Sorry for the long wait between videos, I really struggled editing this audio because I had old audio recorded all the way back from December 2020 that sounded terrible which I had to re-record. In fact, this idea has been stewing in my mind since I started this channel, but I wanted to wait until more people discovered my channel to begin working on this very specific video idea I had. So I'm glad it's finally complete with proper audio and everything! (Even though it was an entire mess to make sense of because the ridiculous amount of footage I had recorded lol)

Note: This video contains major manga spoilers!!! (up to ch.88) I began scripting for this ‘Chuuya Effect’ idea back in Dec 2020, so a lot of this info is probably dated and irrelevant as of now lol. Since I’ve only read up to Chapter 88 of the BSD manga, my argument can fall apart after ch. 88 because I don’t know what happens after ch. 88 of the manga. So if you DO know what happens after ch. 88 and my argument doesn’t stand anymore you can let me know in the comments just DO NOT spoil what happens for me. I agree with you , i think we could have see that coming since Chuuya's ability was too much powerful.If Dazai's ability were meant to be the abscence of ability , that guy is the oposite.The problem there is that by make them polar oposite they increase the hype , the bond between those two character.That fact can lead Chuuya to be only Dazai's partner which would be problematic or underdevelloped also problematic. His power is indeed enough to support the lor with the experimentation because it's iconic and shown to be dangerous even for the user himself , but there is just so much potential , scenario possible just by being a mafia executif.I could literaly create an entire fanfic about that perspective with way too much symbolism and message about human right and self acceptance .It's a lot and maybe too much even for the author himself.I think there is so much scenario that the story struggle with her own scenario and univers.Chuuya's power make him also less easy to use because you have to always use someone else to do so and he is an antagonist so it difficult because he isn't a protagonist . Another aspect difficult to add at his devellopement is his relationship with Dazai and the Shin Skk.I think I would have love to see him interact with Atsushi because he appeared to be the " emotional" part. It would be interesting to see him learn Atsushi some lesson or how to fight in a different way.But he's once again an antagonist , and it would be hard for them to create a scenario where they can learn from each other. Dazai's character is complex and it's hard to know if they can be each other's weakness in a emotional level too .Which i would have love to see not only as a shipper but to see how other character could react.We know Fyodor would use it against him , but how the ADA would react .I think the author didn't expect fan to be that interested in there relationship.There is a lot of critics toward skk shipper for portraying Chuuya as helpless without Dazai.I didn't see that in that way , even as a shipper.I even saw the oposite but I guess it's hard to create a situation where you can't be smarter than Dazai.Due to lack of explanation , a lot of their relationship is blur and hard to develloped.In my head they like people who used to be importante to each other for a long time and still is but none of them would admitted if they even did before.That aspect is hard to devellope because for that devellopement to be acceptable you have to make them admitted or separated them for good.

Well first off good video. Second of all, I disagree about Dead Apple being a cash grab and the fight with the dragon is actually a lot more important than you think. Dead Apple, 15 and Storm bringer actually show Chuuya more in depth and we learn from him more through those. Remember in the beginning of DA when Fyodor was there, he was watching closely, and that was why he created the dragon. It was to test Chuuya's strength so that he could use him later on (and that's what he did when Chuuya arrived in chapter 98). There's an official art where Fyodor is standing with the puppets of our heroes and Chuuya's puppet is upside down. While right now we believe that he has wasted potential, I personally believe that it's a build up for what to expect later on. What Fyodor's plans for Chuuya are and how it will affect things for our characters later on. That's why I will wait until the end to determine whether he has wasted potential or not, but I think Chuuya's importance will increase later on, especially where Fyodor is concerned.

I completely agree that chuuya's potential had been wasted in relation to his role in shin soukoku (as in, he has none). it really doesn't make sense from a writing standpoint why he's not being included at all, especially since so much could come out of it. his relationship with Dazai could be expanded, his mentorship with Akutagawa could be explored, and we could see more present development for him as he is now (not at 15).

