To me, this song has many meanings. It sounds like the male singer tried to host an intervention for his friend to get her to stop her from smoking, and this can be read as the conversation between them. It can also be read as a conversation between two sides of an addict's brain, one side saying it isn't that bad and trying to justify everything they're doing while the other side knows it's wrong. Either way, this song is hauntingly beautiful to me. The melodies fit together well and make it terrifying as a cautionary tale about addiction

I’m 13 rn and I stopped vaping almost a year ago,in my school there’s a lot of people including my friends who vape a lot,most started fainting/getting sick which I’m glad hasn’t happened to me. If you smoke vape/cigarettes I advise you stop,I had to learn this by myself the hard way. You can listen to my words and save yourself the trauma. Really I think the song has multiple meanings which is why I relate to some of the meanings it may carry. Here's some of the meanings I think it has : 1. The literal meaning regarding cigarettes 2. Talking about addictions in general 3. ( the way i personally see it due to personal issues in my life ) The lyrics could reflect to how self harm and eating disorders feel for some including myself, for example, u say ,, il skip my meals today and only today to lose a pound or two" which already is not okay but u end up in a loop of forcing urself not to eat till the point where it becomes basic behavior and u can't stop doing this to yourself, same goes for sh, you say ,,il only cut once" or,,il only punch myself once" which already is unhealthy, but without realizing u end up doing it over and over again, till ur covered in bruises from so much punching yourself or covered in scars from all the cuts. This applies to other mental illnesses and traumatic events as well, u wanna let them go, you say that it's the last time ur gonna let urself feel this way, but u end up being stuck in a loop of whatever mental illness you have, because it's too hard to let go, it's too hard to learn to live without the pain u have been living with for so long because in that pain some of us find a small feeling of comfort, maybe cuz we wanna go back to the time we didn't realize what we were going thru was traumatic, or simply because our brain is a weird place that sometimes can't explain why it revisits and holds on to those painful memories more than it does to the happy ones, or maybe cuz it gives us a feeling of control we have been searching for but never found that feeling so we went to keeping ourselves in the loop to feel like we are in control of something and that not everything is hopeless, sadly this is not the feeling u usually end up with, u just feel even more out of control, but before u can realize it u already don't know how to get urself out of the loop u forced urself to stay in
