This movie’s entire second act is breathtaking. -Tea House fight -Oracle conversation -Burly Brawl -Merovingian -Chateau -Parking garage fight -Freeway Chase which includes the CTS, Trinity and Keymaker on the bike, Morpheus v the Agent (complete with Samurai sword), Naiobi catching him with her car, ‘go kick his ass’, and all capped off by a Neo mid-air save. I’ll defend this movie to the end, it’s an absolute all-timer.

I love the way reloaded does a nice job of setting up all the players and then in the freeway chase, you see all of them entering this incredibly dangerous battlefield of sorts of the freeway. Suddenly you have agents, twins, cops, and the humans, in some kind of 4 way battle against each other with a single pawn in the middle of it that they're fighting over. Each side has different strengths and behaviour, slightly different goals, etc, so it makes it such a complex equation to figure out how the humans will escape. Even the freeway itself gets some setup with the characters all knowing how dangerous the freeway is, all knowing it's "suicide" and you see why they had good reason to think that moments later.

If you think about it, Morphin is actually "The One". He is the one who can rally the spirit of the people of Zion from fear to believing they can fight the machine army and win. He is the one who finds Neo, the one who cam fight the machines effectively, and possibly bring about peace. He also was the one who trained/led Neo and Trinity. He was "The One" who mad the end of the war and the survival of Zion possible.

This is just one of my favorite scenes in movie history. The fact that the heroes are on the run from the twins, an enemy that they cannot beat no matter how many times they try. Link's comment...infers to us that 'The Freeway' is a dangerous place. But there's no time to explain just yet. The police are here now too, so you have to change course and route to the freeway. The music keeps growing in its intensity repeatedly, then muting itself again for another build up. This is just the tension. Even if you've watched the scene before, you know things have to keep escalating. Only then does the full shot of all the police cars coming after them come into view. And then trinity's lines...I know them by heart. She is a character we are supposed to be grounded with--Link is not a believer in the team, he's an outsider still. He is superstitious about the freeway. But Trinity, we trust her. We trust Morpheus. "You said it was suicide" There's no turning back now. They have no other options, they have to go headfirst into the belly of the beast. Their only hope, is that Morpheus was WRONG. EVEN THEN, we escalate the scene even more. Niobe calls in, saying that she's involved too, here to save everybody. We need all the help we can get. The music keeps resetting, over and over...still building... We get the incredible shot through the tunnel, seeing the true gravity of the situation, it's not just the twins but the entire matrix police force after them. AND WE HAVE TO ESCALATE EVEN MORE, the agents are involved. And the agents aren't even HERE for Trinity and Morpheus...they're just here for the keymaker! Then the drums kick in for Mona Lisa Overdrive. Welcome to the best action scene of its generation.

The lead up and the highway chase are the best scenes in Reloaded. It's not even close.

I love how there's almost five minutes with non-stop action, yet they are mostly just exposition shots to lay out all the elements that will be at play for the whole chase sequence. -Right before the point this video starts at, we have the brief fight between Morpheus and the twins. We come to know that the twins' "ghost form" is as much of a disadvantage to them as it is an advantage if manipulated right. Morpheus uses such ability against them to free Trinity, buy her and the Keymaker some time to start the car, and to avoid the twins from getting in it as well. The scene ends with one of the twins making a direct threat to Trinity as he phases through the car and "slices her throat" with his blade, so we know even moving cars activate that "ghost mode" in them. This serves as the first piece of the setting, an enemy that's agile, yet an exploitative ability if played smart... by both sides. -Right after the "introduction" to the range of the twins abilities, Neo is about to catch up with them, but the twin closes the door and the "shortcut" with it. Neo phones Link, who tells him the obvious: he is far away from the action. This is piece number two of the setting: No "get out of jail for free" card for Morpheus and Trinity, because Neo is really far. -Car sequence starts. The twins are following close and they have a gun with them, but they are not that great using it. Still, they also don't care if they have to take out some innocents to achieve their goal, as seen by the ramming of the car at the T intersection. They even smile afterwards. Third piece of the setting: the twins are determined to get them, and they don't even care if they take some "blue pills" in the process. -Cops are then added into the mix, while Morpheus and Link are on the phone. Links voices his concern about taking the freeway as an escape route, to which Morpheus answers with a scolding referencing his "lack of trust in him". But then even Trinity, someone who already trusts Morpheus doubles down on the concern of taking the freeway because Morpheus himself has said "it's suicide", to which even Morpheus responds that he HOPES he was wrong. Fourth piece: the freeway is a dangerous escape route. -Niobe calls Link to ask for them to go back to Zion (secondary plot at this moment), but then Link asks for her help. Fifth piece: the eventual "surprise rescue" by Niobe at the end of the chase is foreshadowed here. It's not a Deus Ex Machina at all, but an actual lucky coincidence. -As if the twins and cops were not enough, agents are introduced into the mix too, and they are after the Keymaker as well. Sixth piece: The formidable force that are the agents are also involved in the chase now. Everything they introduced in these few minutes plays an important role in the development of the chase. These key points are not fed to us in an blatantly obvious way, but through exposition to them. Everything in this "pre-chase on the freeway" sequence is masterfully written, acted and filmed. The focus shots on the key moments (like Morpheus's head shot on the twin when he's holding her, looking at the smiles on the twins, and even the low angle "hero shot" on Morpheus when he says he hopes he's wrong about the freeway). The score slowly building up and becoming more complex as event's unfold and finally reaching a constant adrenaline-inducing rhythm when the freeway sequence finally starts. To this day, still my all time favorite car chase sequence not just because of the well choreographed action itself, but also because of the well executed build-up before it.

I don't remember any scenes from Resurrections that are memorable, or any memorable music. Nothing. But Reloaded has a LOT of epic and breathtaking scenes! Monalisa Overdrive (The music from this scene) is my favorite!

1:19 I adore this shot. Great filmmaking is when the actions takes a breather for a moment to explain the plot and let the audience adjust to the next sequence, and this is a great example of that.

Not only that, but I love the sound design for both Reloaded and Resurrection. It has such a unique tone to it when it comes to stuff like gunfire; that desert eagle discharge noise might not sound powerful, but it's distinctive and I've always remembered it.