I think it’s because his loyalty is to mori, and mentoring shin soukoku doesn’t matter much to him. There’s no reason for him to want to help atsushi or akutagawa bc they’re dazai’s students already.

it's always disappointed me how chuuya is portrayed (and viewed by some fans) as slightly stupid. i'm not saying i think he'd be nearly as good at deductions like ranpo or schemes like dazai, but i'd say chuuya is quite intelligent. he's short-tempered, especially when it comes to his ex-partner, but there's no way he would have been the "king of the sheep" and later become a port mafia executive if he wasn't capable of being level-headed and thinking things through when the situation calls for it. just because he's not at dazai or fyodor's level of intelligence does not mean he's stupid, and despite him being the most physically powerful character in the series, i still see people underestimating him as a person.

i also thought this because of the strong teamwork that they have. i don't think dazai would have discussed his plans beforehand, and as amazing as he is, I don't think his schemes are always perfect. for chuuya to be able to go with the plan without Verbal Communication and Discussion, and just knowing by body language, he must have a good head on his shoulders. it's not easy to pick up cues when it's above your abilities. i kinda see it like yin and yang? dazai is capable of hand to hand combat, but he isn't as good as chuuya. at the same time, i think chuuya is pretty smart, but he isn't a genius like dazai.

Chuuya is canonically stated to be a Genius as well, which is very well shown in Strombringer (bro is basically running the whole Gem Department himself AS A 15-16 YEAR OLD)

To be fair, Asagiri always meant for Chuuya to be the fan favorite extra. From the way Dazai's story is weaved into the main story its clear that Asagiri wanted to explore his backstory separately from the main manga and by his own admission Chuuya's design and personality took him the longest because he had to design it to both appeal to the people as well as not get overwhelmed by Dazai's sheer power as a character. The main manga never actually goes into tangents and leaves most of the extra stuff for the light novels and tie in mangas. Chuuya actually has a LOT of content in the light novels and his backstory is very well handled, the anime on the other hand adapts the light novels at its bare bones and leaves out much of the character development because its hard to deliver it through the medium and just in general exec meddling. So yea, if you're anime only or manga only you are very likely to feel disappointed but the light novels are actually a gold mine of Chuuya content. But in the end yes, Chuuya is a story breaking character so he must disappear randomly. That being said, I actually don't think shin soukoku need both skk, at least plot wise. Zskk had one mentor, skk had only one mentor and now sskk have only one mentor and I think there is something to be said about the cycle of behaviour in this series. Chuuya does have a sweet bond with both Elise, Aku and Kenji and even Q based on extra material so yea he'd be a good mentor but that would put two extremely charismatic and show stealing characters at the center and would take further attention away from Aku and Atsushi. It's a good marketing strategy though, to create hype and then leave it for extra material. And Dead Apple was a movie because it was too short for a series of episodes but too long for one episode but it does present several important details about the characters that are later expanded upon so I don't find it to be that much of a shallow cash grab. Except the amount of Chuuya in marketing, that's definitely a shallow cash grab. Anyhoo, this was a wonderful video, it was a pleasure to watch.

One of the reasons dazai hated chuuya even after he died. Kinda surprising actually how chuuya died first even if dazai was the one trying to die.

I honestly think that the author did know that Chuuya was going to be popular, he just can’t fit him into to many places. Chuuya is meant to be the strongest ability user around (as a fold to Dazai) so it makes for a pretty boring story if he takes out every enemy without letting the other characters deal with the problem. Or worse have Chuuya be involved a lot when the port mafia gets into fights with the ADA, 9 time out of 10 he would body the whole team. So the author has to get creative with how often Chuuya shows up and how involved he can be. I honestly really liked how Ranpo tricked Chuuya into the book. It showed a different way of handling enemies, displayed creativity of the ADA, and was pretty funny. And while I would have liked to see more of him in the Dead Apple movie I understand that the movie would have to focus on Atsushi to develop his character and history some more (since we actually hadn’t seen much about Atsushi’s earlier life prior to that). So having Chuuya take down the gigantic dragon (which no one else could have done) so that the kids could handle the weakened bad guy made sense. Either way I can’t wait to see more about Chuuya, especially more from when he was younger or some of Dazai and Chuuya’s first team ups after Chuuya joined the port mafia (I just want annoyed partner interactions guys). In regards to other characters that unintentionally stole then show in other anime, I would suggest Levy from Fairytail. She was just thrown in to be a victim for barely an episode but became so popular she wound up one of the main characters and is part of the most popular couple of the series. It surprised everyone, especially the writer.

