Long overdue, sad to say I made the decision to leave 4 years ago. I had to as the leader of my household lead away from Cottonwood Church because we weren’t being fed biblical truth and I was unsure where the congregation as a whole stood on it’s political position as it’s obviously its supposed to be based upon biblical worldview. But was getting it especially during the hard shutdown during COVID. But respect and love that y’all came around.

Pastor Harrison we are honored to be apart of a Church body who has a Leader/Pastor that can deliver this type of message with the Love, truth, humility yet boldness in the midst of such a heavy spiritual battle (some are deceived thinking this is only about politics). Ezekiel 33:1-7 was straight from the Holy Spirit to the church body. For those who have ears to hear let them hear what the Lord used you as a vessel to warn the people and for those who have a problem/offense about what was spoken today... cant say they have not been warned M Love you, love our church and we will be keeping you and your family covered during this intense season of battle.

I have been a devout follower of Jesus Christ for a long time, a follower of Bayless Conley for about two decades and a minister myself for several with no plans of abandoning either. Nevertheless, while many are applauding the political speech by this young preacher on a day set aside for worship, scores of others, myself included are baffled by what they perceived to have been a rally for Donald J Trump and the Republican party. How unfortunate. The bible teaches us to *"Let all things be done decently and in order."* *(1 Corinthians 14:40)* I honestly can't call what I witnessed order. It was out of order for a number of reasons, one being there is no biblical president far it. Another is that it was done without the consideration of new immature Christians that were watching via the internet and the damage it could potentially cause. That was an act reminiscent of politicians not ministers, but on Sunday they seemed to have been one and the same. Sunday is reserved as a day of praise and worship, but we are to do so for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ not a convicted felon. The young lad shunned the democrats for supporting abortion but endorsed the republicans who passed the law in 1973. During the morning service, he encouraged us to vote for the lesser of two evils. Unfortunately, I've never read a verse where God advocates the same. He describes evil as evil. There's nothing in between. The word says we are to make our own choices. *"One person values one day over another, another values every day the same. Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind."* *(Romans 14:5)* In essence, this young preacher admonished us not to vote for a democrat whose party has three policies that undermines God but to vote for a Republican that was actually convicted of *"34"* crimes that do the same and whose expressed acts of hatred, rebellion and stubbornness violates every one of the ten commandments. We're talking from making money "his god" to "lying" about the prostitute he "coveted." God treats hatred itself as murder which violates the 6th commandment. *"Everyone who hates his brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life remaining in him."* *(1 John 3:15)* He calls stubbornness idolatry which violates the 2nd, and he says rebellion is witchcraft. *"For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry." (1 Samuel **15:23**)* This young preacher also encouraged us to obey the laws of the land but is backing a man who encouraged rioters to help him overthrow an election and not to take a vaccine that were both laws of the land. That is hypocrisy at its finest, and perhaps the reason why many republican preachers died of C19. He talked about the Great Commission, but the Great Commission is to go into all the world and preach the gospel not to praise a political candidate from the pulpit. Sure, candidates need prayer, but I think these novice preachers need it more. Blessings, my friends. †

Our obligation and duty is not to proclaim our own point of view, but is only to proclaim the Lamb of God. We do this by the spirit in how we live “our own” life. Our identity in Christ, which is the way love, peace and compassion, today and everyday. There is no peace in comparative physical and mental combat. There’s already enough chaos, pain, shame and ego centric vitriol to go around. Everybody loses in that scenario. Recently Pastor Bayless gave a sermon on the “Sin of Partiality” in which he said “in God's kingdom, the rich and the poor, the scholar and the simpleton, the heiress and the harlot, the moral and the immoral, the philosopher and the peasant, all have to come through the same door and travel the same road.” I don’t how God is working in anybody else’s life but my own, that’s their journey and I pray whoever knocks at the door of Cottonwood will be welcomed.

