In Brazil, meeting women clad in white in the middle of the road is a common ghost story. They're called Damas de Branco, lit. Ladies in White (not very creative, I know). She either lures lonely men to follow her home, hitchhikes with truck drivers or takes a cab and upon reaching the destination, she has disappeared and her "house" is either a cemetery or an abandoned building.

I'll say, in regards to the sleeping story, I've had sleep paralysis my whole life. I've not had visual hallucinations like most, but I have some crazy audio hallucinations, usually involving people breaking in, yelling or whispering my name, or banging on things. I always know I'm hallucinating, but regardless I have a super heightened sense of paranoia during these occasions. I'd say about twice a week this happens.
@Polydueces2 жыл бұрын
Yes! This is my experience as well. I had sleep paralysis almost daily for 20 years and have continued to have night terrors and sleep paralysis for me does not line up at all with how they describe it. It's mostly auditory because when I'm experiencing it, my eyes are paralyzed closed. Sounds and smells for me... if I had to pick one or the other, night terrors all the way. I think night terrors are far scarier but at least in mine I can move. Sleep paralysis leaves me so helpless.

I know this video's older but I NEED to say my piece regarding their definitions of sleep paralysis and night terrors. I was diagnosed with both from the age of 6 through to my mid 20s. I've experienced them thousands of times. Technically, I'm an expert in the field, though I admit that it's a unique experience for each person. Here's through extreme repetition what my experience with both are. Sleep paralysis: I wake up. Every part of my body is unconscious except for my brain. I can feel myself breathing but I cannot control its rhythm. I can feel the position that my body is in but I can't even move a finger. My eyes are closed and I'm cloaked in darkness. Even if I begin to panic in my head, by heart rate remains steady. I try to roll over by willing my body to move but I was told repeatedly by family members witnessing it and doctors diagnosing it that the feeling of movement that i get is my brain tricking itself that I am moving. As if my entire body was a phantom limb. Sometimes I try to scream to get someone's attention to wake me up and again, I don't mutter a sound. I hallucinate sounds of people around me, smells of breakfast being cooked, but I cannot do anything. 100% of the time, the only way to escape this state is to let yourself fall asleep again or be shaken awake by someone. Night Terrors: I wake up. Bugs cover my sheets, the walls. Hands reach down through the ceiling, a tall thin figure stands at the foot of my bed, so tall it hunches to avoid hitting the ceiling. Silenced by fear, I push myself into a sitting position, unable to look away from the figure, the hands reaching ever lower, the bugs beginning to crawl onto me. Still locked eyes on the figure, I scramble to find my lamp's light switch with one hand, swiping furiously at the insects with the other hand, bowing my head to avoid the hands. Click. Lights come on. All monsters are gone. My heart rate is absolutely flying. I lay down, remind myself it's just a night terror, and struggle back to sleep. I was told by doctors and therapists alike that was the difference. Night terrors you are awake and can take action--but are often frozen in fear, sleep paralysis you are awake but can do nothing. You hallucinate with both, but seeing monsters and dark figures are hallmarks of night terrors far more than sleep paralysis for me (which is probably why the sleep paralysis credit annoys me). To use VR and AR as a metaphor, sleep paralysis is most similar to VR, conjuring a nightmare state in your hallucination, rather than actually looking around your room. My sleep paralysis RARELY exhibits visual hallucinations. Night Terrors are like AR, they project hallucinations onto your real surroundings. I can put my hand on my bed of bugs and FEEL them crawling onto me. For me, light utterly vanquishes these threats, after which I'm fully conscious and can get up or lie back down. I'm mid 30s now and I still get the occasional night terror, though I haven't had sleep paralysis for nearly a decade.

A friend told me when he was getting a haircut- you know how at the barber shop they sometimes have two mirrors on the walls in front of you and behind you? It creates this echo effect like dozens of the same image repeated and slightly offset into the distance. He said he tried to count how many “echoes” there were (his words) and as he was tracing the echoes back he noticed there was a man cast in shadows standing between two of the “echoes” as if standing towards amongst the pews of a church towards the back just standing there watching him.

My dad worked midnights at the coal mine. His trip to the north hole took him thru the country. When I started working nights at the power house, he told me a few stories about people on the side of the road and told me to never stop. He said there are people there with nefarious plans. It had happened to him a few times. On one nightly trip to work, I saw something on the side of road I couldn't believe and was well past them before my brain could try and make sense of it. I didn't stop. I'll tell you the whole story if you want to hear it.

