I'm really seeing this song as one of the two villain pieces in a musical, along with your cover of Bad Guy, with a villain unsure of his actual role in this world. The villain is forced to play the villain by the narrative, but while he enjoys his villany very much, he still longs to be loved and accepted, yet the plot won't ever let him achieve these things.

I like the idea that it's a reverse scenario where the damsel actually falls for the bad guy and is genuinely sweet to him despite the fact he kidnapped and threatened to take her life. Maybe her Father is the accidental inventor of a dangerous weapon and the bad guy's intention was to ransom the girl for his potential doomsday device. This song is him realizing his plans are falling apart because he's starting to develop feelings for her and seeing her as an equal
@Papadragon183 жыл бұрын
@@bugliimulligans I've been reading too many Tumblr posts, but I can't help but bounce off of your suggestion with the idea that the Damsel was already in love with him - say he and her father had met over this dangerous weapon(As for him, we have plenty of people who invented terrifying weapons, thinking they'd scare humanity into never going to war again, so it doesn't have to be accidental), and that's how she met him - and she set up her own kidnapping to get closer to him.