i honestly don’t think he’s dead, because it would be a terrible writing decision. for such an explosive character to just... die without any build up or tragedy about it. we do get dazai’s little monologue but it’s not enough. it’s just very anticlimactic. also dazai’s behaviour in the most recent chapter. he’s very laid back. we also haven’t seen nikolai reappear yet so there’s still a thread that needs to be tied up with him.

Man, I completely agree. I love Chuuya, but I wish he was allowed in the main story more. The light novels do delve more into his past, but his present is barely touched on and his relationships outside of his relationship with Dazai is basically non-existent in the manga. There are so many gaps to fill, but sometimes I feel that Asagiri is set with making Chuuya a deus ex machina-esque character where he appears, beats people up, then disappears for a few more years. He's kinda like a mythical beast even in his own story - you get some sightings, some mentions, but is he actually there (if that makes any sense)?

I think the problem with bsd is that it has a massive plot made up of so many different other plot lines and so many different characters in which each have their own story that contributes to the plot that for one writer would be difficult to fully develop certain characters to their full potential especially all in one go. And reading another person’s comment that fits with my opinion, Chuuyas story has little to no relevance to the actual base plot of bsd in terms of Atsushi and the ADA and so this would be the reason as to why when we see him it’s more in light of another character. Say if Asagiri had developed each character as we all wished the story would continuously head off track and be too long and have too much going on. This is also considering the fact the there actually already is a lot going on in the manga rn 😭. Hence as to why the light novels were written, to expand on other existing characters like dazai who currently has now 3 light novels and Chuuya in fact actually has 2 one in which happens to be the biggest one atm. He also has relevance to Beast and the new additional 15 manga. From what I’ve heard also Asagiri wishes to continue in developing Chuuyas story in time. From my understanding considering even dazais storyline isn’t much included in the manga but in the light novels, the light novels are expected to be read by the fans wanting to know more abt the characters. Bc in a moment like you mentioned where he disappeared in the book, I feel if there were to be a plot line of what happened in the book it would’ve been too much. The whole reason he was sent into the book was infact to get rid of him, bc he was in their (the ada’s) way at the time. Or atleast that was my perception of that whole situation, I do agree tho slightly, it would’ve been nice atleast have what happened be talked abt a little rather just left alone. I think also from how I see it, it’s clear to me that Chuuyas main purpose in the story is to help develop dazais character, but whilst also being his own character entirely. And I think that’s actually really clever, Chuuya is sort of like secondary character to dazais secondary character. There is one major take away from his character that is what Asagiri probably wants to bring out most abt him. He is an extremely loyal character, probably the most clearly loyal character in the series and his loyalty is proven every single time he’s ever appeared within the plot. Like his loyalty to dazai, to the mafia, to the sheep and to pretty much anyone he works with. That’s what I find most intriguing abt his character in my personal opinion. I realised this sort of sounds like an argument against you which I didn’t mean it to I just wanted to make my own point abt some things you already mentioned

Honestly Chuuya is one of my favorites because he’s just like the characters I was writing at the start of my teenage years (10-14 years old). I made them having a backstory with a drama similar to the backstory of Chuuya. And really I just love it ! It’s as if the author made these old abandonned characters come to life in the public eye !

i kinda feel bad considering chuuya might have lesser scenes in season 04, but then as you said they could like make the other half of the "fifteen" arc and also i think like he in the show represents loyalty as he never betrays the mafia (besides that one scene when he lets dazai go basically the basement scene) and also had a hard time when he had to leave 'the sheep'. anyways, i love how you have a complete video dedicated to this short fedora man ! hope you have a great day/night, and looking forward to your new videos !

