Fun fact: Fabi tried playing the Stafford Gambit the whole day (even starting 1.e3 with White so he could reach the same structure with colours reversed), in both Titled Tuesdays. It took him something like 15 games to finally be able to play it. In that TT, he went 9/11 and even finished third!

Eric’s channel should be called “the joy of chess”. Whenever I put on one of his vids, I just can’t help but smile. He’s the Bob Ross of the chess world; he’s one of those people that inspires others, by his example, to make the world a better place.
@sumnerhayes3411
@sumnerhayes3411 Жыл бұрын
Nah, Eric seems like a nice guy. Bob Ross was a vindictive a-hole who stole his mentor Bill Alexander's entire act (down to “happy little trees”, a hallmark Bill Alexander phrase that Ross ripped off without attribution) and then when getting Alexander's show taken off the air wasn't enough tried to undermine his paint supply business as well. The only thing Eric and him have in common is a bit of a mellow, soothing vocal tone.

I think Fabi had some fascinating ideas here. Slow maneuvering and maximum improvement of the position before launching the attack. The bishop pair and those queenside pawns ended up being so clutch for creating threats against the white king. Just masterful stuff.

My favorite move was Bc8 after Nf4. Of course it makes sense, you want to keep the bishop pair, but being down a pawn I would have a hard time accepting being passive for now and letting white have the centralized knight and pawns. Fabi simply understands the game like only a few people ever will
