Those "people" were NEVER your friends. They are no loss. Speak the truth, do not be silenced. Look them in the eyes and ask them where they were when you were being harmed, and is it alright for him to harm THEM the same way. Because he WILL do it again. And won't THEY be surprised. Take care of you. Practice self kindness. Turn your back on THEM and walk into your better life.

Man I identify with this song as a man who was molested at a young age by my uncle. His daughter and many in his hometown think he's a hero and good guy. Even decades later I still realize ways that this hurt me. When I found out there was no statute of limitations on this crime in his state I was going to go to the police and report him. It was then I got a call from my brother telling me my uncle had just died. I sometimes feel crazy thoughts like I'd like to dig up his bones and smash them but I know that is wrong. I can never tell his daughter what her "hero" father did to me as she would never believe me. I'm grateful my parents knowing the person I am and when my personality radically changed in one day, believed me.

@@iamapickle11 Thank You. What is done to women, children, and men is dehumanization and it is unforgivable. I am glad I don't believe in violence or I'd be a monster of vengeance. Instead I cling to love and doing good things for others and myself when I can. I was married to the most wonderful human being I have ever known and she was murdered by a sexist bastard because she was a better cardiac surgeon than he was. There is so much bad in this world but there is also so much good, and I will never close my eyes to that. Again, Thank You.

Bravo Wolfbear. Each time someone like you tells your story, you make it easier for the next survivor. God bless you honey.
@wolfbear74 жыл бұрын
@@mightymissk Thank you. I know it's hard for someone to understand if it hasn't happened to you, but when this happens it destroys any sense of security and undermines every aspect of your life. What women, men, and especially children go through is even worse than losing a dearly loved person. I was 3. In one day I went from a happy friendly child to a terrified introvert. I developed PTSD and was afraid of everything and everyone. I'm not exaggerating. I lived in terror and was unable to relax or believe in myself or most other people. It took 25 years for me to realize the extent of what happened and get angry, because I knew something very intense happened, but I repressed the details. I was not led by a therapist, I forced myself to recall the details over time, by myself. That anger is a good thing. I started to understand how my uncle had affected every aspect of my life. I realized it was not my fault, not even a little bit. The only way to have any peace is to take action. Talk about it with people you love. If there is legal action you can take, DO IT. For a while I didn't realize he could be doing it to others even though he was over 60. I could not let that happen. I knew it would hurt some innocent people but that hurt is NOTHING compared to the damage he caused to the victim he made me. So many women and men are afraid to speak about it. Sometimes it's so hard figuring out what the right thing to do is. I could not live with myself knowing I could stop him from hurting someone else like he hurt me, and then not taking that action. The best way to help yourself is by helping others to take action. Victimizers need to be prevented from doing it again, and the only way there's a chance for that is for their criminal acts to be exposed. Knowing I did the right thing has helped a lot.

In the end only kindness and love matter.