(I love Bayless by the way, and have been listening to him for two decades.) However, what you call brave, I call one of the churches darkest and saddest hours, my friend. This young preacher, unlike his dad, literally said that we are to choose a candidate based on the lesser of two evils. Maybe it's just me, but could you please direct me to the passage of scripture that says that or even comes close to saying it? God's word defines evil as evil. There is no gray area and nothing in between. The young preacher literally told us to not vote for the candidate whose political party has 5 policies that violates God's word but to vote for the party whose candidate was convicted of 34 felonies that all violate God's word. That means that he doesn't even believe in following his own lesser of two evils logic. You do the math. 34 - 5 = 29. This is hypocrisy at its finest. Not only that but he shuns the party that supports abortion but praises the party who passed the law in 1973, more hypocrisy. If you choose to believe this lessor of two evils logic that has no scriptural support, then bless your heart, but I'm going to believe and obey the truth of God's word: *"Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. He says “It’s not that I want to say this… I’m seeing danger and I’m worried for our nation and God’s put a word of warning in my mouth… it’s not that I want to preach this, but I’m willing to preach this because I care about your soul, and I care about my soul, and I care about the soul of this nation that God has given us”. What does the soul have to do with a message about voting for Trump? It’s clear in this direct quote that he is referring to the salvation of your soul being at risk. As Psalm 118:8,9 says "It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes." Also, don't put yourself into anyone's political box. Your vote is still your own. Many brave men fought and died so we can vote freely. Now, propositions, especially measure 3 must be voted according to God's Word, but don't be down on a fellow Christian just because he votes for the other candidate. We've got to remain one in Christ

With all due respect, my friend, what you are calling a sermon, I and many of those making the comments you referenced call giving a political speech to support your candidate instead of preaching the Good News of Jesus Christ on a day that's set aside for it. Not only that but he shuns the party that supports abortion but praises the party who passed the law in 1973, more blatant hypocrisy. If you and others are truly concerned about our children's future, then stop giving them cell phones and remove the remote control from their hands. I can promise you that it will be 100 times more beneficial to their future than this political speech ever will. If you choose to believe this lessor of two evils logic that has no scriptural support, then bless your heart, but I'm going to believe and obey the truth of God's word, my friend: *"Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. so you're okay with Trump not banning abortion, but allowing each state to decide if it's okay or not?
@Mr..G3 ай бұрын
I'm glad you like truth, and don't mind pain, so here goes, my friend: I have been a devout follower of Jesus Christ for a long time, a follower of Bayless Conley for about two decades and a minister myself for several with no plans of abandoning either. Nevertheless, while many are applauding the political speech by this young preacher on a day set aside for worship, scores of others, myself included are baffled by what they perceived to have been a rally for Donald J Trump and the Republican party. How unfortunate. For the record, I won't be voting for either candidate. †

There are too many policies and variables to be chopped down to a 45 minute sermon. While many positions were clear and biblical, some were of personal biased and not rooted in the word of God. Had it been kept solely on God's word, I believe it would have been right, but putting personal bias in a sermkn is where it went out the field. Praying that the Holy Spirit guides our leaders to see more than just their biases. There are good and bad policies on both sides. Which would God allow? People have to dive into the word and let God guide them.

You can vote against gay marriage on your ballot, separate from the presidential vote. So you can honor God's word by simply checking 'no' to that measure. Harris is definitely against abortion but Trump hasnt denounced it either. He's willing to let each state decide if it's okay or not, so Trump doesn't get points for that. His indecisiveness is trying to cater to both sides. There is a long list of God's expectations that Trump has gone against compared to Harris, but Harrison still tried to convince us that he is the better choice 😂 And trying to compare Trump to King David because of infidelity is hilarious 😂