yeah in season 4 I'm definitely going to miss seeing Chuuya. And I'm not certain they'll actually animate the rest of the 'fifteen' arc so I don't wanna get my hopes too high in case they don't animate it lol. Cause then I'll be really disappointed. And yes! Chuuya is deiniftely loyal through and through, it'd probably be the one word I'd use to describe him other then 'powerful'. On Chuuya's role in soukoku: Chuuya isn't supposed to be the brains. i'm not saying he's stupid (which he clearly is not), but there's literally a panel in chapter 88 (the soukoku feature panel) that describes Dazai as the brains and Chuuya as the brawn. Additionally, the mentor role that Dazai holds over both Atsushi and Akutagawa - its relevance to the plot is that he's training the next skk generation, but its relevance to character development is more to do with how Atsushi and Akutagawa interact with each other due to past and present treatment by Dazai. I do agree that his part in skk is overlooked when it comes to the next generation, but it's not to an extent that has a great effect on his character. His involvement in skk is demonstrated in the light novels and not the main manga because, as you said, Chuuya is Dazai's FORMER PARTNER. Dazai left the Port Mafia, and Chuuya as moved on from that part of his life, but their old partnership is rejoined slightly in the manga events. Skk isn't meant to be at its peak in the events of the manga. Also, the argument that Chuuya doesn't have enough content doesn't hold up to scrutiny when you look at the Chuuya-centric light novels (15, Storm Bringer) and his current position in the manga (which this video actually predicts pretty accurately). Chuuya's character is mainly built up around his relationship with Dazai, as Dazai has been a significant part of his life for most of their acquaintance. Oh, and at 18:20 , Chuuya's ability isn't taken away in Poe's book, that was just for the Poe vs. Ranpo book specifically.

Thats what happens when you write a character to big for a story, an example is Ai (Oshi No Ko anime spoilers ahead) Ai was such a big character that the author didnt know what do with her, so she just died. Bungou Stray Dogs has a lot of these big characters, Dazai, Ranpo and Fyodor literally knowing everything that is happening and will happen and Chuuya, being a character with an overpowered hability are some of them. Because of this, these characters just take a back seat in the main storyline, cause, what are you going to do with characters that can literally solve everything🤷‍♀️

A really interesting video 🙏🏻 But well from a Chuuya Stan's side the Chuuya and Ranpo scene might have looked like wasted potential, but it was necessary for the plot. From my view it was just showing enough of his character. He is really strong but he still was outsmarted because Ranpo knew his weak spot and had a plan. Of course normally Ranpo wouldn't have stood a chance against him but I don't think Asagiri -san would just get rid of a character like that. The situation shows what the Ada and friends made alongside are capable of.And Asagiri-san always seems to plan everything to perfection (kinda like Dazai). From the very beginning of the show up till now everything seems to build up to whatever is going to happen next in the Manga. And Dazai seems to be the one pushing everyone into the right spot. Like you said he's playing chess (seemingly with Fyodor) So because of that the show is about the pieces being placed and it suggests that Atsushi plays a huge role in all that. In the novels as much as in the Manga he always seems to be a key with Akutagawa being a key for Atsushi's character development (also the other way around). I too really like Chuuya but as the whole story is so complex and the characters are all really interesting in their own way I would not call him my favourite . And as he had his character development already before the time of the show, he will only be shown in his key moments, because the whole thing (especially the novels) are almost impossible to get into the Anime without it being really stretched and boring. Btw.. you forgot to mention that he has a hot voice too while listing why he is loved 😂