@@Martinasxo The event happened in the Fall of either 1980 or 81. I know this for a fact because I was living in Edinburg and I was in the maintenance department at Commonwealth Edison at the time. Before this I was a stationman at the power plant and after that I lived in the country on the Villa Road between Kincaid and Taylorville. Now, what date is was, I don't know. I've often wished I would have written the date down so I could revisit the location of the occurrence again on the same night at the same time to see if what I witnessed would happen again. I know it was the Fall because it was cool out, not cold, but jacket weather. It was probably between the middle of October and Thanksgiving. As I said, I was working at the ComEd plant on Rte. 104. At that time, the maintenance department only worked day shift. However, they kept what they called a "skeleton" shift working that went from 11:30pm to 8:00am. The shift only had six guys on it and they were basically there for emergencies. There were at least four guys who liked the night shift so they were there for the most part permanently. The other two positions were filled by day shift guys who filled in on a rotating basis for two weeks at a time. You usually only had to work do this once a year, or so. It was my turn to work the two weeks. To get from my home in Edinburg to the power house you travelled down a road called the Kincaid/Edinburg blacktop to Rte. 104 in Bulpitt and then go down 104 to the plant. On this particular evening, I was heading to work down the blacktop in my '77 Dodge step side pick-up. The blacktop is kind of winding and has many small up and down hills. As I was heading down one of these hills I noticed someone on the side of the road. When I got closer I noticed who it was or what is was on the side of the road. I had to be going at least 60. It was pitch dark in the country and I had my bright lights on. Suddenly, in front of me, was a woman. If you are familiar with country roads, they are paved with an oil rock mixture and pretty smooth after being driven on for a while like this road was. However, along both sides of the road, just before the ditches, there is a narrow line of loose rock. In this rock, on the road basically, stood a woman. She was staring right at me, not at my truck, at me. I could tell her eyes were staring exactly at my eyes. The woman was not dressed like anyone I knew dressed at the time. She had a kerchief tied on her head and was wearing a three-quarters length coat. If that wasn't enough, in front of the woman stood a young boy. He appeared to be about ten years old. His dress also took me aback. He also had on a fairly long cloth coat. On his head, he wore a flat, wide style hat. If you've ever seen a picture of a boy selling newspapers on the sidewalk of a city during the 1920's, you know what type of hat I'm talking about. The woman had her arms draped around the boy's chest, holding him close to her. They were both staring at me thru the glare of my headlights. I mean right at me. Their eyes didn't look like normal eyes. They were totally black, like pieces of cooking charcoal. As I sped by, they didn't move. I went by fairly close to them but they seemed oblivious to my speeding truck as I barrelled down the road. Now, you might wonder why I didn't stop. My dad worked for years on night shift at the coal mine. He told me over and over about the dangers of the country at night. It is not uncommon in our day and age for what you might call modern day highwaymen to use women and/or children to get good Samaritans to stop so they can rob a person. Dad had told me about some criminals who had used a man in a wheelchair to get people to stop out by Star Bridge east of Edinburg. So, I made the decision not to stop. It was just too weird. There was no stopped car on the side of the road and no house nearby where those people could have come from. I continued my trip to work. When I pulled in a kid who was a stationman at the power house came running up to my truck. He was a young man from Rochester who I will not give his name because I don't want to do that without his permission. He was coming into work that evening and it turns out he was following me down the blacktop. Anyway, as I opened my truck door, he was there waiting for me. He said, "Zini, what the f*ck was that!?!?" I said I didn't know but I'm going to tell Folkes. Dwight Folkers was the boss that night. I rushed into work and told him what I had seen. Folkes called the county cops. They sent two cars. One started at Edinburg, the other at Kincaid. They drove toward each other. The police found no one on the road. I'm telling you, that woman and that little boy did not seem right at all. They really looked like two people "out of time". I would have placed them anywhere from the twenties to the late thirties. All I know is they freaked me out and the kid who was following me was also freaked. So I know there was something there because I saw it and he saw it. Neither of us thought it was just normal people. To this day when I drive that road, I think about that night. If I'm going down the road in the dark, the hairs stand up on the back of my neck and that was almost forty years ago.