Jesus was asked a political question about paying taxes and Jesus said, "Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s." He didn't dodge the question, but answered in the affirmative that we should pay taxes. Jesus also addressed the temple tax in Matthew 17 when he asked Peter "What do you think, Simon?” he asked. “From whom do the kings of the earth collect duty and taxes-from their own children or from others?” Jesus lived in a time when Israel was under the control of an emporer and people had no vote or say in government, but he still said things in relation to the governmental institutions and practices of his time. He publicly disrespected John McCain when he was alive and said he prefers his heroes not to be captured. Also the fact that he is a felon, found guilty of rape. He also encouraged a riot Jan. 6th that resulted in at least two deaths. He’s done this before, and I disliked it before stating that he’s on a tower and not leaning a certain way yet the entire speech leaned towards one candidate. you’re putting your political views into a religious message to sway others which is not OK. I’m disappointed, and this is why I make it a point not to attend services when he preaches.
@mariasalazar92683 ай бұрын
That has been my decision! 😌 Like I said before, he, in my opinion, does seem to have the call to be a pastor. He is one because he inherited the power of the pulpit, and being a pastor MUST be from a call of the Almighty, it cannot be inherated! 😌

I just ask the question with all due respect 😊, does the other candidate/party that he doesn’t talk about promote Biblical principles? If they do promote Christ like values, can you please tell me what they are?. (I haven’t watched this entire sermon but I assume I know what you’re referring to. ) I know for me, I’m voting for what God would want me to vote for and not FOR WHO God wants me to vote for.

The thing you seem to be struggling with is that the gospel does affect which political positions you should vote for. You can't tell Jesus to be Lord of everything except politics. Jesus loves you enough to give you a pastor who tells you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear.

With all due respect, what you are calling in season, I and many others with spiritual eyes and ears call a premeditated political speech on a day set aside to worship the true and living God. (I love Bayless by the way, and have been listening to him for two decades.) However, what you call brave, I call Cottonwood's most saddest and darkest hour, my friend. This young preacher, unlike his dad, literally said that we are to choose a candidate based on the lesser of two evils. Maybe it's just me, so could you please direct me to the passage of scripture that says that or even comes close to saying it? God's word defines evil as evil. There is no gray area and nothing in between. The young preacher literally told us to not vote for the candidate whose political party has 5 policies that violates God's word but to vote for the party whose candidate was convicted of 34 felonies that all violate God's word. That means that he doesn't even believe in following his own lesser of two evils logic. You do the math. 34 - 5 = 29. This is hypocrisy at its finest. Not only that but he shuns the party that supports abortion but praises the party who passed the law in 1973, more blatant hypocrisy. If you choose to believe this lessor of two evils logic that has no scriptural support, then bless your heart, but I'm going to believe and obey the truth of God's word: *"Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch."* *(Matthew 15:14)* †

I am disappointed that Pastor Harrison used the pulpit to hold what amounted to a Republican rally and an endorsement of Trump under the guise of being a watchman. While Pastor Harrison did not directly say to vote for Trump it was implied since that is the Republican candidate. Pastor Harrison could have plainly said it is important to vote, recommend members do their research on the candidates and to pray over their decisions. Firstly, Pastor Harrison should not extol the virtues of Trump from the pulpit. Consider Psalm 1:1, Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who mediates on his law day and night. Trump is a man full of hubris that does not honor the Lord but has tried to gain financially from the Word and to make light of the deity of God. Trump has openly admitted that he leaves God out of decisions. He placed his name and added content to the Bible when scripture speaks against such action (Deuteronomy 4:2, Revelation 22:18-19). Additionally, Trump sanctioned the Capital riot in 2020, refusing to obey the law and circumvent the United States Constitution. These behaviors are contrary to biblical instructions for our behavior. Secondly, I believe Pastor Harrison’s sermon has caused a division in the church. Scripture (Proverbs 14:12) tells us that there is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. It is my opinion that the repercussions from the sermon include the destruction of unity and peace within the church, lost opportunities to model the love of Christ, and disillusionment of babes in Christ. I am cancelling my church membership as I cannot in good conscience continue to sit under a shepherd that has participated in this type of activity. I will continue to pray for the body of Christ and those who have leadership positions.

I guess I shouldn’t be shocked to see a predominantly white evangelical church in Orange County embracing a candidate who hates the same groups that they hate. Being a racist isn’t a deal breaker because they’ll never be marginalized for the color of their skin. Even though their ancestors migrated here from another country to seek a better life for themselves they don’t want that for the current families seeking the same. To align yourself with either of these parties as a church is ignorant. But to intentionally align yourself with a person who epitomizes the Antichrist is spiritually wicked.
