It was great to see the package of gifts (especially the MICHIGAN hat) from John, Holly and family. I’m sure Sean & family will enjoy all of the coffee, maple syrup, etc. I live in west Michigan USA near Lake Michigan so it was nice to see my state represented here.

Oh yes, research! I picked up chocolate, caramel, coconut cookies that required further research today. I also found two large books at Goodwill, like new, .89 each.

That Michigan hat looks good on you! Of course, being from Michigan, I’m biased! Did you know that Michigan was once claimed by France, then England, before becoming part of the United States? That’s why we have cities named Detroit, Sault Ste. Marie, Bath, Chelsea, and Plymouth. We also have counties named Grand Traverse, Presque Isle, St. Clair, and Kent. One of our signature foods is the Cornish pasty. I think you would enjoy a visit here! There is lots to see and do, plus, almost everyone speaks English!

The plastering of the chimney wall looks good. Did you leave the big box for the cats to play in? Cats love boxes. You can even put tape on the floor in the shape of a square and they will sit in it. That was nice of your viewer to get you some gifts. Thanks for sharing! 😀

When you get to the top and the inside use a very wet mortar and a concrete piping bag to squeeze in as much as you can behind the surface stones. Well Done Sean, really good job on that chimney so far!

Great vlog Sean. Chimney is coming on a treat, a bit like pastries! Just a thought, would there be any gain from using chicken wire in the final coat of lime plaster? Just thinking it would spread the load and secure the lime plaster more. A bit like using the plastic sheeting used in K Render in UK. Just a thought. I can understand the loss of Etsy and hope things continue for you. Stay well.

Great rendering job on the chimney breast. The best part of the repair is the chimney breast has been stabilized and has been saved for future generations to appreciate and experience. I have a teapot that looks pretty close to that, which is from my Danish great-grandmother. The date stamped on the handle is 1858. I love it, plus my grandfather was the last of 21 children, so it is remarkable he got anything.

Sean! Your plastering of the chimney is making it look very nice. Will this be a permanent fix? Or is it temporary until you make a major rebuild? It would seem to me to be permanent. I have a feeling that the upstairs of the cottage will turn out very well. Nice high ceiling and lots of light.
