You know why the subsequent movies were increasingly less successful? It's because they were increasingly less faithful to the source material, leaving out more of the story and putting in garbage that wasn't supposed to be there. C.S. Lewis described Aslan as the answer to the question "What might Christ become like if there really were a world like Narnia, and He chose to be incarnate and die and rise again in that world as He actually has done in ours?". My advice to Netflix and Greta Gerwig is to approach their Narnia production as Jackson approached LOTR: with utmost respect for the source material and the author. CS Lewis, one of the literary geniuses of the 20th century, intentionally wrote Narnia as a Christian allegory for children and parents to enjoy and be inspired by. The stories are already rich. The characters are authentic and their arcs are meaningful. And the themes of the narrative are inherently powerful, universal, and relevant. If the series creators bring these to life vividly and artistically, they will be rewarded with critical and popular success. If, on the other hand, they chose to leverage Narnia’s existing popularity as a platform for their own political and social messaging, they will lose worse than Amazon is losing on Rings of Power. Woke Hollywood is dead. Bury it and go back to basics. Great storytelling that thrills, moves, and inspires the widest audiences.

Narnia is hard to make into a series because each book isn't always a continuation from the prior book. It's not one long epic story like Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter. Netflix needs to take a lesson from the most successful film adaptation of fantasy of all time: the "Lord of the Rings" movies. Director Peter Jackson approached the project with a deep sense of humility. Some changes from the book needed to be made to accommodate what worked in film, but the base story and themes had to be Tolkein's. If the project ever turned into Peter Jackson's storytelling, the project was doomed. Many recent Netflix adaptations have added contemporary and frankly "woke" themes into classic and even historical stories. Any hint of that in Narnia would quickly make the series a pariah among the target audience. Some changes from the books will be necessary, but any conflicts or themes which don't come from C. S. Lewis could quickly doom this project. It will only succeed if it is seen as Lewis's story.

In practice, Netflix and Greta Gerwig have no hope of doing this with any kind of fidelity to the Christian sentiments that deliberately saturated Lewis' work. By hating his Christian beliefs, they could only hope to make garbage wrapped in his work's name. They want to make money off of fantasy, not tell C.S. Lewis' story. It's a shame, because all of the acting talent and technology are available to actually make the movies great. The BBC version of the Chronicles of Narnia 1988, did 4 of the 7 books but did each movie in a Mini Series fashion and stayed true to the books. The animation is cheesy and all the special effects are dated but it is about the story that people have come to love it. The Reboot of the series started off really well but Prince Caspian was a let down , but the book and BBC version wasn't great either. The Voyage of the Dawn Trader was Terrible because it needs to be a mini series or multiple movies to really do the story justice. Lastly, the Chronicles of Narnia was written as a Children's book series as a Direct Allegory of the Bible and Christianity. You CANNOT do the books Justice if YOU water down these themes and key aspects of the story and Dialog. If you do the whole thing will fall apart like a Deck of Cards. Those Christian Allegories and Key Lines like 'But is he Safe? Safe? Of course He isn't Safe. But He is good' Also Ustice turning from a Dragon into a Boy again has so much more to it with Aslan, it was just sad in rhe Dawn Tredor. Also the Island of Dreams is completely different and so much more significant in the Book and BBC version. The added plot details and scenes were just shallow fantasy fluff.

The Narnia adaptations have always suffered because there is a perception that the Narnia series is intended for children. Indeed the books were intended for children, but not ONLY for children. To appreciate them as Lewis wrote them requires some familiarity with medieval literature and chivalric romances, and Reepicheep the Mouse is as good a sly comment on the cult of chivalry as _Don Quixote_. I love the Narnia stories and will watch any version that makes it to the screen, but I would also love to see a big-budget modern version of Lewis's so-called Space Trilogy, the 3 novels beginning with _Out of the Silent Planet_. The last of these, _ That Hideous Strength_ is one of my favorite novels, and one I reread at least once or twice a year. The ending of that book is tremendously satisfying as the world is made whole and wholesome once again. The Space Trilogy is also a commentary on the Arthurian Legends, as is made explicit by Merlin appearing as a character, and using the name Ransom for the main character brings in the Christian subtext in a way which is rather heavy-handed, but not obnoxiously so, echoing some of the original Arthurian romances with characters like Parcival. I could go on for paragraphs, but I'll stop now...