I recently read Stormbringer and I loved the way Chuuya's character was written. I haven''t read the manga nor other novels yet but from what I've seen other people comment I'd guess they've done a good job with the novel before Stormbringer(Aka the Chuuya and Dazai 15 one). I'm quite disappointed too since I love this show and the characters(especially Chuuya ofc) and it makes me sad that he gets so little content. It actually reminds me of Mha where Bakugou ended up the fan favorite rather then Izuku and the only information we have on Bakugou's past(at least as far as I've watched it) was connected with Deku. After a long time of scraping for content of Bakugou and realising he'll never fulfill the role that I(and most fans) wanted I ended up abandoning the show. I havent caught up to it at all but from what I've seen here and there Baku gets some sort of character development but it's not that major. I really hope the same thing doesn't happen with Bsd too since I love it a lot

Something like this happened in the classic fantasy anime, "Inuyasha" with the titular character's older brother, Lord Sesshomaru. To be fair, Sesshy did get more screen time and development than Chuuya does. Hiwever, he was very much a side character. Every appearance by him was a gift. That show had amazing theme music for each character. I remember how excited I would feel when Sesshomaru's ominously moody theme began to play.

Hey! It's cool to see some video conversations about bsd 👏 Now, about the topic of the video, I think a big problem in BSD is that it bites more than it can chew. Asagiri built a huge world (/and/ alternate universes on top of that) and I think they simply cannot develop everything to its full potential. In some ways its a good problem to have because if we feel this, it's because the character and story /has/ potential and in terms of tranformative works, it's free real state for really interesting filling of the gaps. But as a fan I can really get that frustration of being dangled development that doesn't pay off. I think BSD should have way fewer characters, and I say this as a big fan of almost everyone (I think the ones I truly don't care about are the lemon bomb guy and Ace lol). But with such a huge list of characters, unless your favorite is Dazai, you'll end up craving more development for your favorite. Heck, I'm not an Atsushi stan but narratively he /should/ have a stronger hold of the narrative and yet he is truly on tbe sidelines at some points. But how can you balance so many characters and such a complex plot? That's why shonens end up with 100+ episodes, so they can develop the world and the characters ad nauseum. Asagiri and MAPPA are more restrained with it and while it makes a more dynamic pace, it just causes this issues. It's a very fine line to walk in term of writing and production. Oh well, at least the light novels exists, even if I'm too lazy to read them 😂 but at least there's certainly proper chara development there. Well Bungou Stray Dogs Storm Bringer and 55 are great for a Movie and as for Untold Origins of ADA I hope they include the starting portion of novel where they discuss Exam for Atsushi and my favorite part Dazai, Restaurant and a lady, it was very comedic I hope they adapt it if they do but I believe they would skip to the main part of the story.

Watching this made me realize something (I haven't finished Stormbringer but I kinda heard about the important things in general) or have I made research about the author in real life + read his poems What most of us know is, is that Chuuya doesn't really have someone that really cares about him or see him as a first option. The people he likes, trust and loves use him as a tool and always prefer someone else as a first and not only in the Bungou stray dogs canon universe but as a character in the manga, anime, novel what ever we want to call it He is way too strong for his own good for the plot why he has to disappear and he climbed way to far as expected (of popularity) He is only put in the actual storyline when there is no chance but his strength isn't seen as his own but someone elses and at the end it was not Chuuya who made it but the more important ones. - To the point when we talk about bsd being kinda fanfic like, isn't is actually a fanfiction? Saying, writing a story about real people and taking things about them to put a story about it, doesn't that make it a fanfiction? - I actually don't know if the Author would do that, but I can imagine that he would even kill Chuuya off at one point because of him being unexpectedly being way too up for his own good. Of course the question is how it would impact the actual plot, but honestly, I don't remember one scene where Chuuya as a character would really matter, he would easily be replaced by someone else just like in the story. I personally think that his only importance was or is in Dazai's Backstory and if it wasn't Dazai he wouldn't be in the story in the first place Sorry, I was just putting my own thoughts in Edit : I was thinking a little bit and I personally need to say that Jellal Fernandez from Fairy Tail is also kind of a little bit affected by the "Chuuya Effect" saying that he was actually only intended to have only scenes as an antagonist but is still there just being there in the sake of Erza Chuuya is only in the story because his relationship with Dazai is important Jellal is only in the Fairy Tail story (he is a strong character but gets almost no fights etc) because the Author wanted Erza to have a lover But he is still one of the fan favourites despise being almost to completely wasted and being there of the sake of Erza

