Vincenzo, your annual awards shows are, together with your recent nib-extravaganza, some of the best fountain pen content available. On your recommendations, I have 10 of your top 12 Chinese pens. My top 7 list is: 1) Majohn P139, 2) Asvine J16, 3) Lemon M6 with the hand-polished nib, 4) Admok M800, 5) Asvine V200 (higher ranking with the FPR ultraflex nib), 6)Hongdian A9, & 7) Lemon M5.

Nice job my pen friend. My most liked 2024 Chinese pens are 1. Majohn TI 139 (hammered finish), 2. Majohn P139 (white) and 3. Majohn P136 (black barrel finish).

Asvine tops my list of favorite Chinese pen makers, with Hongdian coming in at a close second. I recently purchased Hongdian's Peacock Blue ink, inspired by your recommendation. While I haven't yet added any of these pens to my collection, my first choice would definitely be the Asvine J16, over the V200.

You've been crushing it with your recent content! For me Asvine would be my Chinese pen maker of the year and the Majohn P139 would be my Chinese pen of the year with the Asvine V200 and J16 closely behind. My P139 with a #8 Medium is insanely wet and smooth and closely rivals the best pens in my collection.

hello Vincenzo! such a joy to watch your "ceremony" award! great, great, great! just a question: it seems hard to remove a pelikan nib from its housing. would you make a video showing us how you did it? I'm totally with you about Admok (which i discovered last year thanks to YOU!). Yes they make clones but the writing & "holding their pens" experience is very different from the pelikan m800 of which I've been owning 3 units for more than 20 years. What i like very much about Admok is their glorious schmidt nibs and the COLORS they offer. I'm buying more right now before they are gone. thanks very much again dear Vincenzo, great, great, great to watch you video!!!!

such formality in dressing up to present the "Best Performer from XXX Country of Origin" made me feel as if Vincent is a Host to "Oscars of PEN". as we're one week away from entering into 2025, i speculate and believe there could be "Best of Established Makers from West to East" which most likely would include selected contestants from Germany/Italy/Japan to pick out the best of all "Old World Makers". hopefully in a year or 2, while making pen acquisition, Vincent could also find a Chinese Robe tailor to make a "late Qing era to early 1900's transition period styling formal wear" which would keep him well in warmth and fit's well to the theme as well.

That was great, Vincenzo! I used my Majohn Q1 a lot this year. But I've learned it's not the best pen for me ergonomically for long writing sessions. The nib is great, though. I have the demo, and I love being able to just pour a 2 or 3 mL sample in it. I have never used silicone grease on the threads, and it has never leaked. It's such a cute pen, too!

Very helpful observations. I have two Majohn P136's that are very nice writers. A personal runner-up would be the Asvine P20. That's my most recent purchase, but it's probably not quite the pen of the P136's. The Majohn pens stay ready to write for days on end. The Asvine requires a shake or two, preferably not in the general direction of close friends, before it will write willingly after a few idle days.

I have enjoyed this video a lot. I would agree that MaJohn is the winner this year as far as manufacturer. In my own opinion, the P139 would be the winner of Pen of the Year. Yes he V200 is great but the #8 nib and the styling of the P139 with the white resin is for me the best pen. The Jinhao 1935 Guitar pen is certainly near the top.
@schawo211 сағат бұрын
I second you. P139 is nr.1 for me. I think Vincenzo missed the point with the orange version, making it too similar to Hemingway, but the sparkling white version stands on its own, and for me the best Chinese pen this year.

I have a rainbow titanium Asvine V200 with a Bock nib that I want to love, but it was not writable out of the box. I’m still new at fountain pens, so I am being cautious with tuning the nib. I’ve watched lots of videos and have all the proper tools but still have a bit of hesitation.

Thanks for your time and expertise. How many Chinese pens, overall, did you review this year to amass these top 12? (100? 50?) I'd also enjoy more of your experience and recommendations for nib swapping many of these pens -- not just Pelikan into Asvine but the FPR and Bocks into different varieties of chinese pens. I have so many that go uninked, I'd love to find my favorite nibs and be able to swap them into my favorite pens, and I imagine others would too.

@@ZeyyadSaleh-xd1os I believe I mentioned it during the review. I don’t appreciate as much as others do those vanishing point or capless pens. In fact, I’m not even a great fan of the original vanishing point. I just don’t like the nibs especially when there’s not much offered in that regard.

The Tramol Cream seems unforgivable. I thought I heard you say just last week that you would never buy a Sailor Pro Gear Slim and then you nominate a Sailor Pro Gear Slim knock off as a pen of the year? And it's not like the original is 100 times more expensive (like a Montblanc rip off). The real thing seems to be just twice the price as the fake.
@fountainpentherapy8 сағат бұрын
With respect, I disagree. The cream is actually bigger than pro gear regular and not the pro gear slim. So the real thing is actually substantively more expensive but of course we’re not talking about the same pen and writing experience.