I liked how Netflix adapted a series of unfortunate events from book to screen. Where they got each book and split it into one or more episodes to cover the whole book. If I were Netflix I think this approach would work best for everyone involved. Since I know there is also talks about making Narnia into a tv show since they want to rival Game of thrones. That is a tall order since there is only 7 books in the series and I’m not sure how you can possibly expand it any further. 🤷🏻♂️ Idk, perhaps it’s better they decided 3 films and then later they can flesh out the other books in some other way

Each season could cover 1 book, that way they can get through all the stories, and they have more time than a 2 hour movie to cram everything in. It also means if they cancel, at least 1 season covers 1 book with all the details in it.

I'm a old man and I loved the movies. They were a story of the battle between good and evil. Of course to many of todays WOKE FOLK will tell that there is no good or evil, just differences.

C.S. Lewis' message and core beliefs seem to be the complete antithesis to Greta Gerwig and the message she has been conveying. It would be like trying to make an NFL Football player into a prima ballerina. Lord, have mercy. Why choose her?

I am not a Christian, but even I know these stories depend on the Christian allegory found throughout them. If Netflix messes with that then they will most likely fail.

As long as they are faithful to the source material and the effects are fantastically stellar. The cast also must be spot on. They have there work cut out for them but let's go!

I think if they stay true to the books and original content I believe it will do well. And Gretta being good at focusing on building characters will be a plus because c.s Lewis made you love the characters and brought you into the fantasy realm with them, so characters being built to love, hate , enjoy etc will be a very good thing for chronicles of Narnia!

Since the Chronicles of Narnia are Christian books they should leave it to the studio that brought The Chosen. I have my doubts about Netflix delivering good christian quality movies

No one wants a reboot of Narnia unless it is very strict to the book. Narnia is weird and fantastic itself without messing with it. Make it true to the original intent and it will be a favorite. If not, don’t waste your time and money.

Follow the Books or don't do it. And especially do not deviate from the Theology that Lewis put into the story.

The Chronicles of Narnia are Christian masterpieces. If Netflix takes out the clearly Christian themes of these books and turns them into woke trash, then these films will never be successful. Which is sad because I really want to see these books made into movies. Especially Horse and His Boy, which is one of the best books in the series.

I can see Aslan being a cross between a wookie and a unicorn. The "children" could be adults who identify as children. England could be China and Narnia could be the wonderful land of Portland. This has real potential.

Yes a reboot would be good. I have all Chronicles of Narnia movies in my collection. The first two absolutely fantastic yet the third minus the two older ‘siblings’ was hard to imagine a good story plot.

Remakes didn't need to be made. Why can't they use new original ideas for movies

The directors are already telling me it won't be true to the book, they will either race bend or gender bend.

My only hope is that ALL the books get made, not just x3 or 2...the world has so much in it! So its promising to hear they'll start at the beginning with Magician's nephew. That aside, the creatures need to look as good if even better than those movies. The Aslan was so perfect, it still rivals 'the lion king' live action movie lions created many years later. We also need to remember that the book series was already created by the BBC originally, and the Disney movies were a remake already. Im curious to see how Netflix handles it as I very much enjoyed how Damsel was made. I half wonder if the reboot should be a tv show instead of separate movies, because they could likely fit so much more of the books into each season.

Let’s not forget, Gerwig was a victim in House of the Devil ☺️. She was the friend of the one babysitting. Gerwig dropped her off, and let’s say, never made it home.

Not going to lie. My biggest fear is getting invested in the series then them ending it early. There has never been a movie or animated version adapted from all the books. I don't know if I can trust Netflix to see all 7 books.

I would like them to start with the Magician's Nephew just because it's one of the books that hasn't been done very much if at all and The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe has been done many times

Watching the trailers will let us know whether or not we want to watch a perversion of these beloved Christian classics. I did not watch the story of NOAH because I could see by the trailer that it did not remain true at all to the Bible. If Netflix cannot respect God's words, then they definitely will not respect C. S. Lewis.

I love chronicle of Narnia, between Tolkien and Lewis, Lewis 🎉 is my personal choice but I really believe that the Lord of the rings movies was better filmed than the Narnia adaptation from Disney! Hope Netflix take it seriously this project, take all the time to give us a good film. As for the crew no clue cause they would be teenagers or children's like Lucy the main roles, so my best wishes to do good job, we waiting till then!!

I wish they would move forward with "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair" I want all four movie installments the same way we could with the old original film saga, heck I wish they could even opt in for movie instalments for "The Last Battle" and the series' prequel "The Magician's Nephew" no one who never read the books know anything about those two particular stories(I do have all seven books but, I would still like to get all 4 or 6 movies out of the 7 novels), but I still don't mind in the least to still leave out "The Horse and his boy" since it takes place just before the Narnia year that the Pevensies return to the world of Men during the events of the second story/first movie.
