Also worth noting: At that time in Europe one's religious and political identity not separate but fused together. So if you converted to, say, even a different form of Christianity, you were betraying your own country, and convicted of treason. People often forget this fact though it's significant. It explains the sheer bravado of Luther's letter even more. This is how Luther's revolution caused the birth of the idea of "freedom of religion". Then, as today, freedom of religion came to be about the right of EUROPEANS to convert to OTHER forms of Christianity, without losing their citizenship. "Freedom of religion" was never meant to recognize non-Christians' right to exist/worship as they pleased, since the Church simply treated all non-Christians as heretics/pagans. Freedom of religion was about Christian rights, who were the only full humans (hence "human" rights = Christian rights). Does anyone recall this little detail? In 2004 when France banned the hijabs and Jewish kippahs to uphold secular values, wearing small crosses was still permissible and excluded from the ban.

This is a very important fact that must be shared openly and internalized by the Ummah. We must start promoting our own Muslim countries instead, where we can live dignified lives in accordance to Islam. And I'm pretty sure she wasn't the only major Armenian personality who had reverted to Islam and aided the Muslims.
