Willow is absolutely gorgeous! She is not a house cat but a Cheetah cub! Even a 'Dog Person' should be able to appreciate that. A Cheetah is one of the most amazing animals on this earth. Just see a Cheetah run. Absolutely breathtaking!😍👍

I am HIGHLY allergic to feline dander, but oddly, not "big cats," as I found out when a friend who worked for a zoo managed to hide a plan from me, and I walked into a room where MUFASA (full grown African male lion) was on the table, sedated thankfully, and I didn't sneeze once.

Apart from Willow, the best part of this video is when Anneka brought up trophy hunting and the tired line of 'it's for conservation'. I was so pleased to hear an expert, Giles, agree with that! I'm from Zimbabwe and absolutely hate trophy hunting, it makes me sick thinking about it but whenever I say that conservation does not start by killing the animal you're trying to conserve, I get told off by the professional hunters and guides that I am wrong and that without the money generated by trophy hunting they wouldn't be able to do half of what's needed. My counter arugment is that photo safaris generate more money than hunting does and the animals get to live. Also if hunting really was driving conservation then why are the animal numbers dwindling so rapidly because hunting hasn't slowed down that much, even with the security concerns of travelling in southern Africa, and hunting quotas are always exceeded by hunters, they just pay the fine and charge it as part of the package. In Zim everyone has a price and to the government, starving rural people or the people making money off killing animals, the animals are not prioritised, not even as a national commodity, so there are only a select amount of wonderful people who work tirelessly to safeguard what little we have left. Even the people who profit from killing the animals don't seem to worry about the future when there's no animals left to kill, everything is about the here and now in Zimbabwe - it's a symptom of living in so much economic uncertainty and civil unrest. It's a mess...
@carolgoerke31094 жыл бұрын
Greta Hunt You are so right on all your points. The fur always looks better on the animal!! They are making faux fur that looks real so there is no need to hunt an animal for its fur. It’s just cruel no matter how you look at it! Trophy hunting should be a crime with attached jail time! You are also on point. Photographs and videos are truly what people want when in the presence of wildlife. It’s a blessing to be in their company!
@barbaravance67744 жыл бұрын
Agreed! I follow a few big conservation persons online. And the thought of Trophy hunting literally makes me ill. When I watch videos of tourists who feel they have the right to kill an animal simply to stuff if or take it's head, tusks etc...I wish that we had tougher laws about importing animals. As an American I wish we had tougher laws. I remeber watching docs. about animals as a child was astounded by their beauty. On this point, I have two sons. I have NEVER been to the circus. Except Cirque du Soleil.😆 I never wanted to see animals hit with whips. Or being treated badly. But, my youngest son showed me how zoos neglect some of their animals. He was 5 and wanted to go see the animals. So I took him while his brother was on n school on his 5 the birthday. We were walking past the big cat sanctuary. And he pointed to a Lion, all by himself and asked if he wasn't sad all alone. Then he said he was panting like a dog. That he had no water in his dish. And we went and found someone right away. So, I paid much closer attention as we walked. At the end of the day I had made note of all of the problems we had seen. I called the administrator the following day. And made sure they followed up on these issues. But I still kept going back to the lonely Lion. After that, we stopped going to the zoo. And every year for their birthday, we would pick an animal to sponsor in conservation. That was the gift we gave our children and mankind! A hopeful, future with animals that were in dwindling numbers. My Mother-in-law, once said to me how she wished more people had thought of this. I'm just glad I did. And when I can, I try to pass the idea along to others. If we all sponsored just one animal each, imagine what we could do,?( Edited typo)

They could swap to joining up with scientists in field who tranq the animals. These trophy hunters could join up and use a tranq gun to shoot the animal and yet animal still lives
@gretahunt44012 жыл бұрын
@@charlesdoyle3630 yeah you usually have to be properly trained to tranq animals. Usually vets do it or specially licensed wildlife experts. There’s a big difference between shooting to kill and shooting to tranquillise. And trophy hunters generally specifically like the killing.

Cheetahs are my absolute favourite animals on the planet. Their elegance, speed, beauty and strength on the one hand and their vulnerability and small cat-like behaviour on the other hand makes them so unique. I could watch them move and run for hours... BUT I would never dream of having a cheetah as a "pet". To say the least, they belong into the wild. All efforts should go to protecting these beautiful animals in their natural habitat instead of removing them from it.

*Trophie hunting* just hearing these two words to describe and treat wildlife it really puts me in so much rage, the reason why is because of how some or as should say most people see them as something not living like an object, instead seeing them as something that has value, life and a purpose like we do. Most of the time I just wonder how people who kill animals for pleasure and for profit, not see that their way of life is similar to ours they have a family like us they have to work for their food to feed their young just like we do and most importantly be their for us when we need them to comfort and protect us from certain situations. I wonder what pleasure they gain after taking a beautiful life away just to mount them on a wall as an trophie for memories. How would you feel like if someone hunted your family down just make a trophie of them? What I a beautiful cheetah she is reminds me of my cat rocky which acted the same way she did very aggressive and playful always curious of what I feel about him. Love this one.

Cheetahs are not on any legitimate hunters list of trophy animals--- it is illegal to take them.
@DFX2KX6 жыл бұрын
The Whole idea behind it: The wardens of these wildlife reserves shoot animals themselves all the time: The sick ones, the elderly, etc (whether that should happen is a separate issue). The idea is let's let big game hunters, who already pay top dollar to hunt in Africa, do that instead. Charge them a fortune for the privilege, and then use those funds to help run the reserve in question. (When hunters go on these hunts, they're told which animal they're allowed to take, and they're *supposed* to limit the licenses to the animals that they would otherwise remove anyway, making it rather rare)/ In practice, however: The wardens sell tags for animals that are healthy in addition to the sick ones (which is illegal, but it happens). And on top of it all, the money isn't even finding it's way into back into the reserves that this arrangement was ostensibly there to help. It wouldn't even be necessary if the global community put more then a tiny drop of it's GDP into preservation. However, since that's not going to happen... If you can come up with a way to convince half the people in the US to donate half of their tax returns, that'd crush any funding record I can think of... But good luck doing so, I haven't thought of a way. As for hunting *people*? "The Most Dangerous Game" is an excellent book on that mentality. And while HIGHLY illegal for obvious reasons... It does happen from time to time as far as I know. I've hunted before. But I only hunt what I'll eat for this exact reason, and I prefer to hunt invasive species over anything else (Wild Boar in North America is one example).

Your idiots ! Rhinos were farmed for thier horns but idiots like you came along to ban it and now they are at the brink of extinction ,if a trophy hunters money helps bring 5 of the animal killed to adulthood then hunt away! I would rather wildlife be persevered than your idiotic idealistic feelings,,it's sick how anti humanity most environmental and conservation advocates are,,there are very few advocates who seek symbiosis, you cannot fight humanity, no drug war or prohibition ever worked,,your feelings won't save animals
