Really interesting, especially when we consider how this affected the way we established the American government and even how the American government is handling decisions regarding religion and religious freedom today.

@ZoneFighter1 I agree we are not obeying the constitution. If it's not a total 180° turn about it might as well be. What was once written to protect Christians is now being weaponized to use against the church. I fear for the future of our nation as more and more turn their backs to God. Your quote is interesting. Thank you for sharing it. I had not seen it before.

"Disaster" isn't the word that comes to my mind to describe the state changing from a persecutor of the Church to a supporter of it. I think that the Christians who lived under Diocletian might agree with me.

The state definitely has an interest in religion. Look what's happening to ours as the u.s. Bloks God. I wonder if asking Constantine to decide which way he believes is like asking the state to allow us to pray at government and school events?

Also, Constantine was baptized under Arianism, not into Christianity. It already started disgracefully wrong...

I don’t buy it. Henry VIII claiming to be the head of the church is significantly different. I will admit that the church and state often confuse their God given roles, but I prefer English common law, founded on Scripture, to persecution of Rome.

His story of the Church and Constantine is pure myth. The only thing that Constantine did was to stop the Christian persecution. He had no say in Church doctrine or teaching and even at the Council of Nicaea, Constantine only held a honorary position as the theology was left to the theologians.

All this is said, but the issue of whether or not church and state being so intertwined is biblical is not addressed. 😓😢
