Man, I have so much respect for Citroen. I love that quintessential, iconic French brand. I love how they just don't give a S about anything and keep doing their thing. They just don't care about what others might think of them. They follow their own path. They are super, ultra, hyper quirky. The quirkiest car maker. And it works !!! Look at the last C5X ! It's a masterpiece of a car. I am genuinely in love with the Oli. Insane weird stuff, but so cool. I would buy it. Hope they sell it in the Netherlands.

Love Citroën's new approach. Mechanical beauty and Avant-garde. The C1 and C2 modles have been left neglected for too long. They shouldn't need to feel like they're patronising the legendary Citroens by reintroducing the 2CV (like what the early C3 should've); but that's only in the mindset of market competition with other neo-retro cars like BMW's mini, Fiat 500. The family of 2CVs would be above all that if Citroën focuses on purpose the way they did with the Oli and Ami

I love it but I'd need a bit more of an in depth review before thinking of buying. I'd of hoped it would be a bit cheaper if the parts are 3D printed and interchangeable (meaning lesser machining costs). Will it come in left hand drive? Does it have AC? Can the boot area be locked? How long do the new materials last in a rainy climate? How long do the battery packs last and what's their replacement cost? Will they have a solar option on the roof and bonnet?

Very bold, innovative and environmentally sustainable so should be applauded, yet I can’t quite get my head around the windscreen and side windows. When driving in torrential rain, a usual windscreen shape coupled with the drive forward pushes the water up and to the side, but a flat windscreen does neither albeit I understand there are 3 windscreen wipers. Further, the side windows coming up and out rather than conventionally disappearing down into the door? Surely they will be likely to rip back / off at speeds north of 50mph? With a slightly bigger battery and a better window design, this could the game changer it attempts to be.
@CompletecarIe Жыл бұрын
The windsceeen is upright to reduce the amount of glass (and weight) needed for it. The wipers and wind hitting it shouldn’t prove much of an issue. The reason the side windows are designed that way is a nod to the original 2CV, which used such a method.

Cars need to become lighter and more affordable. Having 600-kilometre driving ranges is unsustainable when the battery alone weighs more than 500kg and costs 40% of the entire car.
@davidcolin6519 Жыл бұрын
Citroen have stated that it could be made for "around €23k” or 20k in pounds sterling. That would make it easily the cheapest EV with a reasonable range (ie over 200 miles). With the €8k subsidy I'd get from Spain's govt., it'd be around €15K. That is a very attractive proposition.

All these innovations are very interesting, but aerodynamics is essential to achieve better autonomy and less environmental impact. That nose so high and completely vertical, as well as that windshield, at 80 km/h they generate enormous drag that has to be compensated by spending more energy from the battery. Citroen was precisely a pioneer of aerodynamics when no other manufacturer cared about that aspect. From the mythical Citroen DS to the modest 2 CV till this "Oli" all Citroens had good aerodynamics
@davidcolin6519 Жыл бұрын
Sorry, but you are actually wrong on many fronts. By far the greatest influence on drag is not what hits the air, it's the wake left behind, I did some original research on this in the 70s, and nothing has really changed in the meantime. As was stated in the video, the aero at the front works to kick the wind over the flat, vertical screen. Also knowing something about the costs and weight of the glass, that screen probably saves quite a few kg, I'd guess about 10-15 kg. The Old is limited to 110kph to improve range as well as reduce the importance of high speed drag.
@CompletecarIe Жыл бұрын
Aerodynamics don’t really come into it in a car that has a lower top speed. And most drag comes from the rear, not the front.
@davidcolin6519 Жыл бұрын
@@CompletecarIe Absolutely. I once did a physics project on the aerodynamics of different shapes and the difference between a blunt front and a blunt rear was like night and day. A blunt front had virtually no difference to the drag, it just meant that the "spill" (the drag created to the sides was lower. Drag caused at the rear had so much more effect. And people love to brag about their cars' top speeds, but how often do they really get anywhere near that? On a motorbike, sure, but in a car? The only places most speeding in cars is done on motorways, and even then most of the time you're looking at maybe 20kph over the limit, so that is still 90mph or so, and that really doesn't significantly affect journey times because you're still constantly having to slow for other vehicles. I used to drive a Citroen Jumpy (called the Dispatch in the UK), and I'd definitely "make progress" in it at times. Only on very, very few occasions would cars with double the power keep up. And even when I kept my maximum speed to 100kph on "normal" roads, I'd still be going a lot faster than the vast majority

This doesn't have wireless charging. While the technology does exist, it doesn't charge as quickly as plugging in and it does require more precise parking for it to work. Few car makers are looking to this method of charging due to these reasons.
