The Children of The Cathedral | Fallout Lore

The structure that would become The Cathedral dates back to Pre-War times. Before The Great War it most likely belonged to Vault Tec who built a vault beneath its foundations. It was a fully functioning demonstration vault, never intended to be used as a fallout shelter. But when the bombs came many people living in the area knew where it was and they managed to get inside and seal the door before the city was destroyed. 15 years later the survivors emerged and went their separate ways, while many vault dwellers stayed behind and continued to use the vault. But in 2155 vault dwellers on a supply run were captured by mutants, taken to Mariposa and dipped in FEV, and the resultant mutants were superior in every way. The Master, the leader of the mutants, discovered that the reason for their higher being was due to their limited radiation exposure and now, seeing how useful they were, He wanted more Vault Dwellers to further his Unity Project.

I always liked Tabitha's acknowledgement of them in New Vegas. "Acceptance into Utobitha open to mutants only. Former human servants of the Master conditionally accepted for purposes of centaur feeding duties." Also, the idea that a super mutant society would be free of violence, spite and stupidity is pretty funny. I really don't think the Master ever looked too closely at his test subjects, especially as he somehow missed them being sterile.

So in the Hearts of Iron 4 mod Old World Blues, the remnants of the Cathedral have had a much harder time than their Master’s Army counterparts. While the remnants of the Master’s Army has influence all throughout the West and Texas, most of the Cathedral is gone. However, there is still some scattered influence left within Cascadia. Primary within the Bone Dancers tribe, where a acolyte can take power and forge a new Unity.

It is never said, but food grown in hydroponic farms supplemented by food synthesizers may have provided enough food for a small number of people, sprinkle in some cannibalism and they could have survived

I have a possible explanation, which is that the Shoot 'Em In The Head quest revolves around you killing the people on the kill list given to you by Mr. Crowley because he wants the keys each of them have, so he can unlock all the doors in Fort Constantine bunker to gain access to the T-51b power armor bunker, and it just so happens that Alistair Tenpenny has one of these keys. So Mr. Crowley could be lying about Alistair Tenpenny so you hate Tenpenny and are okay with killing him, as he did with another character he had on his list for us to kill. By the way the reason I said another character when telling you about the character we know Mr. Crowley lied to us about so we would kill him is because I don't remember the name of the character off the top of my head.
