous

If I wanted to add a flash pack to my HW XR10 pro esc do I have to remove the cap pack that’s on it first?
@j-1lokes294 Жыл бұрын
What’s up. I recently wired my xrt10 pro backwards and started to smoke. Notice that the cap burn out. If I replace it will it work.
@HOBBYWINGOfficial Жыл бұрын
Typically yes, just the cap gets the damage and replacing it is in order.

What type of solder are you using? I’m having issues soldering the motor wires to the ESC. The solder isn’t taking to the ESC posts. Thank you

Gonna try this never thought about cutting the end off of pretinned wires. Been fighting a hobby wing esc for an hour hopefully I haven't toasted the thing already trying to get the wires to stick. 🤔😡😵

Hye bro how many voltage u use for soldering esc?..

Dam I needed some serious heat to do this. How hot can my esc get before it’s ruined?
@HOBBYWINGOfficial Жыл бұрын
Some flux will help. The temperature is not as much of a "problem" for damage as the time holding the iron on to the ESC is. Overall, if the solder is not melting, flux helps, but a hotter iron would be the next step.

I have a harbor freight snieder iron, what tip do I need?
@ezveedub2382 жыл бұрын
Generally a 5mm-6mm chisel tip is what works.

Nice, just had some problems with soldering my HW axe xerun esc v1.1. What i wish is not bother with this soldering. It is a great esc and motor. Please Hobbywing make all the soldering and give us just conectors to plug the cables. This soldering is about 1 hour procces for someone who never did this. This video is about 30 minutes with cuts :) so it is a great prove how complicated it is.

What awg size are the esc and battery wires ? 12 or 14 ?

May i ask, what the name of your solder tools? Looks pretty easy and helpful to use

Why didn't you use any flux to help remove the original high temp solder ?

My esc is not working but esc fan is not working and receiver light is working can you fix the problem
@pedmar00724 жыл бұрын
the power still flows through the esc but the circuit board is malfunctioning. Escs aren't fixed they're thrown away and replaced. Honestly it's better to do that than trying to fix and the esc may not work as it should. These Escs are very delicate, so it's best to replace it and move on. I've had one come apart in a crash, it went back together np and was working for what I initially thought was good to go but it started giving power dips and even though it initially was working there was damage inside that wasn't evident immediately after the crash.
