Old School Chicago vs Old School NYC , miss those East Coast guys that could kill in the mic. For years it's just been suburbanized promos of Canadians and Midwest guys but finally we get two legit dudes that could actually throw down in a real fight and not be some mma wanabe. This took me back to those days in HS when a Latin King guy from New York got into it with the hometown Bully from Detroit, Chicago .. and the principals and cops had to step in to seperate them then everybody in class is talking about it . But phuc* Kingston could have went in on Punk more if he wanted to. Punk was holding back but Kingston kept poking at him and you saw Punk reveal a little bit more.. then when PUNK raised his chest to Kingston... ah shi**. The crowd starts surrounding these two.

This promo was excellent and I think it is what wrestling needs more of nowadays, storylines and characters who feel real and nuanced. You are 100% right. Also, they want pro-wrestling to be cool again. To do so you have to remove the easy "Good vs Evil" storylines that are more for kids and have more deep characters that can like or doesn't some people for reasons instead of just being heel for the sake of it.

This segment was a testimony to Eddie Kingston’s greatness on the mic. Eddie did what seemed almost impossible in AEW… he made an AEW crowd boo a babyface Punk, if only for a minute. The only person who could have made Punk get boo’d before this segment was Punk himself turning heel.

@Karon Nuva you do understand that anticipation doesn't necessarily refer to how much time people have been waiting to see the match, no? Anticipation is subjective. A feud can run for months and people can be burnt out thru waiting, but when a feud is like this one, you cannot wait to see how it will play out, even if you just have to wait a few more days. This is pretty much a Captain America Civile War scenario to me: these two are both good guys, likeable but with conflicting personalities, ideas and arguments. People can side with one or the other, but this doesn't necesseraly mean one of them has to turn. They can beat each other up and whoever wins they can still stare at each other from one side of the ring to the other with respect, without even shaking hands, and go their own way after It.

@@Rocket1377 but it is not something that can be done with everybody though. It works with these two guys because 1) they're so freaking good on the mic 2) they're both beloved to the point people don't want to fully turn on them 3) these two are very complex, very human characters that are pretty much a heightened version of the people portraying them. Cody Rhodes went on record saying he didn't believe in the Face and Heel dynamic anymore and that fans should decide who's the Face and who's Heel for each given match. Alot of AEW critics took that as the company wanting to get rid of the Face vs Heel dynamic. Its clearly not the case because you have MJF, the best Heel in the game, the Elite, Max Castor. Both Punk and Kingston are natural Heels and depending on who you listen to Punk hasn't helped business outside of his Debut so the Honeymoon phase is over and he probably is finally ready to go back to being a heel and being a heel on his own terms. You could probably say the same thing about Kingston, he's probably ready to be a heel again too. I think the thing that has kills Kevin Owens in WWE most is them switching him from heel to face soon many times in the past 5 years all the while Generico has been a constant heel for a while now

This is why AEW storytelling is superior to WWE storytelling. Eddie Kingston in this feud and in his character is basically Toguro from Yu Yu Hakusho. He’s a complex case. He's like an anthill - the deeper you dig the more tunnels appear, and inside each is a creature ready to bite. Layer upon layer of bravado, facades, contradicting desires, and intensely wrought obsessions. But beneath it all, you would find just a normal man with a wounded heart and a broken dream.

The promo part was great but the weak punches looked odd. And no, bringing the referees and security to defuse a brawl is not overdone, It's the realistic option to give order in the ring in a situation like that. The problem is that AEW does too many brawls and afterbirths, sometimes in the same show... that's overdone.

When did wwe last do a pull apart?? They said it’s “over done” and it’s better when done every once in a while yet wwe hasn’t done one in AGES, unless I’ve missed one recently
