Our 14 day walk across England following Wainwright's Route. We were very lucky having good weather for the whole journey

So far I have done this twice, the first time just before I joined the Army in 1976 at the age of 21, 10 days camping every night with a 30kg backpack. The next crossing was 9 years later at the age of 30, this time from East to West and again a 30kb backpack and a 40kg Still Camera backpack and tripod. Now age 67 planning to do it again next year (2024). LOVED every step of the way apart from the section over Nine Standards too boggy and too windy, a very relaxing two week hike. Tony in Essex

Wow that's one hell of a weight for a backpack, you must have been super fit. Brilliant at 67,, to do it again as it's always good to have a mission in life

Amazing to see the Coast to Coast in good weather - I did it last May and it wasn't like that.

Yes this LDF is one of my favourites with the coast on both sides and the wonderful Richmond town half way across. Highly recommend

@@stephenjackson8534 Thanks Stephen very kind of you. I tried to book most of the campsites before we went but even that changes at times because of miles etc

2.20 - that'll be Whitehaven not Cleator Moor and I live right on the top of the hill. I laughed as you complained about Loft Beck out of Ennerdale, knowing Lining Fell would be the next day. 2nd laugh - Patterdale, about and mile and a half to go - oh no it isn't. Looking forward to the rest of the journey - every frame sparks memories of Sept 22.

Thanks glad you enjoyed it. I think my estimations on mileage need a bit fine tuning 🤣

Hilarious, we are in the North of England near Newcastle and appx 50 miles from Scotland. Around here it's known as a Geordie accent Thanks for watching and hopefully come over sometime Atb Graeme and Ian

Great Video, i am looking to do this walk in 2025 after doing my first LDW Cumbria Way. but your meals did not look great and not enough calories ..I think I will stick with Adventure foods high calorie foods

They were called Tent Meals and were actually 800 cals but we didn't rough it as we had bar meals when we came across Pubs, thanks for the compliment

Is it well sign posted?
@gw6797 Жыл бұрын
Across the Lake District very little and very sporadic in other parts. In 2025 it is going to be classed as a National Trail so there should be lots more signage then. Lots of people we met were using an app on their mobile which they followed and I think it was called Map Me but always take a paper map too

As has been said, through the lakes the signing is not good BUT the paths are so well walked that with a bit of basic understanding as to where you need to go you should be OK. I think the most missed turn turn comes between Patterdale and Haweswater were people continue along High St and miss the path to Kidsty - other than that you should be able to find your way. If you fancy the walk but worry about the route or carrying your gear, there are guided walks (I went with HF Holidays) where you stay in hotels overnight and they transport your luggage so you only carry one days stuff any day.
