I know a lot of people have issues with the NT, with some of their views (me included) but fair play, they do a fantastic job rescuing places like this, which would not have survived till today. When you hear how so many people today complain about anything and everything, just look at the conditions they lived in and they would have been the lucky ones too. Very knowledgeable guide and most of them are volunteers as well, good on him! You picked a great day for a visit and loved the thatched roof and the gardens, cheers Alan
@WanderingwithWatto2 ай бұрын
Totally agree Alan. Some of their more woke views grind my gears for sure. But like you say its places like this that are preserved for generations to learn about and appreciate that is a good thing. You are right about the conditions and I am sure there would have been a lot worse. Thanks for watching. All the best.

Wonderful tour of the house. It's so nice to see a place saved to be restored for future generations to explore. The grounds are beautiful. 😊

Wow, the Trust did an amazing job on restoration and preservation for sure. Great that they took the pains of leaving many aspects just as they would have been. A gorgeous day to wander around the gardens too! Awesome!!

Yes indeed Bruce they sure did. It is great seeing these places kept alive to learn from. Thanks so much for watching. I hope you and Otis are well.

Oh Paul and Kim, that was gorgeous. Where would places like this be without the National Trust - and more importantly, how would we learn and take a peak into times gone by without the dedication and investment from Trusts like this? Just awesome. to wander around those rooms and grounds. I've enjoyed this from start to finish - thank you both for sharing this lovely visit. 👌🇳🇱🙋♀🥝

Beautiful day out, and a really fascinating house, the National Trust volunteers are incredibly knowledgeable and that makes a visit to much more interesting. I'm a great National Trust supporter, as a bit of a contrast, I've been to the first building the Tasmanian National Trust saved (an Australian state, each state has it's own independent National Trust) Franklin House was built (by an ex-convict, it's Australia after all!) in 1838 and was the first property acquired by the newly formed National Trust in Tasmania in 1960. Doesn't quite have the age of the UK properties!

For some reason, my comment didn't comment haha. I really enjoyed watching this Watto and Kim, so so interesting seeing around the first NT property, incredible to see inside the kitchen with it's buttery and pantry, those wooden beams are so beautiful. So amazing to see inside the various rooms and the grounds and the volunteers were lovely and so informative! Loved seeing the wattle and daub, such an interesting building method! The grounds of the gardens are very beautiful and well kept. Thank you both for a wonderful tour! Wonderful!!!
