Man, I really enjoyed this game. The combat and the openness of being able to change play styles really fast made it. It has some flaws, like the cathedral, and apparently the dlcs are abysmal, but it otherwise is a fantastic game.

To be fair anyone who complains about the confusing layout of the cathedral is a massive casul because that was the intention of the area. A maze. And they did a damn good job at making it a real maze. You're supposed to get lost and struggle to find your way around the whole thing. That's not bad area design. It's one of the smartest area layouts in the game. I'll take it over linear ruined city any day. The actual reason why the cathedral is bad is because it has like 2 unique enemies lol. Which is even worse because of how much time the average player will spend in this area. Seeing the same 2 enemies for hours is simply not fun. In fact the confusing layout of the cathedral is the only reason why I say it's not an anor londo rip-off. Being a maze is what makes it unique and good. If that area would be as linear as the ruined city for example it would actually be by far the worst area in the game.

I remember the cathedral having some bullshit invasions, but I think some of that was fixed or tuned later on? It might not be as bad as when I played it, at least. The combat has a slight bit of jank to it and weapons have like no impact whatsoever, but it's fun for what it is. The one good thing about DLC is that if it's shite, you can just ignore it and play the vanilla game without tainting your experience. Thank god for that.

I can't lie I've been on and off about this game, mainly because soulslikes were never my cup of tea, but I'll be honest this looks pretty good. (And after playing it yeah no it's fantastic, it's like the only soulslike I've ever enjoyed, yeah it's cheesy and unsubtle but you know what I genuinely like that kind of earnest unironic cheese and by god the combat is amazing.) At the end, Lenny died, but what if that would caused him to isakai'd into some generic anime world with slow and easy going plot, were he is some weak protagonist with some gimmick to make him special. And he constantly accidentally gets into certain situations with busty anime girls (both humans and demi-humans), that immediately blush and slap or kick him after and become part of a harem. And all characters in that world have a really flat personality and don't properly follow logic or common sense. Like that would probably be his nightmare.
