The Chiffons had a hit song that reached #1 on the charts in 1963; "He's So Fine". You may want to check that one out.

"One Fine Day" is a song written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King. It first became a popular hit in the summer of 1963 for American girl group the Chiffons. one of Carole King's many gems that conquered the Top 10.

Gotta love that sax! One of the greatest instruments that was in almost every song "back then" that unfortunately isn't heard anymore.

The Chantels song you saw was probably "Maybe". It is a song I am sure you would like. It was covered years later by Janis Joplin. Also a good version.

Thank you for this! It came out about half a year before I was born, but I remember it, and many other girl group songs, from compilation albums my sister had! You've brought a smile to my face, and I thank you once again for that! Keep listening to the groovy tunes of our youth, and you'll know what sort of happiness we elders have known!

Beach music. This brings me right to Atlantic city. You can smell the salt in the air. I remember when they had, i swear they were old steam shovels out on the sand bar a half a mile out. Dredging, whatever they were doing.

Carole King co-wrote "One Fine Day". The song isn't technically doo-wop, which was typically associated with male singing groups, but it shares similar features. I would call it "sixties girl group" pop. Also check out The Chiffons "He's So Fine", The Shirelles "Mama Said", The Chantels "Maybe", The Crystals "Da Doo Ron Ron (When He Walked Me Home)", The Angels "My Boyfriend's Back", The Ronettes "Be My Baby", and The Shangri-Las "I Can Never Go Home Anymore", and of course, don't shirk on The Supremes "Come See About Me" and dozens more.