The two scariest things that have happened to me weren't paranormal but involved animals, my brother, and night. Once we were walking home from my grandparents after playing cards with them, it was probably 11pm or a little later. We were about half way home when we were both suddenly and instantly stopped by a sound we heard 30 - 40 feet in front of us. It was pitch black that night and we live in a rural area, no moon so we couldn't see more than two to five feet in front of us. All we heard was the sound of the paws and claws of a animal the size of a large dog or bigger running on the road. We started making noise and I went for the flashlight on my phone which took some doing because I was a bit preoccupied with making sure it wasn't coming at us. By the time I got the light on it was gone into the woods and we walked the rest of the way home looking over our shoulders and with the light on. Story number two happened when I was living in the camper outside of the house while back from my first year of college for the summer. I had my computer out there and I was playing age of empires or something. When my brother would sneak out for a cigarette he would come sit next to the window on the stump we used for splitting wood and we would talk a little or sometimes he wouldn't let me know he was there, this was one of those times. I had headphones on playing the game when all of the sudden I heard a loud knocking on the window, later he told me he had been trying to whisper to me but I couldn't hear him. What I saw when I looked out of the window was the most terrified looking face I had ever seen on anyone in my life to this day. He said in as much of a whisper as he could hold his voice down to that there was two bears, later found it had been a bear and a cub, coming towards him (outside) and me (inside) between the door of the house and the camper. So he was trapped. All I remember is seeing him trying to get on top of the camper and me throwing off the headphones and going for the single shot 20 gauge I had by my bed. It took me a full minute to get it loaded because I was shaking so much, going from 0 to 100 will do that to you. When I finally got it loaded and was about to open the door, my brother came running in and said they were gone, that the noise I made while running to get the shotgun must of scared them away.

3:04 - Speaking of dreams and demon talk. I had a super stupid coincidence a couple days ago, where I vividly remember dreaming about two cultists doing some sort of ritual and one says - Are you ready to wed the demon in a large chamber. Now this wouldn't be out of ordinary normally, cuz I write fantasy stuff so my dreams are fucking weird, what was however out of the ordinary is the timing. Right as the cultist asks if the other one is ready to wed the demon, I wake up at the sound of extremely loud screaming children. It was coming in through the window from a park nearby where I can only assume kids were killing each other with knives, because by the gods they were extremely fucking loud. Freaked me the fuck out for a bit.

from iDream Dictionary re Dream Symbols: To see a cheetah in your dream means you are being too lazy and that you need to get moving and become more active in the pursuit of your goals. To dream of a cat, denotes ill luck, if you do not succeed in killing it or driving it from your sight. If the cat attacks you, you will have enemies who will go to any extreme to blacken your reputation and to cause you loss of property. But if you succeed in banishing it, you will overcome great obstacles and rise in fortune and fame. If you meet a thin, mean and dirty-looking cat, you will have bad news from the absent. Some friend lies at death's door; but if you chase it out of sight, your friend will recover after a long and lingering sickness. To hear the scream or the mewing of a cat, some false friend is using all the words and work at his command to do you harm. To dream that a cat scratches you, an enemy will succeed in wrenching from you the profits of a deal that you have spent many days making. If a young woman dreams that she is holding a cat, or kitten, she will be influenced into some impropriety through the treachery of others. To dream of a clean white cat, denotes entanglements which, while seemingly harmless, will prove a source of sorrow and loss of wealth. When a merchant dreams of a cat, he should put his best energies to work, as his competitors are about to succeed in demolishing his standard of dealing, and he will be forced to other measures if he undersells others and still succeeds. To dream of seeing a cat and snake on friendly terms signifies the beginning of an angry struggle. It denotes that an enemy is being entertained by you with the intention of using him to find out some secret which you believe concerns yourself; uneasy of his confidences given, you will endeavor to disclaim all knowledge of his actions, as you are fearful that things divulged, concerning your private life, may become public.

Hey guys, just wanted to start by saying im a big fan of what you guys do, love the show, keep up the good work. I have one small suggestion of you are interested in hearing it. I'm sure you guys have your reasons for doing it, audience engagement, lack of time etc, but reading redditors stories kind of sucks to be blunt. Reddit is kind of known online to be a really shitty website and redditors are kind of known to be shitty people, and a good chunk of the internet actively avoids both, so just making back to back episodes where you read Reddit posts redditors probably just made up to get on the podcast is kind of a dip in content considering there are tons of really interesting conspiracy cryptids etc out there you could just read verbatim like you do with the Reddit stuff. Like I could actively go out and read Reddit posts if I wanted a bunch of content made up for karma you know? Thanks for the work you guys put in to entertain, looking forward to more conspiracy cryptid dark web dives. If you read this and you use Reddit, and it bothered you, just know that I was talking about every other redditor excluding yourself.
