Really relatable. Drink is definitely the catalyst. I’m coming to the conclusion that alcohol is worse for me than I thought. It’s tough realising that and I haven’t had a drink for a week now. I’d put myself in the I can take it or leave it bracket. I just need to work on the leave it bit now. Keep it up mate
@Novice2Nature2 жыл бұрын
@J 808 it’s good to recognise it. I remember I used to get a little half to keep pace with older mates who could put the beer away. Was like that for a long time. But eventually it became 1 then 2 then 3. If I don’t drink, I’m good. So there you have it. I can go 6 weeks without so not chronic use but I just know how much it effects me for days after and how much of a c*** I can be to those around me. Plus I’m 43 ffs. There comes a time….

I promise you, it isn’t as hard to quit as you think. I was in a deep dark hole with it and couldn’t find the mindset to to quit it. Hindsight’s a beautiful thing though, it was very easy actually. Just a few habit changes and triggers. Move on from the people you associate with. Never been better. 8 years

Most people want a bag after drinking. Drinking is the biggest gateway. I’ve noticed if I have one pint I’m good. Two pints I turn into bag mode. Best thing is to stop drinking. It’s weird if someone came up to me and said do a line (when I hadn’t had any drink) I wouldn’t even do it and it would be easy to say no. Drink is the biggest problem. Good luck and get help if you need

4.5 year no booze for me now but it works the same as coke in terms of addiction. This guy is wise, cut ties with people you get on it with for 3 months at least. 3 months is how long it takes to properly break the habit. There will be a point maybe a few weeks or a month in where you feel quite depressed because you realise you have to deal with your own thoughts and feelings instead of hiding from them but get past that and you're good, you'll never look back.
@ibizalplate Жыл бұрын
How do you cut ties if you live with the only person you do it with 🤦🏼♀️🙄
@JakeLDS Жыл бұрын
@@ibizalplate I used to live with one of my best mates. We used to get on it together often. When I quit he wouldn't accept it and was always on my case to stop being a p*ssy and get on it with him. Literally tried forcing stuff on me a few times. Eventually I moved out and now we barely speak. I realised that a lot of our relationship revolved around us getting fucked up together. It's a shame but as a whole my life is better, I'm happier. If your friend can accept your decision then fine, but if they won't you need to choose you, your health and your sanity over them.

Just came across this, think it’s brilliant and a lot of people will benefit from this talk,, iv been through all these scenario’s, one thing I disagree with tho, there’s a difference between a habit and addiction, if your using once a week just say a Friday, that isn’t addiction that’s a habit,, an addiction is where you need it and if you don’t have it you withdraw and rattle,, there’s a big difference,, I live all the points that are made,, there should be more awareness about this,,

In a matter of weeks I was doing 3-4 G a night. I ended up the gear was killing me more than the cancer. Used to do a bit so had easy access. Majorly messed up because of it. That’s half gs at .4. I’ll snort a half as a line but never used it as a social drug. I was selling it so could take loads when I wanted. I was told I had cancer and used the gear to get me out of depression for a bit. I’d sit at home with my drivers doing the work just sitting through the night taking it. It sounds so sad but it seems the only thing that was helping. I hit a low one week end and phoned 111 to see if I could get some help. I told them during the conversation that I was suicidal and I was thinking of hitting someone to go to prison to get away from it. They traced my phone and they kept me talking till 4 armed police surrounded my car. I asked for help and ended up done with possession of a knife and concerned in the supply of drugs. I need to get something done or I don’t think I’ll see this year out. Sorry for hitting you with a downer just need to talk to someone who understands. Thanks for the answer it meant a lot. Stay strong brother. C from Glasgow.
