I grew up watching this show as a kid in early 80's Ron and Marty always creeped me the eff out. Was not surprised Ron turned out be a monster.

This show was aired during the 80s/90s, where everyone knew a kid who knew where the secret porn stash in the woods was, so the bit about looking at dirty pictures makes sense to me. The show in general seems rather cute to me, creepy puppet aside. But then, I'm a geriatric millennial who went to Presbyterian summer camp every year, so a lot of the religious kids stuff has been normalized to me. I LOL'd at the reaction to the ancient web page design. All that's missing is the page frames, site visitor counter, and webring link.

I have a theory on why a lot of older Christian kids' shows were so....awkward. You have to remember that at the end of the day, these shows are essentially CHURCH and any of us who had a relgious upbringing remember how boring it was to sit with the adults in church even for just an hour because it meant you had to sit still, be quiet and often times listen to scriptures and speeches that you didn't get as a kid. Christian kids' shows try to bring that down to a level for kids to understand and be entertained by but within that, they still have to remain within a certain circle to ensure that the adults watching it thought it was appropriate for the lessons. This is why early shows like Super Book and The Flying House were so different; they were stories about the bible but combined it with anime and then we have contenders like Veggie Tals who knew how to mix comedy with scripture VERY WELL as well as just laying out basic messages that were fun and easy for kids to understand. There's also the factor that a lot these shows didn't have big budgets; most were often small teams and operations so they had to work best with what they had and WHO they had but I think that's what makes the case of Joy Junction so interesting. They wanted to get kids involved rather than having them sit down and be lectured to so they had the game portions and the prizes that made the whole thing be more exciting but I give credit to that on everyone else who worked on the show outside of Ron. Ron was....well, he was terrible. He was a shit ventriloquist and given the local, community creative feeling this show had, I wouldn't at all be surprised if he got on the show via people he knew and of course using this as an opportunity to prey on kids. Given the reaction of his neighbors, they didn't know. It also sucks that Ron's shitty behavior more or less invalidated the work that others put in to make the show as now he's tainted it so badly that the bigger producers behind it don't want peoplee to know their names are on it.

I watched the growing up. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it. There are plenty of things that do not show up on the Internet in the Google search that used to be on. I don’t know what the hype is about the stuff.

Not giving advice, more just pointing out the stupidity of how they usually store it.
