I was born in June 1977. My dad said he’d come home and my mom would be rocking me (as a baby) and listening to this song… I never heard it before. She passed away in 2021 and now I have this sweet connection to her whenever I listen to this song ❤

In 1978 as a popr student I was at a used record store near Harvard Square going through some bins of albums. While flipping through some albums, this cut came on. I stopped, listened for a few minutes, grabbed my albums and went to the counter. I told the sales person that I would take the albums that I had placed on the counter and the one that they were playing. Thus was my introduction to Claus Ogerman and the fusion of jazz and classical music. And my musical tastes expanded from there. I liked both (especiallyjazz), but never considered combining them.... until then

Years ago, when I was lucky enough to purchase my first high-end sound system, this was the first album I tried out. The sound of this orchestra gave me goosebumps like I have never had before. Claus Ogorman has been a favorite of mine ever since. His arrangements are always lush and seductive. I can see why so many singers sought him out.

Hello Henry, you asked for suggestions and here's mine: Bill Evans with Symphony Orchestra. Claus arranges and orchestrates - WOW! I was 18 and on the road with a band and played it everyday. Amazing work by Ogerman. That lead me to follow him and my best friend Michael Brecker wound up doing an amazing album with him as well. I recommend that work as well. My best.

One of my favorite albums of all time - I remember when my dad introduced me to it, shortly after it was released. I was immediately a staunch and lifelong fan of Claus Ogerman, not least because he highlighted several of my favorite musicians, including George Benson and David Sanborn. ;-) This is one of those rare albums that captured and transfixed me from the first note to the last. Amazing stuff.

@@Shazbut0191 Like Klaus Ogerman, he has done some fabulous arrangements of other people's work. Try his arrangement of "Woodstock" from Joni Mitchell's Travelogues. The fact he arranged many of her favourite songs for her on this album speaks volumes. Listen for her line about "bombers.... turning into butterflies up above our nation" for instance. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kHbEg6iribCpr68 His own compositions are also great. Try "Esperança" from the great album Epiphany with Peter Erskine, Michael Brecker and John Abercrombie among others. Love this early piece "Say We Did" with Scofield, Lovano, Erskine et al. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHPEh4GVZc-rqNk Hope that helps :-)
