The story "The Closed Shop" is set in a vibrant American capital where the president falls for a woman from Michigan. The president changes the country's outdated divorce laws to please her, but a revolution occurs.... won't reveal more here with all its twists and turns.

I think this is absolutely hilarious! It's one of the funniest stories I've ever heard. And I am left wondering whether Somerset Maugham influenced Graham Greene, because there's something of Greene's attitude to such matters about it.

There was a tv adaptation done in 1970. It was set in a South American country.