Atsushi and Akutagawa are both combat based, just like Chuuya. What they lack is organization, something Dazai can offer. Akutagawa is already good combat wise. Atsushi not so, but I cannot imagine an occasion where Chuuya could help with that. Dazai on the other hand can teach Akutagawa and Atsushi to keep a cool head and think strategically. (Atsushi shows that a lot in recent manga and anime with seeing Dazai guiding him in hard situations that he cannot punch his way through) As a mentor figure, Dazai just makes more sense. Besides, creating shinsokoku was his plan to combat Fyodor. It didn't have anything to do with chuuya in the first place. It's not even officially named "shin sokoku" that's just made up by the Fandom. (Unless I missed some kind of major event) It is a "modern" sokoku to the viewers only. To the characters themselves, they are just two people who's abilities work well together

It's true the name 'shin soukoku' wasn't created by the series itself! but considering the fact in the manga (without giving away spoilers) at one point atsushi asks himself internally what soukoku would've done, including chuuya within his own imagined image, i understand that atsushi knows they're trying to emulate the previous duo soukoku. why else is he thinking of how soukoku would solve things??? unless he potentially looks up to them BOTH as mentors??? Also, Dazai literally says at the end of season 2 that he forced akutagawa and atsushi together to solve the moby dick situation b/c he wanted to test to see if they worked well together and would be strong enough for their upcoming enemy fyodor. He says they need a team up strong enough to fight that demon (meaning fyodor). Dazai says, "Something more powerful than the former Double Black. That's those two." It is a blatant comparison! and analyzing the words exactly 'former' by definition means: "having previously filled a particular role or been a particular thing." In this case, Double Black is a former role that atsushi and akutagawa are filling in since dazai and chuuya are no longer on the same side. I always saw Dazai throwing together shin soukoku to be his own agenda yes, but i'm saying it truly misses out on the chance for him to incorporate chuuya. since the inspiration for double black is both chuuya and dazai, which he's trying to recreate in an optimized form that exceeds their previous abilities. I suppose it might be true one could think atsushi doesn't need combat experience/teachings from chuuya, or that you can't possibly imagine it happening in canon (tho i could easily come up with a fake scenario where that'd make sense, since dazai enjoys orchestrating plots, he could probably lure chuuya and atsushi into one room pretty easily lmao) - but personally i think atsushi being given tips would've been a great way for chuuya to be given development more NATURALLY within the storyline. i mean, chuuya himself says dazai's combat abilities are pretty low in comparison to a martial arts expert like chuuya. So i think learning from him would be a pro for atsushi's improvements lol. i haven't 100% caught up with the manga tho, so take this with a grain of salt. I still think shin soukoku is a blatant replacement for soukoku (in my personal opinion based on dazai's words in season 2). he's trying create a new lightning in a bottle so to speak, which sparks a great team up! ⚡

this is no hate to the video but i do want to point out that the anime kinda fucks up as an adaptation in several ways. should the anime have directly adapted the manga without going on tangents to adapt the light novels or retconning one into the main story it would have been better. the manga has a specific storyline and doesn't go on tangents to explain unnecessary details or backstories. for example the dark era arc: in the anime it just delays the guild arcs start and adds unnecessary padding (this is not to say i don't love the dark era adaptation i just think if it were adapted as a movie seperate from the main story it could be better) whereas in the manga after the arc with the pm (akutagawa and kyouka) vs the ada it goes straight into the guild arc it doesn't waste time to explain something that isn't actually relevant to the plot. i feel like a similar thing happens with season 3 and the fifteen arc if it was adapted separately from the main storyline there would have been time to fully explain what was going on with randou and they may have even been able to include an adaptation of stormbringer which would have tied up the loose ends to that more effectively. one last main thing the anime did that really annoyed me was they took the light novel detailing dazais entrance exam and retconned it into the episode about the azure messenger. this was a bad move for 2 reasons 1 they had to retroactively write atsushi into the story without changing the plot which made him pretty useless that episode and 2 it removed several core elements of the light novel like kunikidas suspicion of dazai. the only purpose that episode served was to delay kyouka and chuuya's introduction. the reason the bsd anime can feel weirdly paced at some points is because the writers decided to add things they didn't need to, to fill up room. the light novels are separate stories for a reason and adding them into the main story i feel takes away a lot

