THE CHATEAU DIARIES: Scones, Wild Strawberries...and Tango!

All of the chateau's inhabitants are in a celebratory news now that we finally have a gardener and are seeing big progress in the potager! We expressed our joy through TANGO! And I think we've all made (a teensy bit!) of progress since last week. And I made lots of scones to enjoy with tiny, scrumptious wild strawberries from the garden...

That awkward moment when you've sent a little light-hearted gift to The Elusive Nic and 2 days before it's due to be delivered he voices concerns about vlogging the unboxing of gifts 😯🙈😂 Don't worry Nic, we wouldn't send gifts to someone who was hinting for them. We know by the reactions that the gifts are unexpected and greatly appreciated. I find it hard to receive gifts but always happy to give them so perhaps he feels the same slight awkwardness as I. We send gifts as small tokens to say thank you and to show our appreciation for all the hard work Stephanie puts into the vlogs, and to also thank all of you for sharing many fun and happy moments with us. It really cheers us up and provides a welcomed, momentary escape from reality.

Yes. I think KZbin releases the generosity in people, particularly as more and more turn to some version of homesteading, the sharing culture, unlike we've ever seen - historically, that is. @@BlackDino468 Oh it was just a small gift to hopefully give him a giggle. Do you remember on their 2nd last attempt to move the sheep and it was all going so well until near the end and they forgot to close the gate? The sheep ran back through to their starting point and the herding had to start all over again 🤣 Well I sent him a mug with one sheep on the outside and multiple sheep on the inside at a gate with a sign on it saying "Please close the gate". It's just a funny keepsake of that memory for him, along with some Scotch Tasting Chocolates (hopefully with no nuts). I sent Marie a knitting bag with sheep on it for the same reason.

Aunty Tutu I disagree that the 'gift opening' is the reason for the success of this particular vlog. Rather it is the realism of the daily life of chateau life - obviously with the addition of the funny characters such as Isabelle - however, I fear people are indulging the gift opening as overproduced fake happiness and it can lack sincerity. Similar to a five-year-old opening presents at a birthday - but this happens in every video. Some things are best done in private and with a meaningful and earnest thank you to the giver as opposed to this mass thanking of strangers.

Oh my gosh Stephanie these glimpses into your life are just wonderful. What struck me with this video is that you do so many lovely things to keep your days fun and entertaining particularly at the present time. What a lovely mix of characterful people and Mummy as always shines. Apart from my own mother, of course, I would say she is the best mother in the world! Antoine, dear little chap and he reminds me of my own eleven year old, although on his own with no other children around to play with is having so much experience learning from you and Selmar and what a lovely way of life for him. I have to say it is very gracious of both Nick and Stephanie to tell their "fans" they open gifts not to appear to ask for them but as a thank you and also we are interested in seeing some of the gifts.....and Antoine opening all of them up. lol People who follow Stephanie (and Nick and Mummy) know you all have good hearts and soles. @@TheChateauDiaries, I would also like to share a poem I wrote. Although, it's not so much about the chateau, but rather more the truth you all, the people of the chateau, constantly remind me of. I actually wrote it a couple of years ago so as to remind myself to let go and enjoy, which is a bit hard for me sometimes. I want to thank you so very much for assuring me with every vlog that life is so much more vibrant and enjoyable if you just let yourself feel and be happy. And I love you all for that. I don't usually use rhymes, I'm more of a free verse type of gal, but this one just came out in sort of a rhyming form. So, here goes: Taste the quiet of happiness, Breathe the light of love. Get lost in blissful nothingness, Resist the ease of the known. Don’t be afraid of lust, my sweet. Embrace your human soul. Don’t deny yourself your vagaries, just trust yourself and grow.

Having an autoimmune issue, I've spent most of the past few months at home. I first found Doing it Ourselves on my newsfeed, and thus began my obsession with Michaels, then your vlogs, including all the advertising (and have found there are now many new products that I now know I must own, at some stage). It's been an absolute pleasure to feel a part of life at these chateau, and a lovely escape. Getting to know all the family and friends has been a delight. Selmar is a treasure, and it will be a sad day to see him gone. Mummy is my guru, and to be admired. ! It's also been lovely getting to know the illusive Nick and his beautiful family. The gift opening has been particularly fun to be a part of, and seeing Antoine delight in it has brought me joy. Thank you all for brightening my days. My ritual before I watch chateau diaries : boil the kettle , make a lovely cup of tea and pour in my Spode mug. Or make delicious coffee. make breakfast, turn on my diffuser or candle. Sit comfortable and binge watch! I enjoy it and love it.

So sad I missed the premiere this episode. I live outside Houston and our governor has relaxed some restaurant dining restrictions. We decided to go out for a mid afternoon dinner for my 71st birthday. All of our 4 children and our grandchildren live some distance from us. Quiet dinner for just my husband and me. I prefer the family noise, but we're all coping these days. I must thank Stephanie and her mummy for keeping my spirits high and entertaining me with their antics and adventures.

I have been watching your entries "in order" and have been reminded of Robert Frost. Not only because he is an amazing poet but because I am from Santa Cruz via Oakland and the Bay Area (California) and know that Frost was born in San Francisco. His poem "Acquainted with the Night" reminds me (so quaintly) of Frost and your love of 'histoire' est chateau vous, combined that I must remark, for you to compare and read at your leisure. Although France is "ages" away from North America, I, personally, feel an affinity. Thank you for sharing your courage against the world.
