I know that you are making videos about the 1970-1972 period but I also would love to see some games of the 1962 Stockholm interzonal were Fischer destroyed the field.

Beautiful game. I love the clear play of Fischer. It was surprising that he moved his knight so often only to exchange it in b5. But with each exchange the position of Black got worse. I'm looking forward to your next Fischer video.

Thank you Mr. King! R.J.F. games are pure art again and again - exept when he was obviously overpushig or disturbed for some reason - he plays the moves that makes the oponent more and more helpless - not just using a winning advantage, trading down and win an endgame like great Capablanca or these days Magnus is doing. Looking forward very much for more nice Fischer games!

Thanks Daniel. Two drawn games by Fischer: Fischer vs Botvinnik, Fischer vs Tal when Tal just became World Champion. After the game, Fischer told total that you played very good!( Tal had just became the World Champion) and Tal sarcastically responded: But if I lost the game, You would tell me that I played like a genius?!!!The game between Tal and Fischer was very complicated. I can’t remember which year on top of my head

I love this Bobby Fischer game, thank you. I would have been playing f4 for sure, but this shows a great strategic side to the game, and food for thought for my own games. Watching your videos is like having a Grandmaster lesson.

Beautifully played and well analyzed. Thank you. My favorite game of Fischer's from this period is Bobby Fischer v Ulf Anderson 1970. He plays a hedgehog formation as White! Moves such as 20.Nh4 (a Knight on the rim is grim, but not here). Quite edifying.

Beautiful game! Actually, Jacob Aagaard used it as the very first example in his book "Excelling at positional chess" in attempt to demonstrate, what "positional" exactly is.

Thanks, GM King! I knew this game and always considered it one of Fischer's most impressive one, even though it's not one of his most famous ones. For a long long time I couldn't understand what was happening in that game: how could he have won by starting with queenside play when the obvious f2-f4 was there to be played? His not playing the obvious f2-f4, going instead for the queenside where it seems to me, as an English player (the opening,. No, I'm not a compatriot😁), that he had very little to play on. Finally returning his attention to the queenside, once that wing was weakened and the bishop left for d6. Last time I analysed this game was maybe 10 years ago. This time I have noticed a plan which I myself have played 3 or 4 years ago in an English opening, which I had misplayed up to that point with my opponent gaining the bishop pair: a2-a4 followed not by Nc4 but by Nb3! While Fischer's idea was possibly to entice ...b7-b6?!, in my game ...b7-b6 was almost forced because black had a bishop on a6 arriving there via the route c8-xg4-e2-a6 so that Nb3-c5 would have been too strong. So...b7-b6 and I played my point a4-a5 like Fischer allowing me to open the a-file when I wanted proving enough compensation for the bishop pair and equalizing the game. I hadn't thought at all about this Fischer game while I was playing nore afterwards when I analysed it. I just thought I had found this great plan all by myself at the board. It's only thanks to watching your video that I have noticed the similarity. Now I'm wondering if this was Fischer's idea, store in my subconscious mind, which helped me find the right plan!?? Thanks for the analysis, really nice and to the point, as you always do.👌👍

My favourites from Fischer's Candidates are the Taimanov quarterfinal Game 4 (endgame strategy with bishop outmanoeuvring knight), Larsen semifinal Game 1 (Larsen goes on the central / kingside attack but Fischer manages the complications to emerge with R+Bishop pair vs Queen), Petrosian semifinal Game 2 (end of a 19- or 20-game winning streak), and vs Smyslov in the Interzonal (masterful display of the initiative to tie the 7th world champion down)

I don‘t know whether it fits into this periode exactly (Buenos Aires 1970), but Quinteros -! Fischer was a very sharp and interesting game which showed Fischer at his most provocative and, as in his games in the Poisoned Pawn, as a true opening researcher, way ahead of his time- playing against the English Opening in a way that is still, as many of his inventions, being recommended. Which shows how good an analyst he was in the precomputer era, working all alone.

The Fischer-Petrosian 4 queens game was a draw but WHAT a draw. Perhaps you can review that game. In the final position neither side can do anything active without losing. Amazing.

I would love to see you analyze the 8th game of his 1971 match with Petrosian. Although Petrosian´s play may not have been too great (in the eyes of a GM, anyway), for me the nonchalant ease with which Fischer realized his advantage in the second half of that game remains most impressive - and very beautiful. As for the Interzonal in Palma, I would enjoy an in-depth-look at his game against Taimanov. The ending is very beautiful, but the first half of the game seemed not to suit Fischer´s style too well. Would be interesting to hear your thoughts on that one. I also like his game against Addison.

The 8th game from the Petrosian match is an interesting suggestion as it isn't discussed too much. The game against Taimanov from the Interzonal is on the menu! Actually I think it is very typical of Fischer.

I really would have liked to see some comment on the reasons for 12. a4. It doesn't attack anything, doesn't it even create a possible weakness on the queen side? What kind of strategic thinking makes someone come up with a move like that?

Why not 35 .. Be7 by black I wonder? Seems to lead to black bishop exchange, no?
@PowerPlayChess
@PowerPlayChess 5 жыл бұрын
After 35...Be7 White replies 36 Qg5 Bxf6 37 Qxf6 when Black has virtually no moves. For example 37...Kg8 38 Bc4 Kf8 39 Qh8+ Ke7 40 Bxf7 and the position collapses.
