This song gets to me for the music and the message. I have 3 boys, the day after my youngest son's second birthday, my wife walked out, leaving me to raise the boys by myself. Suddenly, I had to literally "build my life around you". I don't regret it for a second, but now that they are off to college, it's a strange feeling to face life in new directions so the idea of being afraid of changing hits home. A new season in my life is beginning! Thanks to God for helping carry me this far.

This is the perfect song for this season of my life. My kids are almost grown, and as a mom my life has revolved around them for so long. Getting old and them leaving is a scary thought that I have to prepare for. Reminding myself not all change is bad. Positive note: my girls are already more prepared for their lives and futures than I was. Maybe the most significant mark we make in this life isn't who we are, but who we raise.

I remember when I was about 8 years old my mom and I sat in front of an old building in the next town over and we just talked. During that time we lived in a very bad domestic violence situation and we just went on a drive to get away. I was scared and she was emotionally lost and broken. This song came on and she got really excited and asked me to sing it with her. At first I didn't but I did afterwards. She loved Fleetwood Mac and that was her favorite song, but she really loved this version. For me, this version of this song brings back that memory of temporary peace in the bad storm we lived in. When my mom was herself and I had her by my side. Sadly, about 3 years ago at the age of 49 she took her own life and left me here missing her. I always come back to this song to sing it and just relive that memory, when I still had her as herself and it brings my heart some bitter sweet peace.

I remember playing this song when my mom passed away In March of 2017. Every time i have heard it since then i always look up into the night sky and see the moon, i think of our few times we were together, mother and son. Still makes me cry when i think of those times we held hands together, during those unspoken moments. My mom was the pillar of our family and she always was a strong woman of spirit. This past April (2021) my father passed away, 4 years and a month after mom had passed. My dad missed her dearly and in the end, he welcomed his own passing only because he would be joining her in heaven. Now they are together at last and when i listen to this song again, tears well up in my eyes. I miss them but i am happy they are reunited. Thank you Chicks. Love you all.

I always loved the spin they put on the original. Very shuttle changes but definitely added their own sound to it . The harmony on and the way they draw out the I’m in “I’m getting older too” such a beautiful but melancholy 😔 harmony

When this one came out IT WAS MY FAVORITE REMAKE. I remember talking with a teenager about this ; and the pleasant peace of that moment is what I think of when I hear it. The melody here is so full ; the life living the non- choices is felt.

Man.. my mom loved this song so much when I was younger and I didn't really understand its meaning until recently when I revisited the song when hearing it on the radio. I find it very interesting the change in taste for music between the both of us where she loved country music that spoke to her about the seasons in her life and I've come to love songs that celebrate and empower the times to come. I wish she were still around so I could have shown her all this beautiful music. Rip Susan 2019 🕊

I fell in love with this band after their performance with beyonce a the CMAS. I began looking up their music. I never listened to them before, I just remember hearing about them when I was a little girl but never heard their music. I do listen to some country music but my knowledge of the genre is not as in depth as others. Now I'm mad at myself for taking soooo long to listen to them lol but I guess as I'm older now I'm able to appreciate and understand. Their music is AMAZING!!!

My mom past away when I was just seven years old of cancer. She was 32 years old at the time of her death. This was one of her favorite songs to sing and play and I still have vivid memories of her singing to it in the car as a little girl. They are some of my favorite memories and every-time I hear this songs, it takes me there and it’s like I still have her with me. ❤
