THE CHATEAU DIARIES: THE ARRIVAL OF THE PEACHICKS!!!

It's been an action packed week at the Chateau de Lalande, filled with decorating, shopping and dancing. We went to the local market and charity shop, and organised lots of framing for paintings and prints. Tomaz and Selmar continued their stellar renovation of the laundry room, whilst Mummy and I had a meeting at the local marie to start the process of reinstating the lake. But Sif the Peahen was the busiest and most industrious of us all. She delighted everyone by hatching five perfect peachicks! Our hearts are melted! After all that excitement there was only one thing left to do - DANCE!

Where do I begin? So glad that Thomas was able to get clothes after his rough start to his journey. Selmar is most definitely a renaissance man! His kindness and care of the wee peas is truly heartwarming. And he can dance! The Tango has always fascinated me but I could not dance to save my life. As I watched this whole video, the chateau, the rural locale, the small village, the shops and market, and the charity shops, I was moved by this feeling of warmth, comfort and contentment. I may never get to buy a chateau in France, but maybe there is a way to create my own sanctuary, on my own little piece of God's Little Acre here in Canada. Thank you for being my inspirations. ❤️

The chicks! The tango! The new clothes for Thomas! Love you all so much!! As a former curator, I want to advise against hanging the artwork over the cooking area. The fluctuations in humidity and temperature, and the grease exposure, will damage the art over time, even though it’s framed. It’s such a gorgeous work - I’d hate to see it ruined. I want to come out to la land with my two daughters both are very creative and have great organizational skills. We would love to become part of the unveiling of your onion. Queanie since Tip last year I believe sif also lost her eggs around the same time as the other girl was sick. Sif was roosting on her eggs for months and becoming sick, as they weren’t hatching and she wasn’t eating the poor girl.

Thomas is amazing and has done so much work in a short amount of time. Laundry room is looking so good. Congratulations on the peachicks! We have some chickens, at its always exciting to see a clutch hatch. It's something you never get tired of seeing. Selmar, my goodness: He can build anything, he cares so much about people and animals, a graceful dancer, good teacher, and an exuberant laugh! Mlle. Stephanie, I would like to suggest that for a replacement of the garland in the kitchen, you take one of the old timbers found around the chateau and size it to about 5.08 cm by 20.32 cm or even 25.4 cm and have the length run (almost) the length of the wall. Drill holes along the wall & place some galvanized steel/iron bolts into the holes about 10.16 deep, gluing them in with construction adhesive. Drill the timber shelf with corresponding holes, making sure there is sufficient length to go into the timber for support. You don't have to glue the bolts onto the timber, The timber shelf can then be fitted onto the bolts & removed if you need to. You may need to sand down the timber, wash it with vinegar & then rub it down with s natural oil or melted beeswax with stain added to it. I like Black Walnut stain made from the hull of the walnut. Or you could paint the timber shelf to match the dish cupboard on the other side of the kitchen & add a small rail on top to hold more plates & platters!

Last time I did the tango was in a Swedish youth hostel with a Finnish sailor to music on TV in 1989. Even in jeans and nikes it was marvelous. Honestly think Selmar will have so many offers for jobs from what has been shown here. I am so curious about still waters... what did he do before he came to Lalande? @@deedeelovelace2901 It was a nice chapter. My last dance was 2015 with Patch Adams in a cafe in West Virginia after planting spruce trees with a group. Dancing days are over thanks to a neuromuscular disease unless find a very strong tall partner. Not looking though.

The 100Stars prints are phenomenal and my Christmas gifts are SORTED. The blue willow prints are just to die for. How wonderful that Mummy gets a robe, too. :). I keep thinking back to the reading you got and that the previous owner's spirit was pulling the people you need to the Chateau! I think Selmar and Thomas are exactly that. Happy to hear about the work on the lake restoration is progressing. I still think a water turbine can generate some free power for the chateau. Fascinated by the work Tomaz & Selmar are doing in the laundry room. Awesome table! Sorry to hear about Tomaz having his luggage stolen. You need a a bacteria & enzyme treatment that you can add to the grease section of your septic tank. It will break up, eat & dissolve grease & other clogging materials & keep your septic system operating better. In the States, we use a product called "Rid-X" It can be used for all waste systems in the chateau & will keep the cleaner & operating properly if used on a regular basis. I'm sure you can find a similar product in your area. If not, let me know.

I have to give you a laugh, when I first glanced at the title of your vlog, I read Peach- icks, for a second I thought Mummy had ordered peach trees and that must be what you call baby peach trees!!! Then,,, doh! my eyes focused again and I realized it was the baby pea hen chicks! Excitement!!!! They are the most adorable chicks, jumping and flapping their wings. I wish I could go to your market and all the lovely second hand goods is amazing, and such a good price. Lalande is really coming along, it is so beautiful. If I wasn't so old (67) and happily married to my beautiful husband for 49 years tomorrow (2nd July) I would just absolutely grab Selmar and marry him, he is such a treasure. We got engaged at 16 and married at 18, I don't know where the years have gone. Looking forward to seeing Percy back in the arms of his beloved Isobell. It was was so lovely to come back and view this vlog; it was sweet because of the baby chicks arival but fascinating also to recall those wonderfully productive times of summer when Tomaz was there doing all of his creative projects with Selmar. Today as always it was so nice to see the current Laland family. The addition of the peachicks is wonderful, I hope for a flock of peacocks to wonder the grounds of Laland as they grow and get their lovely colors. The tango lesson as always was wonderful Selmar. The work in the laundry room is coming along great. I had afternoon tea while watching today. Steph, I made cheese and chive scones.....thanks for the idea to make them.