Meaning he's DEAD. Pls I was on the floor crying. It's probably the sane this as what happened to akutagawa where he was eaten by bram after he died. (That's the only way for him to become a zombie) what I'm saying is chuuya was prolly killed by fukichi (but I really don't know just making guesses) then turned into a zombie and sent to fyoder in prison. SPOILERS in my reply too!! don't read this if you want to avoid spoilers. yeah i've recently caught up w/ the manga but i don't believe a character's dead until the manga claims them dead cause i've thought other characters would for sure be dead in the past but have somehow turned out alive?!?! (i'm talking about you kunikida lol) Also in the manga they keep saying they need to destroy the sword/pull out the sword (i forget which one) or get rid of the sword to stop the vampire control ability so is it implied that if they aren't controlled they'd be like regular ass vampires with their own intellect and choice like the vampire impaled by the sword?? Cause the vampire impaled by the sword has clear intelligence, talks normally (even tho he's old as fuck so he doesn't get technology lol), and he also chooses not to bite the little girl which means he has control over who he wants to bite/drink from. Also if they get the sword-and-vampire combo to dazai somehow could he stop the ability and thus turn everyone back into humans because the ability is turned off?? i assumed chuuya was just bitten like higuchi was to be turned into a vampire, like i assumed he was approached by a comrade and got bitten and turned so if the ability is turned off does that mean he's human again?? IDK how the ability works! And since chuuya is technically partly arahabaki (it possessed his human body right) does that mean the vampirism might have less of an effect on him or MORE of an effect on him? Like would there be less room to be turned because he's already something else?? is chuuya just faking being a vampire for now to get closer to what's going on and plans on revealing he isn't completely affected soon? lol there's just too many questions unanswered right now for me to believe chuuya is dead. and i'm still heartbroken over akutagawa damn. i hope somehow chuuya worms his way outta this, the guy is resilient. Also, i'm just salty that this is a cheap way to get rid of the port mafia all in one go, (in terms of the story's writing) like the ADA didn't even have to deal with the port mafia as a true enemy force, like another enemy just obliterated them completey. so it feels like a cheap way to make room for future villains/group of villains, cause that's pretty much the bsd formula by now (introducing a new group of villains i mean). thanks for commenting, i love chatting w/ people about bsd and i haven't talked about the manga much with anyone so this was a fun comment to reply to.

Your "the author" rubs me the wrong way, because, well... just call him Asagiri? Or do you mean the director of the anime? Or the writers of the anime? Is that meant to be a collective term? Because if it isn't and you just mean Asagiri, I feel like you're just directing the faults of all other people besides him (who made the anime) at Asagiri only. Which is incorrect. Since... have you read the afterword of Storm bringer? Have you read the light novels? Also. Mmm.... If all of you are disappointed with Chuuya's development or his screen time, it's not the story's fault, that's the fault of the fandom that ignores who are main, secondary and tertiary characters. Chuuya from the beginning was almost a tertiary character, he is part of the Port Mafi a, a secondary group. BSD follows Atsushi, therefore, those who have more prominence are the members of the Armed Detective Agency, especially Dazai, Atsushi's mentor. If Chuuya has had any approach with the ADA or Atsushi, it is because of his past with Dazai or because Mori directly ordered him. Other than that, Chuuya has nothing to do in the main story (and no matter what he lived in the light novels, those are things of the past and the manga takes place in the present)
