So much gratitude for these audiobooks to help not only aide in sleep, but just resting my eyes while I let my mind take a break from processing the loss of my fiancé. I’m in recovery as an addict who’s been on a rotation of sleep medication or minimum smoking weed since I was around 14 years old. Having patience with even sleep right now, is a constant battle that I appreciate this tool to assist me with ❤️ thank you!

One of the BEST tools for sleep are these face masks: amzn.to/3JnPOik They are padded so no pressure on the eyes, and the mask shape + thick material blocks out all light. (other masks can leak light around the nose) There's an adjustable strap so it's comfortable and I (Mich) personally take one with me wherever I go. Immortal Vanyar, elves, dwarves delving in the earth, making great works.... mighty eagles.... magic rings..... even Children of Odin/Children of Hurin. Although this was written in 1920 by Padriac Colum and based on ancient stories of Northern Europe, I'm stunned by how similar this is to themes in Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. Clearly J.R.R. had to have been hugely influenced by these stories, and the legends they are based on! He had to have read this. The exception I think is Loki, this central figure that is both bad and good. I don't see any parallel to this character anywhere in Tolkien's stories.

The story about Loke, didn't just end with him getting his lips sewn shut. After this. He ripped them open, and now have horrible scars of where the tread once was. + Loke (Loki) aren't the doer of good and doer of evil. He's the mischievous one. He loves to prank and mess with people. But he's no more evil than you are capable of flying, by flapping your arms. I understand that a non scandinavian writer might get our history, religion, and mythology some what wrong.

I agree the narrators voice is great. I slowed it down because this channel is specifically designed to help people fall asleep. I often get complaints that the voice is too fast. So I slow it down. I have the link to the librivox page in the description so there's always an option to listen to the original. I'm sorry you don't like how it sounds now, I can imagine having been familiar with her voice it is jarring to hear it altered.

So the longer the better because some people (like me lol) have trouble falling asleep and it can take hours, so at least they have something to listen to. But also many people wake up in the middle of the night, and they've told me that it's comforting to hear the audiobook still playing.
