This was the best thing I've seen in wrestling in about 7 or 8 years. A real wrestling promo. Between 2 guys who feel real. Not some heatless phoney fight like the Elite and Jurrasic Express with Jungle Boy and his no facials no fire doing moves in what's supposed to be a fight. I hate that. In a chaotic fight, I don't wanna see a guy doing arm drags or submissions. It's a fight. Go kick the other guys ass. Punk and Kingston nailed it, they looked legit and it was glorious.
@johnnymittle3 жыл бұрын
If every fight is chaotic, none are. This works best because of the contrast but it would be exhausting if every angle on a PPV was like this. And it wouldn't ring true. Jungle Boy doesn't have 15 years of history to bring up. He's had no deep failure. You can't dissect him in a promo like Punk did Kingston. Jungle Boy using Punk's wild eyed expression for a simple, you threw me off a stage angle, would be too over the top.

Very well done & something AEW can be proud of now let's have a great match that hopefully becomes a feud. Both guys are great. Agree with Jim to add some bell & Punk telling Tony, JR or Dasha to go that would have added some more realism to the angle yes, this also needed to be on Dynamite but understandably given Eddie's situation with Covid testing they got relegated to Friday, anyway moving along. Hard disagree with Brian. This is EXACTLY what should be on Rampage. That's how you change a show from the "B-show" to an "A-show". People didn't watch it? They missed the best thing in wrestling this week if not month or year. It was fantastic and the sort of thing EVERYONE wants to talk about. If you don't watch Rampage because you think it's the "B-show" and then your friends are going: "HOLY SHIT DID YOU SEE THAT PROMO BETWEEN PUNK AND KINGSTON?!?!?!" You feel like you missed out and you don't want that to happen again. So you start watching the show where anything can happen. Edit: Ha! I stopped the video back when Brian said it and now just got to where Cornette says literally the same thing I was trying to say. Also, I agree with Conry on too much chaos on the show makes it all blend together. This has been a major problem Dynamite has had for a few weeks at least now. It feels like every single match or promo gets interrupted or there is a beatdown after it. When every segment is fucky, it stops being exciting/interesting and becomes parody.

I agree. It’s the same with the Ruby Soho and Britt Baker feud to compare the two. Good promos that hype up the fight on the main program that will either give eyes to this B show, or get people talking about that to the point if you miss it you’ll look up how good the promo was

Eddie's mannerisms added so much to this segment. Just the way he acted you could tell he was fuming and that there was a subliminal coopetition going between the two for could keep their composure the longest, because they both knew they were good at pissing people off. But the twist was that Kingston is known for being too passionate so everyone thought "CM Punk is gonna make him crack", and even Punk looked like he thought that because of how cocky he was the whole time until he snapped first, they going the other way around with it was brilliant.
@manuelaparcedo4173 жыл бұрын
my favourite part of the whole thing was when Punk put his hand on Kingston's chest and Kingston immediately looks down and says "no" and then Punk takes the hand away. Like Kingston just let him know "If you do that I'll have to punch you in the face"

The only issue I have with Kingston, is the fact that they had him as a heel but then turn babyface when they made him say (I believe what he said was true) that when the explosions went off (about the Omega/Mox match), it gave him PTSD flashbacks and made him pass out, but now it's all "I'm mad at you for what you told me fifteen years ago" etc.
@theconnected72343 жыл бұрын
Kingston is crazy so his heel/face status reflects that. Same for moxley
@bettyblue14653 жыл бұрын
You have to understand that he's mad at Punk for those stuff all those years ago because he believes that that's why he's not a top star like Punk. He blames Punk for his failures because Punk buried him backstage
@petervanna66023 жыл бұрын
He doesn’t control what role his character plays, and he turned face because Mox was a face. No matter how much they fight, Mox is still eddies friend... I shouldn’t have to explain that to you
@GenGamesUniverse3 жыл бұрын
@@petervanna6602 thing is, is that IF this was in the 80s or 90s, Kingston would more than likely have been reprimanded for saving a babyface moxley and punished. Look, I know keyfabe has been dead since the Curtain Call incident, but at least if you're a heel, you shouldnt suddenly switch babyface
@JackgarPrime3 жыл бұрын
He's very much a solid tweener. He says things that make sense for who he is in the moment, and if that lands him in the face or heel role, then that's for the crowd to decide. I think it works really well for a guy like him. It's not going to work for everyone, but it does for Eddie.

The solution is to have Eddie almost win, go to cheat, stop himself with a conflicted look and then Punk capitalizes on it and beats him. Teases a heel turn Protects Eddie Gives them a reason for a rematch down the line Punk gets a little doubt about himself and the people can see he COULD lose.
