“The Chronicles of Hell”: Liza Tatarinova on Filming the Civilians in War

Within Documenting Ukraine, director Ielyzaveta Tatarinova is filming a documentary series, “The Chronicles of Hell,” recoding the civilian experience of the Russo-Ukrainian war. In June 2023, Ielyzaveta had already finished documentaries about the blockade of Mariupol and the occupation of Kherson and was working on an episode documenting life in Kherson after its liberation by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In this video, Ielyzaveta Tatarinova shares her experience about filming in Kherson without electricity, the differences between academics and practitioners, and what makes her most proud of her work.
