I agree with your review. It was too talky and while the father was in shock over what happened I don’t think he would have been able to keep what happened inside all that time. The ending did help but the entire movie is spent thinking about when the talking will stop and when the reveal of what happened will occur. So yes, shaving off some time would have been good. But a brilliant psychological horror premise.

The premise is very messed up and having more doing and less talking would've been great.

Since it wasn't shown, did he bump into it and fall or was it on purpose, you think?

My take on it was that it was an accident, but I could see it also being slightly purposeful. Like maybe getting very frustrated and and jostling the baby, but then dropping it.

@@CarlinCook I think an accident too, but there is a part of me that thought that perhaps subliminally he committed a real Freudian slip!

@@jbjacobs9514 that is possible considering how they really let you know early on that he doesn't feel very close to the child or really even excited about fatherhood.

Just saw this on Saturday night. I wasn't sure I was going to like it because I didn't care too much for the wife until much later in the film. Her laughing over and over that the table broke made me want to yell HAHA - jokes on you! I know that sounds terrible. The salesman is a very weird dude! And the brother's girlfriend was so insufferable. I found some of the scenes hard to actually see based on the camera work (not the subject matter). It gave me slapstick comedy vibes for such a heinous situation. So, tonally, I am not sure it was supposed to be as funny as it was. Those were the parts I liked.

I think some of that comedic feel comes from the overacting. It was an interesting choice. The tension of knowing the wife will eventually find out plays out pretty well.
