I'd love to see some sort of shipyard at some point. Either a traditional naval shipyard, or a futuristic spacecraft shipyard.
@molybdane72402 жыл бұрын
Then it should be a megashipyard with a 2 km long drydock or 2.
@coenogo2 жыл бұрын
@@molybdane7240 Given the fact that the city has a space elevator, I think it's safe to assume that the economy and industry of the city would be oriented toward space development. You would expect to see the support equipment necessary for modern spacecraft somewhere. Think of things like LH2, LCH4 and LOX refineries and storage. Perhaps there could even be a derelict/abandoned traditional spaceport with launchpads and integration facilities that have fallen into disrepair or have been repurposed by the lower strata?
@ultmateragnarok83762 жыл бұрын
It would be also a neat idea to see an actual traditional shipyard for oceangoing ships that has since been repurposed. Like, say there's four or five dry docks for cargo vessels or cruise ships or similarly sized craft, but the advent of alternatives has caused some of them to go unused and eventually unclaimed. Perhaps one is broken, or perhaps they've been left flooded and turned into a smaller marina or even a seminatural swimming and diving pool with a solid border. I think a lot of people actually would quite like to be able to swim in a dry-dock-turned-public-space like that, and watch the remaining ones work and build up ships over time.
@DonFervo2 жыл бұрын
@@coenogo thought the same first but I assume that not every somewhat bigger city in the future has its own elevator, therefore cities would export their space goods to this elevator and a port would make sense.
@coenogo2 жыл бұрын
@@DonFervo Absolutely agree. Seeing how space elevators are (currently) only feasible off-shore on the equator, the number of elevators that could be built would naturally be quite low. A cargo port would also help to supply materials for spaceship construction, and a huge amount of materials would have been required for the initial construction of the space elevator itself.

Awesome Idea to attach the cables to the mountains. I love it when aesthetics and practicality go hand in hand. And since it's not too steep, maybe there can be a path going along the top as a tourist attraction connecting the mountain tops, as well.

Possibly cable cars and an observation tower too. The view would be spectacular.

Looks fantastic! Regarding the lights: you could ma put some plain white lights on the tips of the hanging support, or even some flashing red aircraft warning lights would look good! Just so much that the bridge is not "invisible" during the night...
@ultmateragnarok83762 жыл бұрын
I'm surprised at how big the base points of that cable ended up being. I noticed you scale them up, sure, but I just didn't process that they'd rival the size of the gargantuan pillar building at the shoreline. I must say, I adore the brutalist designs you make for some of these structures, such as that pillar one, and similar things like that - the ones that look like they could truly hold so much more before even cracking. Like those massive pillars helping the tracks and road keep back the cliffside. Excellent video, as always! As for lights on the bridge - I could certainly see some big spotlights shining up at it from beneath, even if they're simply uncolored. Keeps the thing visible for tourism and travel at night. The big pillars would also likely have some small guidance lights, being high-up artificial objects even if they're so short themselves. I wonder if one might see use as a base for a radio tower or similar? With the space elevator nearby communication on some scale can be mounted to the tether for it, but that would even then only reach so far.

Somehow Brutalist architecture is somewhat futuristic
@ultmateragnarok83762 жыл бұрын
It's a combination of sleek with smoothed corners, even if the surface isn't really all that sleek or smooth up close, and also that light grey color concrete is known for. Light colors on massive, relatively smooth structures - particularly with other aspects integrated directly into them for maximum density and efficient use of space - tends to evoke a futuristic feeling.

One thing to note, I'm not gonna apply Logic to a Utopian city, but bridges that utilise this multi layer sometimes suffers from imbalance due to over use of 1 side. A New York bridge suffered damage due to a side supporting 1 subway being used much more than the other subway. It if irl and not prepared properly happen with the tram and pedestrian level.

I would love to see you build a city that is completely free of roads, freeways and cars. Under the circumstances of a visionary, futuristic city. Use as little concrete as possible and find ways of transports via trains, boats that run with the river flow, etc. i always think of roads to be 'dead spaces', solely for the purpose of moving deadly metal boxes with people inside. Really would love to see an in-game solution of getting rid of all cars!

I realy like your new brige. It add more charakter to your city. Your map is a bit mountainous, I thing a park like the Olypic Park in Munich would fit in your city very well, because it is surprisingly a bit hilly. I visited other places too, and I noticed there are some higher places in the city who are realy beautyful and you have a realy nice view over a specific area like Chinese garde in Stuttgart , Wolkenhain auf dem Kienberg in Berlin, Herkules in Kassel, Parc de Belleville in Paris and many more. It would be realy great if you could add a nice hilly park in your city.

I love that you continue the concrete brutalist style of the overly complicated station from two episodes ago. Tho tbh I do miss the urban design. The "filler" part of the city along the coastline does look kinda bland. But I guess that's their point.

hey Akruas, I've noticed a little quirk about your English that i'm not sure whether you're aware of. in English we obviously use present progressive a lot: things like "i'm watching a video," "she's eating breakfast," "you're walking too fast," etc. However, most of the sensory/feeling verbs usually stay in simple present: like "that looks good," "i feel sick," "he likes it," "it sounds fine," etc. So, when you say things like "it's looking very nice" (14:30), although no one will have any trouble understanding you, it does sound quite non-native/unnatural. Obviously that doesn't have to be a bad thing! I just figured you might be interested to learn about it, if you haven't already. languages are truly fascinating to me, and i love observing details like this in the ways people speak, that's all :)

Cars are not evil, cars are freedom. Cars do not choke the roads because you make the roads larger. They choke large roads because all other roads are made small. Pedestrianism and biking are not virtuous, cramming people into public transport is not virtuous. Justice for cars!
